With the release of the most recent pokemon game on console, the ever elusive idea of a pokemon game where YOU control the pokemon in battle seems more and more likely, even taking into account the limitations of generating the nessecary 3D sprites everyone wants with the kind of mobility you would want. with that thought in mind, i felt someone should ask, Do you guys think that pokemon will ever move to a console game at any point where YOU control the pokemon, and if so, what would you want to see in it?

so are you referring to a console based "mystery dungeon" style game?

cause what I really want is another game like "Pokemon XD" but where there's actually random encounters, and don't pretty much get everything as part of the story. I know you could fail at capturing the shadow pokes you found, but I want a console based pokemon just like the classic handheld ones. Gyms and everything! a whole world you can explore, not just clicking on a point on the map and being warped there.

Though, I wouldnt mind a console based mystery dungeon if they did it right. Something like Diablo, but with pokemon, and more kid friendly ^.^

also, I think a Pokemon Tactic's game would be awesome xd you know, bring a party of 6 pokes in, and have some classic grid based tactics combat. you move your pokes around, they can learn up to 4 moves, but the different moves have different ranges/area's of effect. would be awesome 4laugh

I was thinking like the handhelds, in the style of XD, maybe with the option to customize your avi, but when you get to actually battling, you change screens into a either Randomly Generated Battle Area, for the wild, and normal trainer battles, or a predesigned arena for such battles as gym battles, or important story battles, where you control the Pokemon, each of whom has different skills and abilities, along with their moves.

i was thinking the same thing except instead of 4 moves, i would make it more like final fantasy's "mp" and give each pokemon unlimited inventory in terms of moves and give each move a cost. i would also make it speed based, meaning that each pokemon not only has a movement range, but also a speed to determine when they go. this would keep it from being a gang up on one pokemon at a time type of game. 3nodding

I think 4 moves would be good, by limiting what attacks you can bring in, it would emphasis the need to prepare for each mission.

I say they can "learn" all of their attacks by level up, but you equip 4 to bring into battle. before each mission equip the moves that you think would be the greatest asset to each poke.

this would build upon the tactics theme, and keep it pretty true to the pokemon name.

furthermore, not all poke would be able to learn all moves, it would be much like it is now, where only certain pokes learn certain moves.not not most water types can't learn an electric attack, but pelliper can learn shock wave. though i think I would work on altering the base stats of final evolutions so that they are more balanced.
