Hijacking thread for general wrestling discussion purposes, whoo.
Anyways, I hear a lot about Cena, so I'm going to point out some things that will probably have people saying "Duh, obviously".
Anyways, I'm just going to say Cena is the fan favorite of the younger fans, while it seems older fans hate him. Now, with all this talk of heel turns, I ask... why?
Cena fills what I see as an important role. It's not his drawing power, but it's his spot as a true babyface. Using Cena as an introductory character is nothing but a good thing. It gives younger fans that first person they can latch on to.
What Cena needs... is a diverse roster. Sheamus and yes, Randy Orton are two different kinds of faces from Cena. Older people like Sheamus currently, myself included. And I like the schtick of telling the Irish fairy tales. But his in ring work is simply brutal.
With a good supporting cast, Cena can make a good launching point for other fans to latch onto their own favorites. At least, that's how I see it.
Keeping him face keeps a constant in the WWE. Having an anchor, so to speak, can help line up everything else around the company, I think.

After quick Wikipedia search, Richard Roode and Robert Roode don't seem to be related.
ALso, Eric B has some skill isn't a question, and ODB question was answered I think.
But ODB is now back with TNA.

...Alright, I guess I will put it forward.
Cena is a prime example of being a good guy to work with and earning his spot. The issue is that it seems that he can't let go of the main event spotlight. Be honest; when was the last time that Cena played second-banana to anyone? When was the last time Cena was competing in the midcard?
Sure, I'd rather not see Cena down in the midcard, but for someone who is as established as they are, and pride themselves on being an excellent worker...you'd think he'd help propel new talent to fill his shoes when he's finished. And yes, creative is to blame for this as well; they are afraid to take risks and want to go with the sure-fire thing. The entire Punk fuel has only been a recent stint, and yet we see both Punk and Cena in the spotlight.
In any case, it is more a fault to the writers than it is to Cena, unless he has an excellent poker face. I also think adding some more substance to his character to give him an image that the older generation can latch onto would benefit him immensely.
But hey, at least he isn't Orton.

Relying on Cena to please everyone is a bit of a tall order. That's why I feel like creative should spend some time building up more characters, more individuals. This way, there's more for everyone.

Exactly; there isn't anything wrong with giving Cena time off on occasion. You have the stars at your disposal; just ******** work on them.

The problem with Cena, and the reason so many people want him to turn heel, is for the last 5-6 years, he's been doing the same boy scout, pretend to be a part of the military gimmick that he'll probably retire with. That's not a gimmick that can really last 5-6 years with him doing nothing new with it. Even his matches are all the same, unless he gets paired with someone who can carry him. He's not doing anything to keep himself relevant or interesting. He's relying on the writers to make him interesting, and they don't know how to do that.

To my understanding Ricardo Rodriguez is a very good in-ring worker... Right now he is just an embarrassment >_> I don't like when WWE does that to guys who can actually wrestle... They make them (and just about every other heel) look like fools -_-

I root for heels too, but the more worthier ones to watch. Not just any heel such as David Otunga. I'll root for Alberto Del Rio, even if he cashed it in on CM Punk and will probably lose it to Cena. It just disappoints me at times looking at some of the fans in the crowd booing Beth Pheonix and Natayla just because they are heels. At least they are more fun to watch than the rest, even though they still wear "pretty" dresses. (Which is what I thought they were against the whole idea about the looks?"
