Now I've always been one to talk with my hands and walk swinging my arms carelessly, this of course is a bad habit. Though it has become much worse over the years.

And I just find it really funny to stand back and to actually watch people either walk or talk, and it's surprising how many you'll find use their hands when either talking or walking. I've wondered as to why this is of course, but I doubt I'll ever know.

There have been studies concerning talking with your hands and people who do so are more likely to retain information more so than a person who doesn't. I found that fairly interesting considering I'm such a ditz anyway.

But back to the matter at hand! I've found my little habit does tend to wound quite a few people. I'll get carried away in telling a story, someone will walk up behind me, and bada-bing, bada-boom my hand flies at either their face, stomach, or groin. It's really awful if you're a guy. I'm getting sick of apologizing too but I still do it.

It's funny that you bring this up. I think it's easier to tell you a story with your hands, especially if it's a funny one. I was in my biology class and we had a sub who would creep up behind you and eavesdrop on your conversation.

With that said I would like to share my story that's relevent to the subject.

Somehow we got on the subject of Michael Jackson. Well, my friend was trying to remember how he moonwalked or something. Well, she did the little thingy when he took his hand down, pointed his finger and brought it up in the air really fast. Well, let's just say when said hand was coming up, the sub came up behind her and my friend slapped her in the head! rofl The next thing you heard was a slap and a cry of pain! Let's just say she stopped eavesdropping for the rest of the class. LOL! I laughed so hard and what made it even worse was that my friend's face turned red, not believing at what she did, and started to cry!!! rofl

I find it easier to connect my visual learning into conversation than avoiding crotches and pain (gonads and strife!)

It also allows for more random instants anyway.

Studies show that people are more likely to talk with their hands in their native language. It actually makes learning a foreign language easier if you incorperate it into the process.

I use my hands to communicate all the time. I don't even know sign language, but I can have whole conversations with my friends without even saying a word. sweatdrop

My best friend and I know each other so well, that we can communicate with just gestures or even just by the look on each other's face we know what the other is thinking.
