As the rain began to fall, a figure could only just be made out in the darkness. Suddenly, a bolt of lightening streaked the sky, the light glinting off of the figure's blade. The figure, a young man, stood on the steeple of an old church, long ruined by fire and years of neglect. Bats hung from the rafters, huddled together to keep warm. Suddenly, the young swordsman leaped from the steeple and descended into the darkness below, his cloak billowing in the updraft and the bats flapping wildly as he fell. It had begun.

A young-looking boy, perhaps in his teens, strolled the dark streets of a town unknown to him at the time. With him he carried only two objects: a leather-bound notebook, and a katana, tucked away in it's sheath. These objects rendered the seemingly young boy useless for both finding a job and a place to stay. He had been walking for hours trying to find both, but no one seemed interested in helping him. Up ahead, in a small park, he saw a wooden bench where he could sit and rest his legs. After a few minutes of silence, a quiet rustling was heard from a tree behind the bench. The boy reached for his katana as a large man with a gun appeared from behind the tree. "What are you going to do, eh?" growled the man in an old Cockney accent, "You can't be more than 18! Trying to get me with a sword. Yeah, right!" The man brandished his gun, trying to scare the boy off. "Add 200 years to that and you'll be right.", the boy said, "Now give me back my book. I know you have it." The man brandishing the gun looked dumbfounded. "Oh, you mean this book? Is it some kind of diary?" The man had just started to open the front cover when the boy slashed his katana at the man's arm, knocking the gun to the ground. Kicking the gun aside, the boy pointed the point of his katana at the man's throat. "Don't make me do this; I'm a bit squeamish. Now give me back my book." The man hesitantly obliged, handing him his notebook. "Who are you?" the man stuttered. "Call me Nobis. It means, 'Nobody'."

The man on the steeple leaped down, drifting through the air. His coat fluttered in the wind, and the bats swirled around him. As he landed, his coat billowed slightly and his sword was revealed. Suddenly, he leaped backward, drawing his blade. Suddenly, the shadow fiends appeared. "Away with you, demons, you haven't taken me down for this long and you won't start now!" He landed and swung his blade to the right, hacking a large cut in the jaw of one of the fiends. He sensed, somewhere in the night, someone who could help him. "You shall return to from where you came..." He ran forth, fighting anything that got in his way.

Nobis tucked the notebook back into his long coat, re-sheathed his sword, and made his way down another street. 'I had to have seen a sign or something on the way here.', he thought to himself, 'Where am I?'
Suddenly, a loud fluttering sound came from round the corner. Nobis looked up to see a large, cathedral-type building looming close by. He drew his katana slowly, wanting not to make any noise. As he drew closer to the doors of the cathedral, he saw that the glass in the windows had been shattered and blackened; possibly by a fire. Nobis counted at least ten foot-pairs in the building by the sound; there could have been more. He then heard a woman cry, "Stop! No, please...stop!!!". The voice was coming from within the cathedral itself. Nobis took a few steps back and ran full speed at the door, kicking it wide open. Instead of a woman in need, Nobis found himself surrounded by a flock of black hooded creatures. He tried desperately to fight them off, but his katana seemed to pass right through them. "This is very problematic." Nobis thought aloud.

Out of the corner of his eye, the swordsman noticed a seemingly-young man enter the cathedral. "Really, is this actually happening?" He began to rush toward the man, swinging his blade if the fiends drew too close. He slid in front of the man before a group of fiends could close in. "Back, fiends, you shall not have him! You, you need to get out of here, or get somewhere safe. Your blade won't work on them." Suddenly, a fiend scratched the swordsman on the arm. "Ah! Dammit." He began dispatching the fiends as swiftly as he could.

Nobis, not wanting to get in the way, stepped to the side of the cathedral where the fiends seemed to stay away from. 'Who is that?', Nobis thought to himself, 'and why didn't Tokugawa's katana not work?'. There were too many questions racing through Nobis' head at that time. But the main question he wanted answered was the one he had been asking himself for years: 'Who am I?'
Nobis watched as the mysterious man finished the last of the monsters. He looked around to make sure the fiends had all been vanquished. The man was tall and pale, wearing almost all black. Nobis, being wary of vampires, recited the old Pactum Cruorum, "Monsterum Tarteri, morire!" Seeing that the man did not burst into flames, Nobis sighed, "Sorry. Old habit...Um, thanks for helping me. I'm Nobis. You are...?"

The swordsman bowed. "I'm Ilyard, it is nice to meet you, Nobis. I don't meet many pleasant people anymore." He sheathed his blade and then turned, surveying the area. "They seem to be gone, which is good...hopefully they stay that way. The shadow fiends have been after me for years." He sat down facing Nobis. "Was that a spell of some sort?"

"Of sorts. It means, 'Monster of Hell, Die'. A bit morbid for a spell created by Ghandi. You can say it any language and it will still work." Nobis began to study Ilyard, looking him top to bottom. "How old are you?", he asked suddenly. "You don't look old enough to be ancient, but you also look too old to be young. I'd say about 106. Am I right? Then again, you can be 500 years old and look like a 12 year old."

"What a question to ask a stranger...but I'm 300 years old. My body is that of a 21 year old man, as I desired it to look. How about you, since you asked me I should have the same chance to ask you." Ilyard stood and walked over to Nobis. He didn't look young, but Ilyard had a feeling he was much older than he appeared.

Walks through the streets, doe he had ears,a tail, and a sword by his side it seemed like the only people who can see them are him and people he want to be see his true from. He walks in front of a run down crunch. "So is there where I'll find the answers I need."He walks in not know what to look for."Wha a mess!"Looks through books and bits of trash.Sighs and counties his search.

Rikku, a young man searching for revenge against a murderer who killed his family walked through a dark deserted street. The rain had started falling a little and his sleeveless jacket got drop-like stains of water. The denim jacket concealed a chestplate, two knives and a dagger attatched to a rope for reeling in opponents. Attached to his belt were a holsteres sword and 10 flash bombs. He was trained in 3 styles of martial arts and learned expert mastery of his weapons. He was now an assassin. Seeking out and killing anyone tied to the murderer. Making himself known to the wretch before killing him. Rikku looked to the sky with a piercing stare. No-one was to get in his way of justice.

Ilyard looked curiously behind him. "Did you hear that, Nobis? Someone else must be here...the fiends are slipping up." He stood and turned toward the noise. "Either come with me or stay here, it is your choice." He began to walk slowly in the direction of the shuffling sounds.

Rikku walked calmly further down the street. His weapons clinked against his form fitted armour and his metal books and gauntlets shined in the rain. He heard a few noises but attributed them to the rough nature of the area he was in.

Ilyard slowly approached a strange man...at least, he thought it was a man. "Hello...what are you doing here? You're aware that you're defiling a sacred place by destroying that book, correct? Though it has been abandoned, I won't stand for it. State your purpose here unless you want to feel the cool, biting steel of my blade."
