Hello! I'm attempting ("attempting" because Coral isn't on so I haven't gotten her permission yet, this is a spur of the moment thingy) to start up contests in the poetry subforum. This shall be our first, and if it is started up, it shall be in honor of Halloween!
You can make it off anything you like:
1. Halloween Movies-(Specify which movie or which series)
2. Halloween Stories-(You don't really have to specify here, but if it's well-known or even not-so-well-known, feel free!)
3. Other-Specify, please.
I think that if Coral replies to me on this by tomorrow it can last from October 19th to October 31st. I know that isn't a lot of time, so get your brains working on your poetry! (I doubt I can put in one of my poems, as this IS my contest, but let's see if I can bend the rules a little...hmm...*mischievous face*)
There is no gold set up for winner(s) yet, but I'll try to get some donations, okay? Great! (As soon as I figure out how you're supposed to donate it to somebody...hmm...*frustrated expression* I'm so new at this crap! Somebody PM me and tell me how to donate the gold to winners!)
Okay, okay. I'll edit onto this later if/when Coral agrees to contests. I just really feel we need to speed up the activity in the poetry subforum and monthly contests just seem a great way to do it.
If Coral does agree, I think that there should be five top poems, of which I shall later edit onto this topic and make it a poll and which we shall vote on for maybe a week. The winner/winners (if there is a tie for the latter) will receive the donated gold (or perhaps just a pat on the back rofl if I can't raise the money) after the poll has officially ended.
Of course, this all depends on whether or not Coral agrees to my plan, so we'll just wait and see. (LOG ON, CORAL, D**N YOU! Ahem, sorry.)
Go ahead and start working on your literary masterpieces!

I've been wondering the past three days or so. Just when are people going to comment this thread? To at least give notice to it's cause. The lack of support is shameful. (Sorry, I'm really Kleopatra Selene, but Starry's computer won't let her log out for me to log in ((don't ask why I'm on her computer, or I'll hunt you down! *LOL face*)) so just ignore the avi you see to the right (or left) of this post and imagine me, your purple friend! (I'm an elf! I took the potion, so you have no proof of otherwise!) Here I am, yours truly!)
Since nobody has posted yet (including Coral with her permission!) I have no choice but to go ahead and start the contest. I hope everyone participates. After ten days (since as it's been delayed, it will only be from October 21st to October 31st) we'll pick out our top three, I'll put it in a poll, and we'll all pick a winner over perhaps a week.
Go ahead, start posting!
I suppose I can't post because I'm the leader of the poetry subforum, but as I have no direct access of the poll, I'm gonna do it anyway when I get to my own comp. and am able to log in! (see upper part of post for reference)
Lyekka, I know you shouldn't show favoritism, but I certainly hope you post! I love your style of writing...
Ahem, excuse the favoritism. Everyone is welcome to join.
I will be offering up, maybe, um, 500 gold? My own gold, so I shall be sad to part with it! *weeps feigned tears* I live in a world where I wish money didn't matter, but since it does, it's probably what I should give to the winner.
Someone just has to show me how I can give gold to the winner and I'll do it willingly.
Have fun posting! Remember, Halloween-related...it doesn't have to have blood or anything chilling, it just has to have a scary, foreshadowed, and/or depressing mood. As long as it's not cheerful, I'll take it! (There might be exceptions! PM me if you're unsure!) Everyone is welcome to join in, so just have fun. One rule: everything must be original. You may make references, but you are not allowed to plagiarize. Not even the tiniest bit. Not the littlest bit! GOT IT? Good! Okay, then I think we're set!

((By the way, just to say, that really was me that posted Starry's post up there...her stupid computer has a defense system and wouldn't let her log out, so I had to write as her... if you ask why we were sharing a computer, I will KEEL YOU! *feigns German accent* Holy s**t, I sound just like that guy from the Klondike bar commercial! *sighs dreamily* Ah, I love Klondike bars...so tasty...*snaps back to attention* Anyway, contest's open, I'm offering up 500 gold, I might lower it or raise it depending on whatever...so post!))

I'm absolutely appalled by the lack of activity in this subforum. When I say POST, dam*it, it is not a request! Post or die! I'm not kidding! Ugh....now I'm all pissed. Somebody post so that I may be happy again...Coral, Starry, Lyekka, anybody...

i'm so glad your pissed. That is to say. I got something strange i'm going to post and it's another attempt to harness my A.D.D. addled brain with the help of many fine cheeses and a grand supply of both cheap and not so cheap bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon. Was gonna post it last night but it's big and concept heavy so i'm taking an extra evening so we can all bask in the eeriness of some of my latest output.
It's a joke that became a short story. That became memories of the scary places i have traveled. I can't be sure what it is right now because i have to find a stopping point and polish it up. Maybe it will be up in the early hours of this coming Sunday morning? i really hope it feeds the smoking embers so that creative fires can engulf us all.
It's going to be entitled "No Future" and i think it's gonna shake things up. The 3 or 4 die hard poets among us will have to shine as bright as we can. Now is the time.

Believe or not i want to shine here. I want us all to progress. But sometimes i think i need to start shopping for a few more serious poets in Rally or some Forum advertisement. We are in need of recruits

Lyekka, sweetheart...don't think I'm yelling at you, because I'm not (I only yell at people I either am really annoyed at or I really despise, and you don't fit in either category) but there is a "prose" section for a reason. This is a poety contest. Not an update topic. I understand that you like to write really long paragraphs that Coral probably doesn't understand (scratch out probably, she just plain doesn't understand it, LOL) but this is for a poetry contest.
I hope this doesn't hurt your feelings, but I would prefer ultimate seriousness here.
Feel free to write your long, indescribably-difficult-for-Coral-to-read paragraphs in any other thread, but it is "poetry" contest for a reason.
Coral, post one of your vampy poems..they're depressing, they're vocabularly(is that a word? oh well)-limited, but d**n it all, I love reading them. Just to see your hilarious perspective. Better late than never at posting, BTW.
Do I sound like a b***h? Cuz I feel crummy. My fav TV show still has a week before its season premiere and I'm freaking out waiting for it.

Yes, Kleo. Yuo did sound quite rude (And I know you will kill me tom. but idc) And my poems are awesome. Dont diss my depressing poetry. And Lyekka? I really cant understand what you say XD. I guess being a blonde does have that disadvantage. Coral! I'm shocked LOL you admitted that you are a total and complete blond (not to be discrimative against hair colors, that's just a private joke between her and me) but if it really bothers you then I take back what I said. Lyekka can write whatever she likes; it's not my subforum, I'm just managing it. Right to free speech and all that, chip chip cheerio (I love sounding British; I feel so awesome).
