Quick summary: Okay guys, I've done a few tweaks and I've decided to make my post-Civil War RP into a more world-wide thing, I didn't want to limit us to one place but the Union and the Confederacy are definitely the main players. My information on the other nations are slightly limited with few liberties taken in changing their history, only the Union and Confederacy are from my imagination, everyone else is a bit more accurate with the help of steampower. Enjoy!!
Next is the major powers of North America and Europe. Asia was not really a major player in the world, mainly dealing with its own affairs, Great Britain, France, and Russia were the only major powers that had some influences in Asia. If enough people want Asia to be added in later on I will allow it.

The world is in a great revolution of steam driven machines and weapons. With the recent stalemate of the United States of America and the Confederate States of America both nations have created an uneasy peace between them. The rest of world have eyes on the two unstable powers waiting to see what will happen next and some even itching to move in if a vulnerable moment arose amongst them.
Steam has been made the leading power source, getting rid of archaic and dirty coal power. With each major power taking advantage of steampower and making their own uses for it they all become competitors on the new market for weapons, vehicles and tools. Some have gained more leads than others but each one creating a stable steam driven economy.

North America: The United States of America and the Confederate States of America have come to an uneasy treaty after a stalemate halted their Civil War and have remained in their rocky friendship for almost two years. The treaty was simple; The Confederacy was allowed to remain as their separate country despite much resistance from the North, however they agreed to abolish their slavery laws including their policies on slave trade. Territories that were held by the Union were to be split for the South; also the Territories captured by Union were to be returned to their home nation.
The North was to lay an industrial line in the South to even the playing field as the world is flung deeper into the Industrial Revolution. The wealthier North was to pay reparations for the losses of the South in gold, to help give the Confederate dollar some gold backing. Lastly both the Confederacy and the Union agreed upon allowing joint-operation on the gold and silver mines that dotted the Western Territories and California, with strict limitations on how much ore each nation is to unearth during set periods of time. The Union recently purchased Alaska from Russia secretly, though some come to regret the ‘Icebox’.
The North has been introduced to the new Steam powered machinery that is sweeping both England and the rest of Europe. They have ingeniously begun mass producing steam and clockwork weapons, vehicles, and everyday appliances to simplify daily life. The South, however, are behind and constantly try to keep up with their industrial sister. Although they have made great strides they continued to fall short. The North has already begun to neglect their promises to aid in industrializing the South.
The Dominion of Canada has become a nation under Great Britain and is rumored to be the ‘spies’ to keep tabs on the countries to its south, just in case things get too hectic which be an opportune time to reclaim Britain’s former New World.
Mexico has fought mercilessly to regain control of their lands from France and bring down the puppet empire that was implemented in hopes to gain power in the Americas, however with the help of the Union, Mexico successfully pushed back the French and Mexican monarchists. Now it spends its time recovering from its recent victory, they see their old lands to the north as worthy means of recovery…

Europe: The British Empire continues its reign over half the earth, reaching as far as the Pacific Ocean with its Island Prison of Australia. Britain is having disputes with their colonies in the deep African Savannah as well as their Indian subjects. However, due to the recent innovation of their steam powered war machines they are able to combat and start to subdue rebellious colonies. Great strides have been made to bring steam powered vehicles to the average British citizen and though they are not as great as their German/Prussian competitor to the south they remain one of the powerhouses of the world.
Napoleon III is nearing his end as Emperor of France with humiliation in defeats in both the Americas and its failure to receive lands fought for in the Austro-Prussian War. French troops were sent to the backwater country of Japan to boost its military might for the upcoming Boshin War. French-Papal victory in retaining the rule of Pope Pius IX at the battle of Mentana was the only victory in a long while. France now sits idly enjoying a brief period of peace and research of steam power for both personal and military purposes while it slowly made plans for more conquest in Europe…
The German Confederation and Prussia united to create the North German Alliance and quickly mass produced steampowered vehicles including a revolutionary flying ship that gave them an edge in the industrial playing field, steampowered automobiles were also in its infancy yet slowly gained ground with minor ‘accidental deaths’ in the process. Karl Marx, a radical social scientist produces another book about his Socialist/Communist views titled Das Kapital Nowadays the Germans enjoy their industrial success and competes with Great Britain for dominance in the Industrial market, their French counterpart to the west and the new competitor of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire to the south the Alliance is on a constant state of alert in case more war decides to break out.
Austrian-Hungarian Empire has just become a united nation. With the North German Alliance looming to the north as well as several southern German states they were already on their toes in case of war, for now they focused on keeping a stable unity between them as well as try to keep up with the rest of Europe in the steam revolution.
The Kingdom of Italy and the Papal States both continue to fight for control of the Italian Peninsula with the Kingdom making great headways to unifying the Italian states, it is not yet known if steampower has played any role in their blood feud.
Russia’s reign of Catherine the Great causes a nation-wide Golden age of peace and prosperity, steam power trickled into its borders later in the years despite resistance from the older Russians who did not want western influence, however seeing the benefits of such a revolutionary technology causes Russia to go into an industrial frenzy as they tried to catch up with the westerners in case the need arose for dominance in the steampower, they of course did not want to be left behind from the rest of world again. With the Alaskan lands sold to the Union, Russia has remained a bit of an ally to them, although it mainly for monetary reasons Russia announced an alliance with the Union early on and to this day remains quite friendly.

RULES
1. Obviously follow the Gaia ToS
2. No God-modding, you cannot be a super genius that somehow knows how to do everything, keep it fair and make your character realistic.
3. No Cybering, this of course violates rule 1, but romance is encouraged, just make sure it remains at a PG-13 level. If a scene must somehow end in sex make a time skip and show the ending (i.e 'the morning after'...)
4.Language is not an issue with me, I just do not like seeing ******** every three words. If your character is a surly, sailor mouthed ruffian than fine, just be mindful on how tasteful your words are.
5. Again, I would like to state that your character must be realistic, they are able to be very smart but make sure they have weaknesses like every human being.
6. More rules may be implemented later on if I see fit. Also I will set up a 'Dead List' meaning if I find violations and if you have broken the rules enough times your character will be 'killed' and removed from the RP.

Profiles!!
Username: Axel_of_the_Flame
Character Name: Leon Wolf
Age: 19
Nationality: Confederate States of America
Known Family: Robert (father who is the local Preacher/plantation owner), Marietta (mother who stays at home), Lance (brother who serves in the Confederate Army), Grace (sister who helps mother with house chores).
Occupation: Helps run father's plantation
Specific skills: Knowledge of farming and many tools, has some experience with weapons (due to his brother teaching him secretly) but not much of the new technology.
Personality: Quiet and reserved yet adventurous, he is almost nothing like his fire and brimstone father. He takes after his mother.
Bio: He was put in charge of several workers on his father's plantation, finding workers was surprisingly easy and they now have an overabundance. He has never become close to his father due to his father's involvement in the county and of course his 142 acre plantation. He much rather spend time with his mother and sister yet his father continues to drag him into the family business.
His brother, practically disowned by Robert, has not made contact with the family since the peace treaty and Leon always wonders of his whereabouts or even if Lance is alive.
Appearance: Average height and weight. His hair is cut short and is the color of dark leather, just below his hairline is a smooth fair skinned forehead decorated with two slightly curved dark brown eyebrows that outline his piercing silvery eyes. His nose juts out and curves down ever so delicately, his lips are in a perpetual, tiny grin.
Because he runs the plantation and hardly ever works himself he remains fair skinned and lean with little muscle to show but just enough for a toned body due to his secret adventures he takes at night with several other rebellious young adults.
Username: The Greasy Engineer
Character Name: Amos David Boudreaux
Age: 30
Nationality: The Confederate States of America (born) Mexico (current)
Known Family: Tucker Lee Boudreaux (father, deceased), Rosalita Gonzales Boudreaux (mother, deemed insane).
Occupation: Railroad engineer (formerly with the Confederates,) Bounty hunter (currently)
Specific Skills: Handy with a knife, can operate steam-powered vehicles (only Locomotives, a tugboat and airships. Not much beyond those.) Hardened adventurer (tough to die) and experienced tracker.
Personality: A laidback customer when he's not on the trail, but his easy-going outside has a hardened adventurer.
Bio: Born to a Cajun sharecropper and the daughter of a Mexican landowner, Amos served out the Civil war working as a railroad engineer for the Confederate Army (was rumored to have met Robert E. Lee at this standpoint.) His fall from grace was when he freed thousands of slaves to the ire of his superior, claiming that "heritage don't mean nothin' when it comes to doin' what's right." When confronted by the owner, a harsh fight broke out which led to Amos hijacking a locomotive and hiding in the deep Louisiana swamps. In the cover of night, he drove the engine into a border town called Nuevo Laredo, where he lives by his wits in the west.
Appearance: Amos stands about 6' 4'', weighs 210 pounds soaking wet. Usually dressed in Blue jeans, a pair of black cowboy boots, a plaid shirt with the sleeves rolled up. Usually in a denim jacket and an engineer's cap, goggles and bandanna both loosely around his neck. Oftentimes walks around with a large knife on his belt and a cold brew in the other hand.
Username: Galvad Character Name: Rosencrantz Ravi Tanner Age: 25 Nationality: English (Great Britain) Known Family: Admiral Steven Tanner (father), Marie Tanner (mother), Sarah Joanna Tanner (younger sister), Philip Steven Tanner (older-brother), and Guildenstern Louise Tanner (younger-brother, twin of Sarah) Occupation: Student Specific Skills: As the father of an English admiral, and a student attending a highly esteemed private college Rosencrantz has a wide variety of skills. 1) Fencing 2) Comprehension of Literature 3) Firearms practice 4) Court Dancing 5) Political Sciences knowledge 6) He has some comprehension of military tactics, though he is not book-learned in the subject. Personality: he is… Well, a party boy. He drinks, parties, and skips his classes. He wants to sleep around with the ladies, but as of yet he has only been successful in getting a really bruised face from a combination of slaps and punches, which he took as “I’ll think about it”s. He also, however; has the bright side of being very intelligent naturally; allowing him to pick up a wide and diverse skill set and is very witty and funny in conversation. Bio: Rosencrantz was named after the Shakespearian character from the play Hamlet because his father was a large fan of the relationship between Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. He grew up mostly with his mother and siblings, for his father was always away on voyages for Queen and Country. On the occasions his father did return home it was a joyous occasion and his home-leave usually lasted several months. Rosencrantz decided to attend university in America, for a number of reasons, one of which was to become himself a sort of English ambassador to the country that had so recently broken away from the crown, in addition America was a faraway place, where tales of adventure and manly things were told. He discovered, when he arrived, that his proper sense of things was almost completely useless in America, so he became more than a little wild, finding a friend group that shared his vigor for trying out reckless freedom. Appearance: He is tall with dark hair, blue eyes, and he is generally unshaven. He wears large poufy English outfits, but he wears them with large burly American coats and hats, giving him an overall very scrappy look to him. He always carries a canteen with some good old fashioned brandy in his breast pocket along with a pair of fencing gloves that were given to him by his father when he left for America.

Leon stretched to get comfortable, he had been sitting for hours,on a hard wooden chair, in the heat of the Florida day, he had been writing down inventory of the harvest, taking stock of what was and what was not acceptable. The majority of it being cotton, but lately his father has been seeing the need for corn rise. His father was also considering lumber as many were still rebuilding from the War.
He massaged his aching hand as his mother stepped out onto the patio where Leon worked. He smiled faintly as his mother sat with elegance onto the seat beside him. A true Southern Belle his mother was, and his sister Grace was a close imitation. She had a handheld fan to keep her cool, but instead waved it for Leon, as any mother would do. "How far ah yew dear? Pleaze don't be out here too long, don't need yew passin' out." Leon put his head on the table, he hated having to do paperwork, but then again he hated to be one of the overseers out the field.
