I feel this is fairly obligatory. Post whatever you're reading at the moment. If, like me, you read about 15 things at once, just post whichever you picked up most recently, to save us all our sanity wink Then post again when you pick up something else.

Personally, I've been spending more time on my non-fic recently, but I'm more than halfway through "Titus Groan" and loving it.

Currently reading the next of the Leven Thumps books. It's not too bad. Obert Sky's style is kinda nifty, but I can only take it in small doses here and there. I like the whole "creating my very own universe" idea, and it works pretty well, but sometimes there are descriptions lacking in places that they would be useful and it can get a mite confusing to read.

Also, it's a bit dramatic for a young adult action/adventure novel. I've come across a few things that I'd love to quote into a letter-to-the-author and say, "...really? Like...really?" because that's just how it makes me feel sometimes. Repetitive in the course of events almost. Which may have a purpose later, but currently it's dull. Hence, small doses.

But otherwise it's not bad. Easy to read.

I was currently reading Glen Cook's "Black Company" series. I've fallen in love with his writing and I find it a joy to pick up his books whenever I can. Sadly, my fiance is at work, and while it might be a good paying job there are times where you must just sit there and find something to pass your time with. So, I've since gave him the book I was reading so he can surpass the time with something of quality instead of staring off in space.

The books are for more of an adult reader then a youth one. I say that not because of the content, but some of the words will even have the best checking the dictionary to discover their meanings. They're set in a fantasy sort of mid-evil world. The whole divided by good and evil scenarios take place in the first couple of books, but it drastically changes and you start to get to the point where you're not quite sure who is good, who is bad, and sometimes you're not quite sure what the hell is going on until the end.

No fiction currently, though I have a couple of books lined up. First book is one of The Dresden Files that I was loaned. I'm really looking forward to it. I've read one of the others and couldn't put it down.
I just almost finished Goetrek and Felix 1-3. When one of your main characters goal is to die in battle and you, as a reader, know that there are 12 more books in the series and a new one coming out next month, it really puts a damper on finishing as you know that both of your characters are going to survive for at least another 9 books. Takes all the anticipation out.

I am currently reading the Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan. I am really enjoying it. Rick Riordan is an amazing author. You don't have to know a great deal about Egyptian mythology (or Greek if you are reading the Percy Jackson series), because he explains the myths so well in the story. I love that fact that he has done tons of research on the different myths so that they are very accurate in this stories. After I finish The Red Pyramid, I am going to read The Lost Hero from him. The Lost Hero
contains Roman and Greek mythology (which I prefer over Egyptian myth). I can't wait! ^_^

I just finished Ice which was pretty good, though not quite as good as East.

@Horses: Let me know what you think of the Lost Hero, okay? I really enjoyed it; it's what I read right before Ice.

I just finished re-reading Anne Rice's The Mummy. Left wondering why she never wrote a sequel to it.

I have. 3nodding I really enjoyed it, and I almost think the Lost Hero is better, but that might just be because I read it more recently.

@ncsweet:
Quote:
“My faith in Christ is central to my life. My conversion from a pessimistic atheist lost in a world I didn't understand, to an optimistic believer in a universe created and sustained by a loving God is crucial to me," Rice wrote. "But following Christ does not mean following His followers. Christ is infinitely more important than Christianity and always will be, no matter what Christianity is, has been or might become.”

I think technically she's a Follower of Christ, which is almost the same as being a Christian.

rolleyes A Christian wanting to distance herself from her fellow Christians, because they reflect badly on her? For shame, Rice, that's not loving your brothers! You should be showing them how to be Christ-like and feeding them and visiting them in prison (or whatever), not distancing yourself from them in that way. You are a poor Christ-follower!

(I tell ya she's a madwoman.)

Meh...Christians call themselves 'Followers of Christ' in Africa and the Middle East because it stops conflict. Personally I don't think being a Christian is dependent upon whether you agree with you're fellow Christians; being a Christian just means you have faith in Christ, like Anne Rice said she does. That's actually probably more important to being a Christian then following any sort of religious trend.
