So yesterday I finally watched Shutter Island and was very impressed.
Leonardo DiCaprio and the rest of the cast did an amazing job with the acting; the story was excellent, and some of the dream scenes were very beautiful. I say it was one of my "Favorite 2010 Films", and I'd have to give it 4/5 stars.
So what were your thoughts?

It was predictable, but that's not always a bad thing. The imagery and atmosphere were great. I liked it quite a bit.

The movie wasn't bad, but I think it got too much hype, which was why I was a little let down by it. I kept hearing that there was a huge twist and whatnot, so when I figured it out at the beginning, it wasn't as interesting. Maybe if I hadn't heard anything about it beforehand, I would have enjoyed it a bit more, even with it being predictable.

Yeah, the ending wasn't much of a mind ********, but I admit, I was still a little bit surprised.
I didn't really talk to anyone about the movie so nothing was ruined for me. blaugh

I liked it, but I agree that it was kind of predictable. Though I loved the acting, the atmosphere, and some of the imagery put into it. It was nice.

I liked it! It was actually very suspenseful, and all the more so because most times you could see what was coming and yet Leo did it anyway. But I really did not expect the lighthouse to be empty, nor did I expect the ending. Not to mention the music! The scene that focused on the dimly lit ceiling while this...I don't know how to describe it but the music right then made that scene the most suspenseful for me, even though it was "safe" (nothing happened after it at all). The composer did a good job.
In any case I think the ending itself (as was shown) was not as important as the audience's reaction. I think it was one of those movies that was /meant/ to leave you questioning and thinking and doubting rather than just watching the film and then forgetting about it. I've only watched it once so far, and maybe after watching again a few times I may change my mind, but I do believe that they ******** with him (probably using those "meds" they were giving him). I'm still iffy about how much of his past was real and how much they just implanted in his head, but I do think a conspiracy was at work. His "partner" acted like a cop. I don't know if it was merely bad acting or intentional, but he seemed too braindead to actually be a doctor... I give it an 8/10 for being enjoyable, having good music, and being good thinking material.
