I just recently read that Kodansha would make a US devision, but never imagined they would take over a lot of Del Rey's titles(even the onces they recently released).

Del Ray was to be shut down by december 2010.
It's the second compagny (as far as I know) in 2 years time to shut down. The other one which recently shut down was CMX(titles as "Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne and "Venus in Love").

And a few years back ADV also closed it's doors.

How come this is going in speed of light these years. Is it the crisis they had in America the last couple of years that I heard about?

It really makes me sad that another compagny is to close it's doors and dissappoint their dearest readers.

They're going to only continue the clamp series they own. Other ones like "I am here" will be released by the US Kodansha department.

Unkown is what will happen with their finished series and unfinished ones that they didn't mention.

This is the 3rd time that my favorite licensing company has shut down. This news is terrible. I really hope Kodansha can keep about the same quality as DelRey's. If more companies shut down, I may have to really get series about studying Japanese. Cuz right now, the only major companies we really have left are VIZ, Yen Press, Kodansha, and TP.

They will Release Negima in Omnibus version with a new translation I read. They also intend to release the last Negima volumes.

They also got a few new titles in their mind that haven't been released yet, like Bloody Monday.

I mostly read VIZ, Tokyopop(German of US versions), Yen Press, Kana and Glénat NL(not France).

It worries me a little too... I know that Kodansha is basically taking Del Rey's place, but their past releases (the telephone book sized Akira manga come to mind) worry me a little. Plus, one of the new series I really like (Code:breaker) is officially in limbo crying . On the plus side however, they have announced the rest of the Del Rey series I read, plus a new Phoenix Wright manga.

Maybe they'll release it later, they're just getting started yet next year to see if there is interessts in their products.

If they become sucessfull, imagine other japanese compagnies like Shueisha also making an US devision.

Or even getting magazines like Ribon and such to have an English version as well. Wouldn't that be great?

They also got Monster Hunter. Which is completely awesome.

Yeah, I heard that they were taking over most of DelRey's titles (Shugo Chara, Negima, etc). Which is good. I just hope Kodansha's quality will at least be close to DelRey's.

I think they intend to, since they're taking over all their translation works as well.
