Taisora, Wieraiden Mid-point between technologic and medieval eras. In that order.
"The Land Closest to Heaven" is the name some have given this airborne continent, which hovers high in the skies, even above the mountains. Despite its altitude, once on its expanse, one would assume they were suddenly at sea level again, which may or may not be the result of the same magics that help hold it adrift. Originally, Taisora was a massive island in one of the largest of the world's oceans--its name taken from an old myth that it belonged to a race of "Mortal Angels"--however as millennia passed, and its land mass began to decrease, its inhabitants, people of all kinds of races, began to realize that it was slowly sinking beneath the ocean it occupied.
In an effort to preserve the amounts of history and civilization there, the most advanced at the time--the humans--along with the most spiritually powerful--the dragons--began the many attempts to lift the land out of the waters on their own, which often resulted in a brief conflict between the races, until eventually they agreed to take on the job as a collaboration project, and eventually succeeded in bringing the small continent to the skies.
Now it thrives far above the clouds, maintaining the flora and fauna in its geography while it was an island, while the humans began to spread, and the dragons slipped into their previous obscurity, only drawing mass amounts of attention when renewing the enchantments they set on the machines that kept their homeland afloat.
Across its length lies a thick mountain range, dotted here and there by forests, which tend to trail out a short ways, before dwindling into marshlands, plains, or desert. Small settlements dot the landscape, as do lakes, and rivers trace along the surface; the largest of which slices right through the greatest of all human cities--the rumored metropolis, known as Makibakoku.

Rules -- Everyone must post a profile before they begin. If possible, PM of it would be nice, too. I'm one of those weird people. <_< Check the characters list to see whether you've been approved before posting. Should this not be followed, you will be ignored. See the template towards the bottom for the preferred format.
-- No autoing. (aka. God moding) No one likes having their character controlled by someone else. The only exception to this rule is if the creator of the character specifically gives permission to do so.
-- Avoid double posting at all costs.
-- Each post MUST be detailed. I would prefer at least four sentences at an average minimum, but will make an occasional exception.
-- Pay attention and mind everyone's posts. Everyone's. No one likes being ignored.
-- Upon running your character into conflict with someone else's, you can beat the stuffing out of each other, however AVOID KILLING ONE ANOTHER.
-- Upon running your character into some form of romance, please, please don't be doing anything explicit. Hinting is alright, but don't actually describe it. x.x

Profiles
Name: Ryumi Nanaru Gender: Female Age: 25 Race: Ryushirei Origin: Ligurezaa Occupation: Unknown Quote: "Oh, no. Don't worry about it. I can get it back in its socket just fine! *CRACK!* Yep... Just fine..."
Appearance: Ryumi is short and very small, standing at 5'3", bearing a pale complexion and what most would call a scrawny build, with very little meat on her bones. She has peculiar hair, shaded in varying tones of silver and lavender, while styled in an array of spikes at the top, and falling loosely to the curve of her spine in the back. Her eyes, of a bloody crimson shade, possess thinly slit pupils, like those of the common demon, while her ears, also somewhat like those of the common demon, come to a dull point, and her canines are a bit more like fangs.
Protruding from her shoulder blades is a pair of small dragon wings, with a nearly black backside, and deep, tuscan red underside, with which she can only barely fly. From her tailbone extends a long, thin, silver shaded tail, which ends in a thick, pale lavender tuft, like that of a lion.
Attire: A loose, short-sleeved, pale maroon top with azure trim, whose front and collar styled like that of a traditional kimono, and whose shoulders are slit, while the back is entirely open, save a pair of thin, strap-like pieces that cross beneath her wings. Around her waist, a long, tattered blue sash, and at her legs, baggy, knee-length black pants, whose hems are bound to her knees, while her feet are adorned in simple leather zori.
Accessories: A pair of black, fingerless gloves, with thin steel bracers, a plated vambrace on each forearm, and a weapon belt, entirely vacant of any armaments.
Additional/Random Information: Though she looks like a demon, Ryumi is nothing of the sort, instead just a mischievous girl, who bears no ill will until given proper reason to. She comes from a technologically 'advanced' race, however unlike them, she does not share the same immense fascination with technology as most Ryushirei have. Instead, she seems to have a strange fear of it, which may or may not be connected to some unknown incident in her past. I say unknown, because she's an amnesiac, knowing only her name, age, and her race for certain, while everything else is a mere blur to her.
While her race is advanced, it is also notorious for being comprised mostly of thieves and scoundrels, due to the many that have abused the natural ability to blend with their surroundings in the dark, making it difficult for her to carry on peacefully. While she herself is honest, the fact she's Ryushirei immediately puts an unwanted label on her, and often gets her shunned. She often gets discouraged by this fact, and will remain shy and timid around new people until they know and accept her.
Image: (Coming soon?) _________
Name: Sango Akki Datenshi Gender: Female Age: 19 Race: Moon elf Origin: She doesn't remember... Occupation: Works as a bartender during the week, from the evening to the early morning. {8:00pm or so until 3:00a.m.} And on the weekends, she continues the morning shift. {3:00a.m. until 8:00a.m.} She also puts in a few extra hours because she is the co-owner of the place. Quote: "I munna eat choo." *smiles and picks up the kid.*
Appearance: {{She isn't the normal colour, she isn't purple, she is a pale peachy colour, but she looks nearly white. She also has the same, dark black hair and she also has long blue bangs, hanging at the bridge of her nose.}}Sango
Attire and Accessories: She tends to wear black and blue clothing, jeans and complicated pants especially ((complicated as in lots of zippers and laces and such)). She alsways wear checkered arm bands and a checkered belt, the classic black and white, and she wears a spiked cat-collar with a tag, inscribed Sango, along with a bell. She tends to wear a tank top, a long-sleeved shirt over it, followed by a thin, black jacket. On her wrists, she has a bracelet made out of a guitar string, another checkered arm band, and odd, thin bracelets.{All above her checkered arm band on her right arm.}
Additional/Random Information: She is normally the calm, quiet one. She is happy, yes, but her thoughts can be distracted by past memories of pain. She doesn't let it get in the way of her closest friends, which she doesn't have many of, and so she treasures them dearly. Her friends are like the family she never had. She can also be quite sarcastic and on a really good day, or when exposed to some sort of sugar, she can be super hyper and active. She is also quite passionate about her art; drawing and such, along with her writing. For more details, get to know her.

The small village of Sinseji... A quiet settlement, bearing only evidence of success and prosperity in these times, where war still waged even after fifteen years. It belonged to neither side, and sat right on a continental trade route, which kept it right on the map. Its people were fortunate, having rarely experienced much of the war itself, and believed they never would, though the elder of its population expected otherwise. Instead of coming under attack, it only received visits from representatives of the two clashing nations, each trying to gain the village as an ally, but with each refusal, the chances of more forceful measures continued to rise.
For the time, its people could only enjoy what peace they had then, and worry about troubled times later. At least... most of them could.
"Please, sir, you must have an opening in your shop? I desperately need some source of income for my stay here."
"What, so you can clean out my entire inventory when you get in here? Listen, lady. I'm not that stupid, and I'm only going to say this one more time. I ain't hiring, now beat it!"
"But you've a sign in your window right there!" A small, lavender and silver haired girl jabbed a bare finger at the very board in the window as she yelped, becoming increasingly discouraged by the lack of effect her previous persuasion had. She'd spent the last couple of days searching high and low for a place to take rest from her travels, and this was the third settlement she'd come to. She knew the war made it hard on most communities, but this one seemed to be doing so well!
"Hn... Yes, I suppose I do." The tall, lanky shopkeep she'd been talking to turned, moving as if about to lead her inside, and glanced back as she shifted to follow, roughly shoving her back and slamming his door.
The lion-tailed lass squeaked, stumbling backward, and flailed her little dragon wings, unaware of the chickens passing right behind her, until she fell back into the middle of the flock, which provoked a burst of flying feathers, flailing birds, and startled cackling. The entire group had scattered, save for two, one of which leapt off her head as she sat up, while the other scratched and yanked irately at her tail.
"Dammit..."

Sango frowned as she passed by the inns and other settlements. She sighed as she looked around, slightly confused. "Where am I..?" She mumbled to herself. She walked along the path until she saw some scattering chickens. She walked off-side the path and saw someone on the ground. She walked over with asmall, but friendly smile and outstretched her hand. "Need some help up?" She asked timidly.

Eventually the small lass registered the abuse the chicken was making on her tail, having been turning her head at the same time, before abruptly slapping the creature away, twisting swiftly onto all fours to chase after it with an animalistic snap. She went, possibly, two or three paces, making vicious mock-animal noises at the cackling and fluttering avian along the way, before suddenly stopping, one arm extended straight out and hovering inches from the ground.
Her head turned almost mechanically, the end of her tail twitching, before startlingly crimson eyes locked on the hand extended towards her, and then followed it up to the owner of such an appendage. With a few blinks, she sweatdropped, before suddenly sitting upright on her haunches with a boisterous, yet nervous laugh. Oh... this wasn't going to end well.
"Help? Sure! Just eh... gimme a moment to rub the dust off my hands..." One of said hands was scratching the back of her head, ruffling her spiny lavender and platinum hair with just a slight puff of dust wafting out, until both hands came down and slapped at her thighs, sending additional plumes of dust into the air, at which she sneezed. Not well at all... She took a moment to regain her bearings, drawing in a slight sniff, before rubbing her palms on her freshly dusted pants, soon reaching to accept the extended hand in one of her own.

She helped the girl up with a smile and looked her over. "Hello, I am Sango, Sango Datenshi. And you are?" She awaited an answer as she placed her hands into the pockets of her torn up, black pants. There were zippers, patches, belts and laces sewn into her pants but she loved them and they made the pants look uniqure and cool. Her black tank top clung to her body and drifted up at her hips and her jacket swayed past her knees. Her accessories weren't noticeable at the moment, but she had many of them.

Once on her feet, the scrawny lass ruffled the back of her head again, twitching the small pair of dragon wings her shoulder blades kept in tow. "Thanks, and I'm Ryumi. Ryumi Nanaru."
She looked like she could have passed as an early teenager, but she had a voice that seemed just a little mature for someone so young. Most of her clothing was loose, and aside from her belt, she didn't seem to have any accessories to speak of, despite the shop owner's accusation of her thieving qualities, which... she most certainly did not have.
"It's um... nice to meet you," she added almost hesitantly, the tufted end of her tail sweeping against the dusty ground. A slight wince twitched the side of her face; the very motion of her tail had only just reminded her of what the chicken had been doing to it just a few moments ago, which she inwardly cursed. If only she could have made the little monster her lunch...

She smiled and looked her over once more. "Are you hungry? Or hurt? I mean chickens can be vicious, I suppose." She said in a friendly tone, with a hint of sarcasm and mockery. She scrounged around in her pocket, tilting her head to the side to reveal her lip, nose, and eyebrow piercings. The nose ring on the right side of her nose was in the shape of a black star, with a tiny sapphire in the middle, while the lip ring was thin, with the ball on the rin having a star engraved on it, and her eyebrow piercing also had a star at the end of one side, and a black ball on the other side. She pulled out some coins and smiled. "Here, I don't need it. I don't eat much and you look famished." She reached out her hand once again, revealing the visible part of her checkered arm socks, along with three small rings, on her index, middle, and second last finger.

The girl blinked, scratching absently at one of her vambraces while contemplating the offer. Was it honest? Hesitantly she reached forward to accept it, a very meticulous caution in her motions, before gathering it up and sliding it into the little pouch she kept at her side. "Umm... thanks," she began, bowing her head, before looking off down the road.
"...Now I'll just have to see if I can't find a place that will actually do business with me."

"You are looking for a job? I own a bar. I just need to find my way back to it. I would happily offer you a job, if you can pass the first day." She said with a smile. She looked around. "Where are we anyway?" She asked curiously, looking for a sign of some sort. "I need to get back.. home..."

"Eastern edge of Sinseji," Ryumi replied without even really thinking of it. "And I have been looking for a job. In fact, I was trying to apply for one before that jackass slammed the door in my face." She jabbed a finger at the door to the shop they'd been standing in front of, turning a short, crimson leer at the "help wanted" sign STILL sitting in the window, before shuffling her feet and rubbing the back of her head.

"Oh really? Well, we're both in luck then. I'm from Aiko Village, just north of here." She took a step forward. "Would you like a job?" She commented in a friendly tone. "If we are where I think I am... then my work is not too far from here." She paused and looked around, finding a bit of recollection from this place in her lost memories. She frowned slightly then continued forward, knowing the girl would follow.

Ryumi blinked, her tufted tail swaying absently from side to side, before taking a glance around, and then shifting to fall in step. She didn't react at all to the lass being Ryushirei... Why did that make her nervous?

She smiled lightly and walked forward. She couldn't think of anything to talk about. No conversation topics came to mind. She marched forth in silence and glanced back to see if the girl was following. She looked back ahead and lead their way to Aiko Village.
