Caring is thinking with your heart

Des awoke from his unconsciousness, the things Topher said rushing through his head, what he said about Venomoth. Regaining his senses, he found out he was in an empty room. The only light was the one above him, and the light only stretched about three feet from Des, in all directions. Confused, Des took a step, but suddenly, a large, burly first emerged from the darkness and gripped his arm. "What the?" he thought. He reached down for a Pokeball, but was soon tossed into the air. He landed with a thud. Dazed, Des tried to reach for a Pokeball, but his were gone. Where'd they go? Frantically searching, a light turned on, blinding Des for about a second, and there he saw Dergan, with a note in her hand. She handed it to him, and he read it.

'Desmond. Your failure to defeat Topher Skelver will not go unpunished. You have disobeyed the Nightwalker Oath by putting your feelings ahead of the better of the group. For this, you will pay. I have your Pokemon. They will be returned once I know I can trust you to stay true to our ways. Lord Verin."

As he finished reading, Dergan launched a punch into Des' gut, and he flew a few feet. The Slaking rushed forward and picked up the Gym Leader by his legs, and held him as if he were a punching bag. She then proceeded to smack him in the side of the head, before tossing him again. The lights turned off as Dergan roared, and rushed towards Des.

It was brutal beating Des would never forget. Opening his eyes, he saw that he was in a hospital room. He tried to move his arms. 'Okay.' he thought. 'Those still work. How about the legs?' He moved his two legs. He wasn't paralyzed, which was good. As he got up, he put his hands on his head, trying to get rid of the headache he had. Something was different. Grabbing a mirror, Des looked into it with shame. The upper right part of his head was bandaged up, including his right eye. He tried to get up, and after a few seconds of groaning in pain, he was walking towards the door. He was going to see Verin.

Think hard.
