So in this thread you can talk about your ideas for stories or poems and ask for advice. You can also post bits and pieces of your works and have them critiqued. Chatting with other people is always a good way to get rid of writer's block. you never know what they may say that could give you an idea of where to go next on your story, or how to make that final ending to your poem. Hope this thread helps you smile

Some random topics to write about...

Something small
An appliance
A warm fire burning in a hearth
My sitcom life
An argument at a restaurant
Something less than remarkable

Some writers block solutions

Walk the dog, do some laundry, take a shower, talk to someone, read a good book, observe people and things...

one that really works, go outside with paper and pen and stay out there for at least 15 minutes. sit down somewhere and listen to all the sounds. Write down whatever you hear, the things you see, what you smell, how you feel in that specific moment. Do this during any and every season because there will be new sights, sounds smells, and feelings. observe EVERYTHING around you. When you look back at it on a later day, you may get ideas for poems, stories, anything.

So I'd like 2 consider myself a writer ... even though i havent written anything in a long time. I came up with this brilliant idea about a fictional land being ravaged by war because of a powerful witch. The only reason she attacked the country was because she wanted the death of the main character ... i don't know what to name him though sweatdrop ... anyway she wants him dead ... no one knows exactly y she is attacking until the final battle where the countries band together and make a final push into her dominion which is within the caves of some hellish mountains ... of course before they can breach her gates they are confronted on a beautiful beach and most of the army is destroyed ... they make their way into her mountain lair and the final confrontation begins. i know i didn't really give a good summary ... it prolly doesn't really sound interesting but i really like the way it came out. Anyway i thought about this and i came up with a prequel and also at least one or two sequels ... of course if haven't finished writing the first one cuz im horrible @ staying on track sweatdrop im trying to make these into novels and hopefully i will get published if i can ever finish these :3

I also came up with another idea for a novel or a short story depending on if i can make it long enough ... its about a boy ... it is hopefully going 2 be written in first person so it will be diary-like... he is depressed and one day he has a bad feeling about going to his classes @ his college. It takes place on Halloween so of course the campus is allowing the students 2 play Humans vs. Zombies ... the main character is spooked out nothing happens until he decides to go home ... all hell breaks loose and yeah sorry if it is over used but its a "zombie apocalypse" scenario with a twist ... i'm not saying that it hasn't been done before but i have not seen a decent book or movie other than the Walking Dead to an extent that has captured how truly depressing it is to lose loved ones ... in other words since the story is gonna b written in first person it will make it seem as if the reader is actually a part of the story ... the reader will hopefully identify with the main character and feel what he is feeling. This will not b an over the top action zombie story or a comedic zombie story ... it will b more tragic and real with less emphasis on guns explosions and over the top rescues but with more emphasis on emotion and relationships and how easily it is to lose someone close to you

Your story ideas sound amazing. Your best bet is to jot down all your story ideas, lay them all out, and pick the one you like the best. Set all the others to the side and just work on the one you picked. This will help you stay on one frame of mind and keep you from mixing up your story lines. If you seem to be stuck on the story, take a break from it, don't get mad. You can also read it right before bed and often times what will happen is you will have a dream about your story. It's a good way to get new ideas. Just make sure you wake up slowly the next morning and let the dream echo in your mind so that you don't forget anything. Also keep a pen and paper next to the bed so you can write it down as soon as possible. Just some little tips that have helped me in the past. smile
