I came to understand this after watching Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance. Don't ask me how I saw it, since its not yet released in the U.S. just appreciate my words of wisdom.
I've tried several times now to be brief. I will try again...
I think that humans are fearful creatures. It is in human nature to be afraid, because survival is human nature. We selfishly want to live, but merely living is not enough for a human being to survive. Eventually we find people and things that we cherish and these become the things that we live for. These are the things we desire, the things we want more than anything else and are willing to fight and die for. However, the willingness to fight is not enough when it is merely the willingness to die. We, as humans, know that if we do not change it ourselves, nothing will change, and if we run away, nothing ever will. This is the meaning of 'to live for' which is not 'to die for,' because death is the end, but the truly fearless are the ones who so selfishly pursue their greatest desires that they are unwilling to die for them. We have to face our fears, take action, and accept full responsibility for the consequences of those actions. In other words, we have to become the one responsible, the one to change everything. The true meaning of 'to live for' is 'to live for oneself.' It means that you can't run away and you can't win by fighting to protect something else other than your own personal, selfish desires. You have to want something badly enough that you're unwilling to die for it, that you must live to see it realized. It is this selfish desire which overcomes fear, and why you always hear manly anime characters shouting "I don't care! Even if the whole world is destroyed! I'm not doing it for anyone else...I'm doing it for me!!!" =w=

well said kisuke,, verry well said, i agree 100%, in the end, it is Greed that drives us forward, muhahahahahaha xD, (not exactly Greed, as in the sense u want everything, but more of youl do anything and everything to get what you want) razz

I understood what you said without your explanation Greed xD Greed as in human desire not the specific sin of greed....
There was another thing I wanted to post here...something profound, but I kind of forgot what it was...I'll put it up when I remember it.
