"Yes yes, it seems my celler has been overrun by--" "Let me guess: Rats." "Well, yes." "Way to be original there, guy."
The man looked dourly at the odd little half-elf. She stared perniciously right back with arms crossed. Fairly confused, the man took a step backward. "If you change your mind--" "Buy a goddamn cat, for Tor's sakes'!" The blond bellowed after the retreating figure. When the door closed behind him, the half elf skipped from the door, grumbling sourly in elvish.
No, she would not start her adventure the same old way. The soon-to-be-famous (said she herself) Fyvre Aetheart wouldn't start like everyone else!
"BRING IT UP!" A sailor interrupted her thoughts as she walked past a boarding ship. She stopped to watch as a few men carried on a large crate, followed after by some robed people that looked like mages. One of the sailors stepped off and headed in her direction, checking something off on a clipboard. He ignored her presence, up until she spoke. "So hey--where's this ship headed?" He turned, bothered to be bothered, but the girl's soft looks made him less scary. "East. Some witch-folk job. What's it to you?" "Have any openings?" She smiled, brightly. The burly man laughed in her face. "Can't say there is, for little things like you. You should go kill rats or something." "SCREW RATS!" She exploded at him, arms waving dramatically.

(( lol sorry its short, i lost my original post >.<; ))
After a long and careful observation of the scene, one of the dark robed figures left to the docks to see what was going on, "Is there an issue here, we would like to be leaving as soon as we possible can, and to be quiet honest your making a bit of a scene down here now so what might be the problem going on here?" Kazito asked of the large man as he walked up behind him looking over this woman that was with him.

((^^; That's fine!))
The sailor visibly grimaced at the approach of the mage--he wasn't comfortable with magic, it seemed. "Ain't nothin' for you to worry about. Some greenhorn twerp just wants to get a free ride." "WHO YOU CALLING TWERP?!" She fumed. "Look sweetie, this is serious business. The ship is closed off to newcomers for security reasons. And this isn't just some passenger ship, either. Your tiny sticks for arms couldn't be much use in swabbing the decks. I'd expect that your only use would be in distracting my men, which I'm just not going to risk. Go home." "#**$% YOU!" She flicked him off. "I'll have you know I'm FYVRE AETHEART--partner of the great Scyver Cervantas. I have more experience in my pinky finger than all of your goddamn men combined." He rolled his eyes. "First of all, I've never heard of that guy. Secondly, even if that was true, I don't have time for loud-mouths. I've got a ship to run. There's a tavern down the street--they might find your stories a little more useful. If they don't, well, there's always selling your looks." And with that, the man turned and walked away. The woman shouted some vulgar expletive, then double flicked him off, though he didn't even care enough to turn around and see.
"...AND YOUR MOTHER WAS A MINOTAUR WHORE!!" With that final shout, Fyvre seemed to calm down (though, she was still tensed and ticked off looking). Her seagreen eyes flicked over at the mage, a bit distrustfully.

The mage shook his head as he watch the sailor walk off, waiting till he was of considerable distance away. "Well you do have quiet a mouth on you there now don't you," Kazito started as he turned back to the woman, "So then I'll ask you, why is it that you are here? I would take it from your reaction being quiet vocal that your not here for just a ride." He crossed his arms looking the woman over trying to find some potential in this small figure.

She made a motion with her head as if to fling hair out of her eyes (though there was none to be flung). In a prideful and calm demeanor, she looked over him a little more carefully. "I'm looking for work. It's just, nobody seems to recognize my skill. I've sailed before--I know the ropes, so to speak. But I'm much more useful as a guard. Gone dungeon diving a few times, enough anyway."
Now that she was finally being taken seriously, a smiled erupted on her face. Suddenly very amiable, she reached out and eagerly shook the mage's hand (not pausing to allow him a choice). "Fyvre Aetheart. Half-elf swashbuckler extraordinaire." Her healthy and golden hand contrasted with his thin and pale. She was stronger than she looked.

The mage took a quick glance down at the hand taking his, surprised at the strength that she did have, "Well its nice to meet you then miss Fyvre Aetheart, I'm Kazito Henasai, Archmage of the 9th level." he introduced himself before retracting his hand from hers, "but what the sailor said earlier is true, this isn't a job for those less experienced, so if you really are confident in your skills I could hire you on as a my personal guard, at least that would get you on the ship and in part of the job" Kazito said once again crossing his arms and raising and eyebrow, waiting to see what she would say.

"That bulky minotaur spawn can go suck on a salmon." The woman suddenly seethed, bearing her teeth. She looked distinctly feral for several moments as she searched the boat for him--no doubt thinking about flicking him off for a third time--but returned to normal after failing to find the target. "Eh-yeh, I have the same (if not more) skill as the guys you can hire at the Blades Tavern. And I come with a no-backstabbing guarantee!" To prove the claim, the woman posed heroically and then saluted. "Believe me you, I got in more 'n one scuffle with those meatheads. Nyaha, they banned me from the place after I crushed a few Blades. Don't like competition, I guess."
Calming, Fyvre looked Kazito in the eye. "What's the wage and work prediction?" Her face became scary. "If you say anything about rats, so help me Helm that ship will be leaving minus one mage!"

The mage shrugged to her question, "Well I'll be perfectly honest with you I have no idea whats its going to be like but considering all the other magic users hired for this job I highly doubt that there will be rats to worry about, and as far as your wage, for a personal guard I'll be paying you hmmm," Kazito scratched the back of his head as he though about the sum for a short moment, "would say three times the average pay rate for such services be an acceptable then."

The half-elf's eyes narrowed. "You gotta be kidding. Three times as much--90 gold--a week? And this is first offer, you're not even bothering to barter. What's the catch? You a pervert??" The longer she talked, the more extreme her expression, until she was almost demonic and yelling. "Listen mister, you better tell me up front right now, 'cause if I find out later that you were just looking for a concubine, I'll--" The girl went on quite a rant about something horrific regarding lucky charms and her pet wolves. "--you got that?!"

The mage simply laughed and shook his head, "Honey please, I might be a pervert, but you couldn't handle my needs in the end anyway, so let us get back on track of your pay then, what do you think is a fair price range for your services, I thought my offer was rather generous considering you probably won't find a better paying job in this dull city, but hey thats up to you I can easily just get back on the boat." He could tell that she had a fighting spirit so getting a rise out of her didn't seem to be too difficult in the end.

"What do you mean, I can't handle your needs?!" Fyvre exploded, rather impulsively. Immediately after, she face-palmed and grew straight-faced: his words and interest weren't something she cared about, but the rudeness had got to her nonetheless. "Alright, you have yourself a guard. But look here, guy, I will be referred to by name. None of this 'honey' crap, got it??" She shook a warning fist, but retreated to a more relaxed position soon after.

Kazito couldn't help but let a smirk reach across his face with what she had said, "Well ok, I hadn't intended on calling you by anything other than your name, but if you do feel the need to set things straight by all means." He took a quick glance over the at the ship to check on the ready status before his sight returned to the woman infront of him, "Well I would suggest that if you have anything that you would like to get here in this city that you do so before we depart, which should be in the next hour give or take, as long as these damn sailors don't sit on their lazy asses anymore."

"Pfft like I would walk around unprepared. I'm a professional--I carry what I need." She made a quick jab in the air at her pack, then proceeded toward the ship.
One of the sailors moved in the way. "This is off-limits." The woman shook a finger. "Ah-ah-ahhh~♪ I'm a bodyguard of my mage friend, mister Kazito Henasai here." He looked at Kazito, expecting some sort of explanation.
