(Reduce Reuse Recycle.) Reducing: its first step in the recycling triangular-green-thingy. By not using as much of (resource/item), you conserve the energy and material that go's into that (resource/item). So less of the energy and material(and the negative consequences on nature associated with them) is taken from the environment in the first place. An example: Reducing the amount of paper you buy less trees get cut down. Then, you say Reuse the back of the papers, or something like that. Then you buy even less paper, saving more trees. Finally, you recycle the paper, and future paper you buy has less paper from trees in it. Reducing consumption of energy, recourses(like water), and other things that are harmful to the environment in production/use; you prevent/lessen the damage that our way of life causes in the first place. All the 3 R's are equally impotent. Duse this help at all? hope it doesn't sound condescending, I don't mean it to.
