eos Lip Balm Smooth Sphere
heart heart heart heart heart +++ (this is one of my all-time favorite products, honestly)

INFO: According to the eos ("evolution of smooth") web page, this lip balm smooths on clear and provides long lasting moisture. It is paraben-free, among other things, and USDA certified organic. I purchased this in Summer Fruit, and the taste is delicious.

PACKAGING: Seriously, every review of this little guy starts out with the packaging. It's the cutest thing ever! It's an orb with a flat bottom, so it doesn't roll away, and the top screws off to reveal a half-orb of product inside. Guaranteed to get a second glance from those around you. wink Plus, it's made from recycled materials, so it's ecofriendly, though if you keep it in a bag/pocket prone to lint, the lint will stick to it. It's not the most portable thing ever, but it's extremely ergonomic. It is applied with one stroke to both lips, or generously to each lip. Definitely takes some getting used to; this is not your run of the mill chapstick. xp They also have it in stick version that I have not tried

PROS: This is hands down my favorite lip balm. I would recommend this little guy to EVERYONE. It makes my lips so soft and smooth. Its not gritty or greasy like some chapsticks are, and doesn't leave a film on the lips. I apply it every night religiously, and often times use it during the morning. It lasts for several hours; I usually don't have to reapply it during nice weather, though I do have to use something else when it's dry/windy/very cold outside.

CONS: At the time of purchasing, eos did not have an option with sunscreen, which kind of bummed me out. The Lemon Drop flavor has since been released with SPF, though I kind of wish they all did.
This product can go on a little heavy if you use a heavy hand, and probably isn't suitable for layering lip color over. It's also not very good if your lips are already chapped or have dry skin. I exfoliate them and then layer this on top; it works like a charm.

REPURCHASE?: Definitely. Mine is just about gone; I'm planning to purchase the Lemon Drop and the Sweet Mint flavors next. You can purchase this at CVS, but you have to go looking in the lip balm aisle/display (usually near the toothpastes/other oral care products).

UPDATE (30 October 2010): So, I purchased the Lemon Drop version of this lip balm the other day to replace my Summer Fruit, and I figured I'd update this review. The Lemon Drop is different in that it has SPF 15, whereas the others do not. I do like it and it does almost as good a job as the Summer Fruit, but it goes on a little grittier and doesn't absorb quite as well. My lips are still smooth, but with a layer on them that didn't happen with the non-SPF formula. I am going to continue to use it, but I would recommend purchasing any other flavor, because this product is definitely better without the SPF.

$3.69, I think? Incredibly cheap, considering the quality of the product; that shea butter works miracles. I purchased mine at CVS, I think the price is pretty consistant. It's totally worth it. Mine lasted like two and a half months? It's not totally empty but the sphere is really wearing down; it probably has a week or two of life left in it. smile

I want one! I'm totally attracted to gimmicks, so even if this sucked I'd want it just for the cute packaging. haha

Updated! I purchased this same product in a different flavor and formula a few days ago and have been using it, so I figured I should update the review. smile

And it is $3.29, not $3.69. Totally worth every penny.

I LOVE THIS LIP BALM 8D!
I had the pink one for a while until I dropped it in some pretty gross dirt D; I do agree that it doesn't work too well with already chapped lips, but other than that it was such a charm and too cue for words :3

Well that's good to know I was going to get the one with Spf just cause it sounded like the responsible thing to do lmao
But now I think I am going to go with the fruit one 3nodding

Yeah, I definitely like the Summer Fruit better overall. The lemon flavor is a little too sweet for me and I don't like the texture as much. Seems to work just as well, though. For daytime wear, I usually layer Burts Bees (purple cap with SPF) underneath it, and then just use that one for touchups. I use this religiously as a super hydrating nighttime balm, and after exfoliating my lips or curing a case of chap, etc. Think I'll pick up another Summer Fruit the next time I'm in CVS, and keep the lemon as an emergency backup.

I bought one like two nights ago and it's great!!! It felt weird at first tho... I thought there maybe was a film or something on it cause it was hard a plastic feeling but as I used it, it became more smooth.
It made my lips feel so soft and conditioned but it didn't last for long is that normal?

surprised
I have this in Summer Fruit & in Honey Dew. Ive had the Summer Fruit since well, Summer lol. And Honey Dew is my new baby addition since I got it for christmas! Both are extremely moisturizing and I love them to death. The Summer Fruit one I use almost every single day and I have a dent in it but I still have lots of product left to use. And for the price its really affordable and quite the bang for your buck!
Have you tried any other flavors? Thanks for the review smile
