I'd like to volunteer for this committee. Will important events/ town times be posted in here?

Awesome! Out first two first members!

Basically, the purpose of the committee is to plan Towns events and such. You got an idea that might work for Towns? Share it here and chances are we will organize that and will make it happen. So bottom line: We are in charge of coming up with ideas, organizing and making this events on Towns happen.

I've got a few ideas, but I won't be able to be active in towns until at least this coming Wednesday. Too many papers/ projects due this Monday and Tuesday =/ Yeesh.

Anyway, here are some ideas:

1. A themed Character Contest/ Social Mixer
------ The premise is that we host a small event like an avatar rating contest, except that the elements being judged also include character likeness via RPing. So, someone comes in as a character, and if they're acting + costume really nails the person they've chosen, it makes them a top contender. Winners could gain small gold prizes, or maybe a neat guild made RP item for use within GML.

2. Festival / Feast themed events
------ Obseen mentioned this in another thread - where we create a holiday or some random reason for celebration, and advertise the hell out of it. Preferably IC, with OOC chatting, so that we can get a good feel for people's RP skills.

3. House Party
------ Pretty simple, as the name implies. One of us opens up our house for a GML shindig. We can host small minigames or puzzle games, etc.

4. Murder Mystery "Fundraiser"
------ Ever been a part of one of these? You're invited to a party for food, drink and games, you're having a blast and suddenly the lights go out. There's confusion for some seconds, and then a blood curdling scream comes form upstairs. A guest at the party has been murdered! Thus begins a semi scripted event that would use our GML members as "actors" in this game of intrigue, where our guests would help try and piece the mystery together.

Towns has aot of great potential, but it will boil down to exactly how specific and detailed we want to be with our events. The more interactive and rewarding they are for guests and non-members the better, as it will enforce the memory of our Guild with positive memories and certainly interest others to join us. The goal is to attract people to the guild through the quality of our events and the friendly, tight knit nature of our community, while still showing our guild's attention to detail and focus on RPing

Gentlemen, we have the technology. We can make this happen. And I am particularly interested in the Murder Mystery idea as I've never really been part of those and they seem interesting.

Anywho, basically, we need to figure out what event we wanna kick it off with and how are we gonna do it. I suggest a Social Mixer to begin with, just to test the waters. This would not only introduce the idea of Towns events to the guild members but it could also give us a chance to choose a hotspot for us to hang out at if we ever go to Towns.

Well, a questionnaire sounds nice and thoughtful out of us. Yes, it will take a while to have every person answer that question. However, we might already know the answer to that question: We all run under different schedules. It will be impossible to pick a single day and time that will accommodate everyone. It's just impossible. But what we can do is try and pick a time where maybe everyone will be bound to be here, more or less. For example, a good time for me would be Friday morning but I know it might not work for the rest. Instead of asking people what time would accommodate them, we can come up with a date in advance so that people will hopefully be able to accommodate their schedule so they can make it. Without having to do a questionnaire, my educated guess is sometime in the afternoon. Due to different time zones, I'd say between 6 and 9pm.

However, there's another problem. Next week will be Thanksgiving week. I would love to have this event take place next week, but most people go out of town during this week (Last year, I left for like 5 days and I went to Las Vegas). And obviously, people will prioritize their real life events; nothing odd there. So perhaps we can plan this event to take place the week after Thanksgiving.

Okay...? The car part is a bit irrelevant. And if you were the murderer, then you would have already lost the game! >/> But yeah, that's exactly what I meant. There isn't an exact date that will accommodate to everyone's needs. So we'll just have to come up with a date where most people are able to log in even if its just for a while. Like I said, I believe it is better if we set a date and then people could try and see if they can make it or if they need to do something to their schedule to get there or something.

Here's a basic questionnaire I think we should send to our members to help us decide on times for the mixer.

1. What time zone do you live in? (Denote time as displaced from GMT)

2. What times during the day and night are you most active on Gaia?

3. On what days are you most available?
