((Might as well start another thread up, feel free to join))

Scarlet walked briskly down the alley, mentally navigating the old cobblestone road in her work heels. Most of the time she didn't need to concentrate on such a menial task, but with the new layer of ice from the latest snow storm she didn't want to risk having to painfully mend any broken bones.

Having just got off from a rather monotonous day of work at the ministry, she headed to her favorite pub to relax and enjoy the music and spirits. The Leaky Cauldron always had such a welcoming atmosphere in the evenings and she quickly found herself a comfy stool at a high table.

Thorfinn Rowle

PostPosted: Sat Dec 25, 2010 12:48 am

Rowle stood in the middle of the juncture of Knockturn Alley and Diagon Alley, he had a hood up to hide his face from the general populace that came to shop here. He wondered where he wanted to go. He wasn't used to coming here without a specific purpose and ambling about wasn't in his nature. After a few minutes he decided to grab a pint at the Leaky Cauldron. Rowle enjoyed the sound of crunching ice beneath his feet, it reminded him of his home village in Norway.

Upon entering the Leaky Cauldron, Rowle glanced around to see if he recognized anyone. He saw two Ministry officials. He didn't know their names, but he remembered seeing them together with Yaxley before. Scanning the room, Rowle's attention stopped on a raven-haired beauty. He smiled and made his way over to her table and sat down opposite her. "'Ello, luv." He said with a wide grin. "Don' mind if I sit down, do ya?" He asked as he lifted his head to look at the woman, letting the hood fall back enough for her to recognize him. "Wha's a pretty thin' like ya, drinkin' alone fer?"

Scarlet initially wasn't pleased to have a random stranger sit immediately next to her but smiled warmly as soon as Rowle lowered his hood. " Its nice to see you Rowle and of course you can sit with me. " She signaled the bar keeper for Rowle expecting that he was probably interested in some kind of alcoholic beverage.

" Well, work had been a bit rough lately and after solving several dilemmas this week I felt I owed myself a glass or pint. Actually, its truly more of a end of the week routine. I'm glad to have such intriguing company today though, "she grinned and took a large sip from her glass.

"What have you been up to Thorfinn? Anything fun lately? " She quirked an eyebrow mentally guessing what he would consider fun. " I'm surprised you came into this bar. Are you still a wanted man at all? " She whispered leaning towards him so that no others would hear.

"Mus' be a pain t'work at th'ministry." He said lowly as he looked over the woman across from him. "I ain' been up t'much, luv. Gotta get out t'stretch m'legs once in a while." He glanced around the barroom and then smiled, "I ain' afraid t'be seen out 'ere. There's no one 'ere tha' could beat me." He spoke confidently, sure of his own skills.

The bartender walked up and set down a pint of ale in front of Rowle and Rowle grabbed the man's arm. "Three more o' these, barkeep." He said pointing to his pint before letting go of the man. He turned back to Scarlet, "So, wha' kind o' thin's do y'do fer fun, luv?" He asked, taking a giant gulp of his ale.

She took a long drink from her glass finishing the last bit. "You know of all the jobs and departments I could be in, I think mine has the potential to be the most interesting. I mean, I get to work with time turners. Imagine all the fun things you could do with one of those? " she grinned mischievously.

"Really, no one in here could beat you? " she asked looking at him and the other people in the bar as if to validate the statement. " I must say it would be truly interesting and entertaining to see you fight then. Personally, I wouldn't call myself a very good dueler, more of an excellent dodger." She smirked at her statement about herself. " If you ever offer lessons, I might have to take you up on that deal if you're really as good as you say you are," looking at him with serious eyes but a flirtatious smile.

"Well for fun, I go out to pubs much like this occasionally and on an even rarer chance I go dancing with friends. Or on even rarer occasion I'll go with my family to London to "play with muggles. " She had to choose her wording carefully since she did have some people she knew not too far from her table.

"I wasn' aware tha' time-turners were all tha' fun t'work wi'." Rowle said with a smile before draining his pint and nodding, "Tha's righ', th'list o' people tha' can beat me is a short one. If y'wan' lessons, I'm yer man. I'll give ya pers'nal lessons whenever y'want 'em." He grinned widely.

"Yer a muggle 'unter?" He asked quietly so no one else but Scarlet would here him. "I don' see wha's so fun wi' 'untin' muggles. It's not like they figh' back, y'know." He then grinned, "Huntin' thin's tha' figh' back is th'only way t'get th'adrenaline pumpin'. Mudbloods're fun t'kill. An' Macnair knows where t'find all th'dangerous beasts t' 'unt." He chuckled at the memories of hunting mudbloods and beasts, "Come wi' me sometime an' I'll show ya a real good time, luv."

Scarlet listened to him intrigued . She turned and ordered another glass of wine from the bartender. Usually, she didn't drink an excessive amount to keep her wits sharp and she figured one more glass couldn't hurt for the evening. "Do you need another pint while I have the bartenders attention?" she asked Rowle.

" So then, who can beat you? " she asked full of curiosity. "I would like those lessons, just tell me when and where, although it would have to be after I got off work from the ministry...although, " she said thinking aloud, " I could easily borrow a time turner and really do the lessons at any time. Also, should I bring compensation for your time and efforts? " Mentally she calculated how much she would think fair and hoped his estimate would be similar.

" Mudblood hunting? " she asked with hushed tones. " I think I would prefer to start with beasts and then maybe graduate to the other, "she smirked. " I would like to join you for one or the other sometime. " She took another drink from her glass, beginning to feel slightly mullered.

As she spoke, the bartender brought Rowle his three previously ordered pints. "No, luv. I think I'm set fer drinks." He said with a grin. After draining one pint, Rowle held up one hand and listed names, "The Dark Lord. Rodolphus Lestrange. Dumbledore. Filius Flitwick. Bellatrix Lestrange." He fell silent for a moment and then held up his last finger, "And Augustus Rookwood." He took a drink and then added, "I wouldn' wan' t'meet any o' them in a duel. An' tha' Shacklebolt Auror. 'E can probably give me an 'ard time." He chuckled lightly. "Do any o' those names surprise ya?"

He took another drink from his second pint and then said, "Time turners're useless. Jus' give me a shou' when y'wan' t'learn. I'll meet ya whenever an' wherever." After finishing his second pint and starting on his third Rowle grinned, "If y'wan' t' 'unt beasts, y'got t'talk t'Macnair. 'E's th'exper' on 'untin' creatures o' a magical nature."

Scarlet looked at him a bit perplexed. "Flitwick? Do you mean the little Professor at Hogwarts?" she asked incredulously. " And Rookwood? I guess I never really saw him as a fighter, more of a thinker. But then I've never actually seen any of the death eaters in a true battle. There hasn't been much going on lately of that nature as far as I know," she drank from her glass staring blankly into space deep in thought for a moment before snapping herself out of it. "I'm not too surprised about my parents. I know they can both be quite fierce when they want to be. I just don't want to let them down if I was ever in such a situation. I mean, they don't really teach fighting in school," she said smirking. "Sure, you learn the spells, master them if you have the skill and are smart, but aside from that you don't really get hand on hand combat practice aside form a few disputes between peers here and there, " she commented while tucking a loose piece of hair behind her ear.

She took another drink from her glass and watched stunned as he quickly finished his second pint. " Bloody hell, are you part fish?" she asked in a joking tone while laughing." If I ever tried to keep up with you in drinks, I would be sloshed on the ground."

Scarlet finished he wine and pushed the glass aside. "I don't know if I'd feel comfortable asking to go along with Macnair. I don't think I made the best first impression on him." She thought about her first meeting with him and how it had not gone exactly how she hoped. She felt like she'd be the last person he would want to accompany him on any kind of hunt.

Rowle smirked, "Flitwick was a champion duelist. Second only t' th'Master an' Dumbledore. An' Rookwood, well....Don't get on 'is bad side. Ol' Rookwood spen' a long time creatin' new curses an' spells fer th'Master." He took a gulp from his pint, "There's even a rumor tha' 'e cracked th'secrets o' some arch or somethin' in 'is ol'department in th'Ministry. Bu' I don' know if tha's true or not. It was jus' a rumor."

After finishing his final pint, Rowle gestured for one more from the bartender. "Wha' d'ya mean, ya made a bad firs' impression on Macnair? Wha' 'appened?" He asked curiously.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 30, 2010 7:09 pm

" Huh, I never realized that about Flitwick. How intriguing, " she said sarcastic smile. "I'll have to see if I can talk any spells out of Rookwood, I actually have to visit him later for a few work questions anyway."

Scarlet looked a little sheepish, "Well, when I first introduced myself to him I mentioned who my parents were and he gave me a hard time about it. I think he thought I was trying to drop names to make myself seem more important." She looked at Rowle in the eyes, "I wouldn't have a motive as ridiculous as that. Its more the fact that I was meeting a new death eater for the first time and didn't want to be at wand point again due to a misunderstanding."

She leaned back in her chair and began absentmindedly playing with the rim of her wine glass. "I'm so glad you joined me tonight Rowle. I hope it hasn't been too dull of an evening for you so far, compared to your usual nightly entertainment, " she said smiling mischievously. "Do you have any other plans for the evening?"

"Rookwoo' won' give y'any spells." He said flatly. "'E guard's 'em like a dragon guardin' gold."

Rowle burst out in laughter, his hand slapping the scrubbed wooden table. "I see yer problem, luv. Y'see, Macnair doesn' like yer paren's. When th'Master sprang 'em out o' Azkaban, Bella wen' off rantin' on all o' us tha' 'voided bein' captured. Macnair took th'brun' o' it 'cause 'e's so big tha' Bella singled 'im out." He wiped tears out of his eyes, "An' Macnair wouldn' pu' ya at wan' point. 'E's always said tha' 'e on'y kills wha' 'e's tol' t'kill. A'mit it, y'were jus' afrai' o' 'im 'cause 'e's a big bloke, righ'?" He grinned widely at Scarlet. "Well, I ain' go' no plans tha' I can' change. I'm suppose' t'mee' Macnair at Borgin an' Burkes a bi' later. Bu' 'e shoul' understan' if I miss our meetin' when 'e 'ears I'm wi' ya, luv." He grinned wider and gave her a wink.

"Oh but Thorfinn, I can be very convincing when I want to be. Do not underestimate me," she said smiling coyly at him. "I think I could find out at least about one spell...the challenge would be fun," she laughed.

"Ah, that would make sense as to why he was so annoyed to hear their names. My mother can be a shrew sometimes to say the least, especially when she's on a tyraid," she commented with her expression shifting to an frustrated look when discussing Bellatrix. "Macnair is quite um...tall isn't he?" she said smiling while trying to put it in a polite way. "I wasn't afraid of his size, more intimidated a little. That and the fact that he's always carrying that gigantic axe."

"If it comes time for you to go meet him, you could always invite him to join us, "she suggested. "That way I wouldn't be pulling you away from your previous engagement, and I'm sure Macnair could go for a pint," she grinned but then paused and acted like she was deep in thought. "Unless this informal bar meeting has morphed into a date of some kind," she said smiling playfully, "cause then it might be a bit awkward."

Rowle cocked his head to the side, "Ythink y'can convince Rookwood?" He asked, "I dunno, from wha' I 'ear, 'e doesn' give thin's up easily." He nodded his head, draining his final pint. "Tha's righ'. 'E's a tall bloke. Too tall, if y'ask me." He laughed, "I get a crick in m'neck ev'rytime I got t'look up at 'im." Grinning, he added, "'Is axe? Did 'e try t'intimidate ya by sharpenin' it in front o' ya?"

Rowle waved his hand in the air nonchalantly, "If I don' show up, 'e'll come lookin' fer me." His grin widened, "Nah, this ain' a date. If it was, we wouldn' jus' be sittin' 'ere. We'd be doin' somethin' a li'l more fun."
