That's a good question. I've seen a lot of people get yelled at for asking too....
Well, most people get angry because they've had to work hard for their gold, and they don't think it's fair that some people should get gold cheaply and easily through a donation. You will meet some people who are kind-hearted donaters, but there aren't that many nowadays on gaia.
It's okay to ask for a donation, or just 'a little help' from maybe some of your friends, because, well, you're friends. But most gaians you don't know won't take this lightly.
There are no really fast ways of earning gold. But some of the fastest ways are
Booty Grab. Go to the
aquarium forum and search for a topic that says something like, 'glowing!' The best ones are full tanks (17 fish) and fish such as dolphins and airsharks. (of course, everyone has different favorites

To play, you click on the person (who created the topic)'s tank if it says BOOTY GRAB. Playing is pretty self-explanatory, just move your mouse back and forth to catch the falling gold.
zOMG. This one is also pretty self-explanatory, just click on the link and it'll help you get started. It takes some time to get to a good gold-earning stage on this game, but once you get to a level 5.0 or higher, you can orb-farm in Papa Saw. That's a really good way to earn gold, and it's pretty fun, too.
There are some other ways, but these two are my favorites.
Also, my tip on earning gold: Don't stress too much. Have fun, play with friends, and soon enough, you'll have tons of gold.... It's very tedious earning gold when it's boring and no fun at all. Also, give yourself a goal to reach.
