[1/17/11] ;early morning; first tea review. I tried Earl Grey for the first time.

[1/18/11] ;early morning; second review. This time I made my usual cup of peppermint tea.

[1/18/11] ;early morning; I'd like to use both of my reviews [Earl Grey and peppermint] to upgrade my basic teapot to a Artisan Yixing.
I would also like to place my point in the following:
    • Four into Ability
    • One into Tea
    • One into Teaware

[1/18/11] ;afternoon; I found my tea gone when I returned to check on it. In its place was this adorable little creature sitting in the bottom of the cup.
I would also like to allocate my unassigned points in the following:
    • One into Tea
    • One into Teaware

A Rural Home by Mei Yaochen

The c**k crows three times; the sky is almost light.
Someone's lined up bowls of rice, along with flasks of tea.
Anxiously, the peasants rush to start the ploughing early,
I pull aside the willow shutter and gaze at the morning stars.

User ImageUser Image 1995 Menghai Green Puer Tea Cake: This high quality, green cake from the
Xishaunbanna Menghai factory comes from old and ancient tea trees.
It has a great aroma which lingers in your mouth.
A product of dry storage, this amber colored tea is aged slowly and naturally.

Teaware: Artisan Yixing (lvl 3) - A masterfully crafted teapot made out of yixing clay.
Yixing clay will begin to absorb the flavor and aroma of any tea that is brewed inside.
Therefore, this teapot can only be used exclusively to brew one type of tea.
A Yixing teapot is perfect for large leafed chinese teas and can elevate your tea to the
next level with the help of the "seasoned" clay. User Image

Name of Tea: Earl Gray, distributed by Bigelow
Initial appearance: Appears as crushed leaves [very fine] in an individual bag.
Prep work: I heated my iron kettle up slightly before adding filtered water into it, letting it heat on an electric stove for around five minutes on a medium-high setting until it just started to whistle. Put the tea bag into my favorite mug, added the water giving about an inch. Let it sit for seven minutes.
Aroma: Earthy I suppose would be one way to describe it. It had a light citrus-like smell to it. Reminded me of an old soap I used to use.
Flavor: Hm, warm and earthy. Kinda like drinking a root. I can definitely taste a little citrus in it.
Overall rating: This was my first time ever trying Earl Grey and I'd give it a 3/5. It was far too bitter for my tastes, but then again I enjoy my tea sweetened.

Name of Tea: Peppermint tea, grown by myself.
Initial appearance: Appears loose leaf, placed at the bottom of my favorite mug with about half a spoonful of sugar sprinkled on top of it. I do not remove the leaves. I used five leaves.
Prep work: Similarly to how I brewed my Earl Gray. I did not pre-heat the kettle, but I did remove it from heat just as it was beginning to whistle from the steam.
    Aroma: Fresh, strong mint smell.
Flavor: Refreshing, soothing and definitely a treat for my mouth. While the mint flavor is there it is not so powerful that it feels like drinking mouthwash.
Overall rating: Definitely 5/5. This is my usual tea and I've grown quite fond it due to having a good supply of mint growing in my backyard.
