The instant I saw it I knew that it reminded me of an assassin, but I couldn't exactly remember which one. Then I was thinking on it really hard and it hit me. I feel kind of stupid now, as Coldsnap is one of my favorite sets and it took me a day or two to figure it out.

I really like subpar cards, he is perfect for me.
I'm building a tribal assassin deck, and I use him with unearth and phyrexian reclamation.

I didn't like the card when it was out ><'' They should have had him cost 2 unstead.
it's a sorcery speed doomblade, that can be reused maybe 3 times (unless you have a life gain deck or something) it has a heafty enough price with it's recursion
Good job with the avi game though ^^ Maybe we'll try to have more of these, Too bad Gaia's economy = s**t now cause we'd be able to get a lot more interesting magic card avi's

He works fine with scarblade elite too in my deck.
