Scarlet came home from work a bit earlier than usual and walked straight towards her father's study. Seeing he wasn't in there, she headed to the wine cellar downstairs, grabbed a bottle of pinot noir and sat in her favorite chair by the fireplace with a fresh glass.

She had alot to think about from the previous night with the "accident" and then the whole mess of getting it cleaned up afterward. Not to mention her anxious state of being through her entire day of work. Waiting for something to possibly happen and praying that something wouldn't.

Scarlet smiled warmly towards her father, enjoying the combined aroma of the cigar smoke and the fireplace.

"I did get off early today and thankfully its not because I lost my job. The department took off early in honor of Croaker's death. Rookwood took charge of the clean-up since apparently he doesn't have the highest opinion of Yaxley's work. Overall, I don't care who did what to fix it at this point. I'm just glad that its taken care of. The only unfortunate thing is that I am now indebted to two people which is annoying. "

She leaned back and closed her eyes. " How was your day?" she asked nonchalantly.

She opened her eyes and looked into her fathers as he spoke. " Thats good to know and I do feel a bit more relieved. Its funny, I would have pinned Rookwood as a man who uses the debts that people owe him to his benefit, " she paused thinking aloud as she spoke, " but I suppose I can see how he would technically have more power over people because instead of doing things out of debt they would be more willing to do favors of their own accord."

She took a drink from her glass, " Care for some Pinot?"

" Have you seen mother lately? I tried to get into contact with her but she seems to have disappeared. "

Rabastan opened the door to the front of the manor house slowly and peered in. It was nearly Christmas and he was working on becoming stealthy so he could lay his trap for Father Christmas. Entering, he closed the door behind him as quietly as he could.
From his left side came a squeaky voice, "Master Rabastan? Why is you sneaking into your own home?"
Rabastan jumped slightly, caught off guard by the family's house elf, Jinxy. "Shh!" He said bringing his finger to his lips. "I'm practicing, you stupid elf!" He said in a hushed tone, "Go find Roddy and give him a spot of tea or something." Moving forward, Rabastan peered up the main stairs. Roddy is probably in his study smoking a cigar or in the library reading. But then a thought occurred to him, Scarlet had moved in recently. I don't know what her routine is yet. I should really come home more often.
Walking quietly to the top of the stairs, Rabastan paused to listen. Their were voices coming from the sitting room. He moved quietly to the door and peeked in. The back of the chairs were facing the door. Rabastan fought an urge to hex his brother and niece. He usually quarreled with the urge to curse people and things. Many people considered Rabastan a bit unhinged. Instead he stood up and entered the room, "Why are you sitting in the sitting room?" The question seemed reasonable, for his entire life, he couldn't ever remember people sitting in the sitting room.

Rodolphus shook his head, smiling and then laughed at Scarlet's answer to Rabastan's question. "Actually, he does have a point, Scarlet. This may be a sitting room, but I don't think it's ever been used as such." Just then, the house elf Jinxy walked in with a tea tray and placed it on the table next to his chair. "What are you doing, elf? I didn't ask for tea."
The elf stopped and looked around the room, "Master Rabastan told me to bring you tea. I is only doing what I is told."
Rodolphus looked up at Rabastan, puzzled and then said, "I'm not in the mood for tea. Take it away."
"Yes, Master." The elf said as he turned and walked out of the room with the tray.
"Why would you tell the elf to bring me tea?" He asked.

Scarlet rarely laughed so hard that she cried, but after hearing her uncles plans she couldn't help herself. She doubled over in her chair struggling to breath. " Good god, that..is..brilliant! How ...how in the world...did you ever come up with that? "she struggled to get out her sentence in between laughing fits.

After calming down a bit but still having a huge grin on her face she attempted to continue the conversation. " Well work has been interesting to say the least. A little bit rough but its fine now. What have you been up to dear uncle, besides hatching your master Christmas plan? "

Rabastan was about to answer Scarlet's question but then turned to Roddy and said vehemently, "Shut up! He's just lucky. But this year, I'll have Greyback sniff him out and we'll definitely catch him." He stared hard at Roddy, internally, the usual argument between cursing and not cursing was raging. Rabastan shut his eyes and shook his head. He looked back to Scarlet and grinned, "I've been doing lots of things." He said happily, "I've gone on a few muggle hunts with Macnair and Rowle took me to a really seedy pub recently. It was lots of fun."
