Alright the story is that a partner of mine gets visited by four members of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Now off the bat I get confused, I know its what they do. I mean Iv even had a visit from them before back around 1994. But don't they abscond from secular society?
Don't they believe all outer society from them is morally corrupt?
Even so that's not the worst of it. He is a nice guy and I will stand to that. But if you keep bothering him with something like that he will turn pretty quick. His own words to me where that he picked the mans faith apart in front of his face. Which I must say is not a very good thing to do, no matter the moment your in. But the whole conversation ended up with him getting shunned by them and most likely the whole group.
.....Aren't you supposed to be a Witness before you can be shunned? Or is it just some sort of open door policy on that?
I know it may seem to an extent that I'm picking fun at them but that's not the case. It's just that I don't know what to think of that.

Generally when people say they've ripped apart someone's faith, they usually mean they casually poked holes at particular topics that may well have been covered by apologists. Being able to argue better than someone doesn't necessitate that the larger paradigm they associate themselves with is wrong - it just means that you've beat Some Guy in a debate.
Also, yes, JW believe that secular society is morally bankrupt, but they also have a regimented policy of proselytising. If you aren't out there trying to bring converts in, you're Looked Down Upon. The beliefs aren't incompatible.
Likewise, you can be shunned by someone without having to be excommunicated. But to be capital-S-Shunned, you gotta be part of the church.
