Set in the context of Central Park in New York City, The Ultimate Block Party forged a partnership between non-profit organizations and large corporations to demonstrate how free play and playful learning build skills central to the workplace of tomorrow. Families with children from 2 to 12 were able to visit a number of stations that combined playful activities and mini-master classes with some of New York’s best architects, musicians, artists, CEOs and engineers.

Jumpstart, a national early education nonprofit, was an official activities sponsor of The Ultimate Block Party. The organization had an activities booth that displayed activities centered around it’s Read for the Record campaign, happening on October 7.

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, presented in partnership with Pearson, is Jumpstart’s world record breaking campaign that brings children and adults together to read the same book, on the same day, in homes and communities all over the world. The campaign also kicks off Jumpstart’s yearlong program, preparing preschool children in low-income neighborhoods for success in school and life. This year, the official campaign book is The Snowy Day, by Ezra Jack Keats.
