So.. I was thinking of making a DnD (Dungeons and Dragons) style Role play here. the problem I would face is that I only have the third gen handbook, and nothing else to help players actually play. Plus, I've never been a DM. So I was wondering if people would be interested and would play (poll, and please discuss!). and of course, there is always the option for us to brainstorm and create our own style of DnD, with our own rules, skill sets and all that. so what say you?

A third edition D&D roleplay? That. . . might be interesting. I used to play second edition pretty religiously, but I'm not really familiar with all the ins and outs of third edition. I think I may have tried 3.5 once. At least we can still roll dice here! That's gotta count for something, right?
Anyway, were you thinking of creating a new world to play a campaign in, or using a pre-made one? I think either would be fine (the second option might be best if this will be your first time DM'ing), as long as we're not using the old Council of Wyrms campaign setting.

It's kinda been put on hold. I've thought about the ins and outs of it, and it seems rather hard to actually do it on a setting like gaia. Since often you have to roll more then one type of dice, and that would lad to a lod of excessive filler posting just to get dice rolls. BUt maybe with another person interested in figuring out how to get it to work in that gaia setting we can actually get it off the ground.
And I was thinking something new. kinda off the cuff on the fly kinda stuff. Some old and new creatures in there. Gotta figure out a feat system that works, that kinda thing.

Hmn, that's true. But what if you had a separate thread just for rolling dice in? I mean, plenty of forum-based RPs have threads with just profiles and OOC commentary, so it might be viable. But I could see how that would be pretty annoying to follow, too. . . Well, I'd love to help, but I'm not sure how useful I'll be, since third edition is pretty foreign to me.

yeah.. that's the other reason why I was thinking it would have to be something that we may just have to do from scratch. but we can easily use stuff from 2nd or 3rd (or even 4th) edition from DnD as a template. A base so to say as well as a check to make sure if it'll jive well.
