Lucy dreamed about this place and the dreams nagged her until she decided to return here. Hardly anything around was familiar, but the last time she had seen this place it was pouring rain and she had been a cub stumbling through the mud. She took a few steps into the cave and sniffed the air. It smelled of earth and very faintly of other creatures.

It was here she had the first chance to really meet other lions. She had spent so much time running and hiding as a cub that it was hard to meet or befriend anyone. It was a small wonder that she managed to befriend Ghiki, a somewhat serious lemur.

As if on cue the small creature bounced into the cave and lept up onto her shoulder. "I told you to wait, Lucile."

The patched lion frowned, her ears drooping. That was one of the things she didn't like about Ghiki, he was always so formal using her full name. "Well, I figured out where we needed to go."

"Well, you could've waited for me."

Lucy huffed and rolled her eyes. "I suppose."

Ghiki sat up and turned back toward the mouth of the cave. "Someone comes."

It was sunny, Squall was in a good mood and so he kept the storms far away today. Purple static crawled across his body freely. He truly was feeling great. Something about this area just made him smile and feel almost at home. Funny thing is, he had no idea where he was. He had been looking for a pride and at this point he just wanted to give up for a while and relax.

Before his eyes was a cliffside full of caves. One big one stuck out. It looked like a nice place to sit and with a good view. He hadn't seen the lioness and lemur enter. So, he let himself into the entryway.

In a heartbeat of seeing her his static vanished. He never liked to show strangers his powers. He wanted to appear normal and be treated just like everyone else. It was more comfortable that way. But in all the shock he forgot to apologize for intruding. He just froze. (A slightly shy god, odd I know)

Lucy's ears perked and she turned at the sound of pawsteps coming into the cave. "Uh...hello...?" There was something familiar about the male who stood before her, though it was a rough remembrance from long ago. "I don't think I'm intruding....?" Her head cocked to the side. If this male lived here now, certainly his scent would be fresher than the rest.

Ghiki turned around again on Lucy's shoulder, small front paws perched on the lioness' shoulder and tail wrapping around the female's neck. He regarded the male lion in silence. Clearly there is some spark of rememberance there, with the way Lucile looks at him.

The light coming through the cave opening stretched far enough in to show him the cave's supposed owner. A white lioness with orange-brown spots and a lemur sitting regally on her shoulder. Squall imagined she must look much better than him. After all he was a homeless intruder. Plus his fur probably looked all puffy from the static that was there moments before.

Squall was confused by her remark. Mainly because he had assumed this was her cave automatically. Of coarse she wasn't intruding in her own cave. "Sorry! I think I am, intruding that is," he said and then realized he was being a dummy. She must have meant that she was doing the same thing as him, just wandering in. Though it was first come first serve. There were other caves anyway.

He was preparing to just turn around and leave with his head down to show he was sorry to the lovely lady, but her glance stopped him. "I'm sorry. Do I know you?" Once again he felt rude. First intruding, then forgetting and acquaintance. A few sparks began to drift across him, which he didn't notice.

"I think....maybe I do know you. You seem familiar, but I can't place it." Did she just see sparks? Lucy just dismissed it, it must be a trick of the light. "That does seem odd doesn't it, to know someone but not remember from where?" She laughed, a bit embarrassed. "My name is Lucile, most call me Lucy for short. Except that one." Her gaze flicked to the lemur on her shoulder.

The lemur gave her a light bonk on the head. "'That one' is named Ghiki." He shifted to Lucy's other shoulder in time to avoid a retaliating swat from the lioness.

"Owh. Meanie."

"Manners, Lucile."

Lucy frowned at the lemur and turned her attention back to Squall. "Don't mind him. What's your name, if you don't mind me asking?"

The way she talked to him and her friend Ghiki was comforting. Squall didn't feel stressed or awkward staying to chat. He smiled.

"Oh no not at all Lucy! It's Squall. I don't really have any nicknames besides what my sister's call me, so just Squall will do. Nice to meet you and you too Ghiki. Now I really wonder how you might know me. I'm not really part of a pride. I wander a lot, so I don't really know anyone... hmmm. Maybe you are a family friend."

((Sorry for the short reply. I'm off to work, just thought I'd add a quick post.))

"Could be, do you have any brothers or sisters?" Lucy sat back on her haunches, her tail wrapping around her paws. Ghiki's perch shifted higher, so he sat in a birdlike position on the lioness' shoulder.

(( S'okay. Short tag too. ))

"Yeah. I have one adopted older sister, a younger brother and sister, and another older sister. One's bright blue and wears flowers and pears, two are mostly green, and one kinda has a print on her fur like a giraffe," he said with a laugh. He assumed she didn't see that coming. He was from a unique family for sure.

He allowed himself to sit and relax as well. Little didn't he know he'd actually spend his afternoon with someone to talk to. Was this what he was missing out on?

It was an odd family to be sure, but it wasn't too uncommon of an occurrence considering how many orphan cubs there were in days past. Lucy's eyes widened at the mention of a giraffe printed lioness. There couldn't be too many of those, could there?

"Your giraffe printed sister....is her name Airi by chance?"

Ghiki kept silent and tried not to stare at Squall. Something about the young male seemed odd but he could not place it.

Squall stood up and looked excited. So, she did know his family! "Yes Airi! That's one of my big sisters. My mom and dad found her as a cub."

"How do you two know each other?" He wondered if Lucy was part of that harem Airi used to talk about. There was a group of lionesses and one male, and if Squall remembered correctly Airi was in fact invited in. He remained uncertain as to wether or not she ended up joining. He didn't know any of Airi's friends as a matter of fact. They hadn't seen each other in a while. So how could Lucy recognize him?

"I met Airi when we were both still small, it was during that terrible storm a while ago." Lucy's tail flicked back and forth idly."I came here, to this cave, to get out of the rain. It's where I met more lions than I'd ever seen in my lifetime." The patched lioness smiled, as much as any lion could. "Airi was the only one little like me, except you and your other younger brothers and sisters. Though you all were very small then and Airi was so proud of being a new big sister."

Ghiki slid off Lucy's shoulder for the time being and sat close beside her. The male across from him didn't seem particularly threatening, especially since Lucile seemed to know him.

Squall looked excited. Lucy's story sounded a bit familiar. "I think I know what you're talking about! My mom used to always tell me about the day my siblings and I were born. It was in a cave during a big storm. She's pretty absent-minded and never remembered where the cave was." He always hoped that that storm wasn't his fault. To this day he wouldn't be sure on that.

He looked back and forth, joyfully analyzing the cave. He couldn't believe the odds.

"So, what happened to you, after the storm?" The story ended abruptly whenever his mom told it. She never said what happened to everyone. Squall imagined they all went their separate ways. He hoped they all lived happy lives.

He still continued to hold back the sparks that traveled across his fur. She must already know the truth about him, but that was no reason to draw attention to it.

Lucy hadn't recognized him for what he was when she saw him last. She was too young to have realized it. How was she to know gods could be born just like any normal lion? "I stayed here a while and only left when most everyone else had gone their separate ways. I wander here and there as I please, don't really call one particular place home."

The lioness stretched lazily. "I guess its a good thing I came back here. It's always nice to see someone familiar, even if you wouldn't remember me."

Ghiki eyed the pendant around Squall's neck. It was a simple thing really, but adornments were rather rare and special things to the lions. He was curious about what significance it might have.

"And I'm very sorry I don't. Though if I had memory since birth that would be kinda cool," he replied, "But wether or not I remember, its still a blessing to meet you. You showed me where I'm from-"

His own sudden curiosity cut him off. "But wait does that mean you raised yourself since you were a cub?" He would have been staring at the lemur and wondering what he was looking at like that, but he was distracted with curiosity. You don't meet lions who were raised alone very often. His mother and father were both orphaned. If they weren't so busy with giving birth in the cave they might have heard Lucy's story and asked her, like Airi, if she wated to stay with the family.

Who knows, maybe Zahina's will was at work and Lucy was meant to raise herself. It probably made her very strong.

"Mostly yeah. I have vague memories of others from when I was very young. Could've been my parents but..." Lucy shrugged. Being by herself was a fact of life by now, though she envied Airi and her siblings a little for having a big family. "..I couldn't tell you. I managed well enough and I know a lot of places to hide, if you ever need one." The lioness laughed, most of her childhood had been spent running and hiding from larger creatures. Everything was much more relaxed now that she was less afraid of being gobbled up by something or stepped on.

"I did enjoy what time I did get to spend with your family though."
