The Curse:

Vera sat down at he head of the table, her very elegant dress draped beside her. Cross your legs at the ankle, smile, dont make eye contact, follow all daddys rules. Vera thought, as she acted out all the actions her father had taught her.

Chase put his arm around Nikki's waist as she leaned against him, watching the sun as it sank below the tree-line that surrounded the small but busy farm.

Vera, her eyes still tear-stained, writes her name carefully on the sheet of paper. The letter reads:
Official Proclamation of the new Queen
Your King, King Midias, has been muirdeured. His daughter, Princess Vera, will take over as queen within five days.
Vera sits the pen down, and watches the other advisors at the table. "You know I will be next." She says simply.
Her young advisor, Joseph, stands up and bows, then addresses her, "Yo-Youre majesty. We know your father was killed. We know you may be next. But we are taking every precaution to save you."
A more experienced, older advisor, stands and bows then says, "We have sent for every young lady from the age of sixteen to eighteen to come to the palace. We will choose the one who looks the most like you to become a decoy until you become Queen. Then, you will be at the hands of your people."
Vera smiles grimly, "Very well. Meeting dismissed."

"Chase! Nikki! Get up here!' Nikki heard her father call them, they raced up the hill to their house noticing a royal messenger on the front porch of the house. "What' going on?" she asked still clutching chase's hand. "I need your daughter to return with me to the castle. The king seeks all young ladies of her age to report to the castle at once." The man said with a bow. Her father looked at the ground then back up at Nikki, "Okay then....go ahead." he waved them off. Nikki couldn't believe it but quickly kissed Chase upon the cheek before leaving with the messenger, " I'll be back soon." she called back. Hours later they arrived at the castle where she was given a room, she noticed many other girl being assigned rooms as well. Once inside she sat upon the bed awaiting what would happen next.

Vera walked around in her chamber, very annoyed they wouldnt let her leave her room. Her two advisors walked in, bowed, then led her out the door. Her royal stylist had come by earlier, and had put her into a new dress (See profile pic) and fixed her hair into a beautiful bun. She walked after them, treading lightly on her white heels. She was being led toward the guests chambers.
"We have found twenty Girls that resemble you in anyway." Her younger advisor said.
"But one sticks out more than the others. Her name is Nikki."

Nikki rose to her feet as soon as Vera and two of her advisors entered, she curtsied bowing her head. Upon looking back up she felt rather embarrassed to be seen by the princess after she had spent all day in the fields along-side Chase tending to the field, she blushed. "Why have I been brought here?" She asked quietly.

A confused look washed over Nikki's face, " A decoy? Me?" she scoffed, placing a hand on her hip, "and I have been chosen why?"

Vera pulls her over to the nearest mirror. "Do you see now?" There faces were the same shape, there eyes the same color. There hair was the same color, and the were about the same height. They looked almost identical, except one looked more clean and one more dirty.
