Though she wouldn't admit it, Tre had actually forgotten about her promise to meet the young man from the planetarium. It wasn't until she had gotten home and was taking off her uniform vest when she felt the pamphlet in her pocket. She looked at it, and immediately felt terrible that it had slipped her mind. She should have been flustered and twiterpated all DAY! ... Right? Well, perhaps the butterflies in her stomach now would make up for it.
"Mroooooow?" Trecia's room mate and pet cat, Boxcar, rubbed against her leg.
"Oh Boxy! I have a date tonight!" She picked up the white feline and spun him around once before hugging him. Boxcar didn't like the spin and scrambled away when she hugged him. She giggled giddily as she dropped her uniform pieces on the way to the shower.
Casual. Casual... She didn't want to look TOO casual. Tank tops were out. But how formal should she go? A blouse? A dress? She ruffled the towel through her hair again as she looked through her wardrobe. She finally decided a Tshirt and skinny jeans were casual enough. When she arrived at the arcade, she was in a white Tshirt with a black graphic of a fist, a red sweater casually tossed over her shoulders, and dark blue jeans hugging her hips. She wore black slip-on sneakers since they were easy to grab as she made a mad dash out the door. A final check in her mirror, making sure her lip gloss wasn't sloppy, wasn't too pink. Her eyeshadow was light enough to not be noticed, but still catch the light. Yes, she was ready for a date.
Now all she had to do was find her date.

Simon had slept for most of the time he waited for their date. He made sure to comb his hair, put on some clean clothes, spray a bit of cologne where it counted. Spruced up and smelling fresh and clean, he exited his house for the short drive to the arcade.
He leaned against the wall in faded jeans ripped in various places. His dark blue shirt, with a single spaceship for those oh so popular games that glowed in the arcade's lights, seemed fitting for the occasion. He hadn't been there long when his "date" arrived. It took him a second to notice her, having been engrossed in another kid's game that he was obviously loosing.
He walked over to her calmly, with a smirk on his face. "Well hello there. Glad to see you made it." He was glad she hadn't forgotten. Nothing like having a date skip out on you. "Are you ready for a night of fun?" He waved his hand to all the games around with a laugh.

When he greeted her, she was about to ask if he'd been waiting long, but he distracted her with a gesture to the games. "Ah, yeah! But I warn you, I haven't touched a video game since I moved out here." Of course, having 5 brothers back home, she had her fair share of game time. But none of them were arcade games like this.
"Can we start with something easy?" Tre asked, pointing to an air hockey table. She tried to discreetly check out Simon while they walked. Maybe she had over dressed. Ripped jeans? Hm... No, no. She was casual. And she was comfortable.

"It'll be fine." He smirked once again, "I'll go easy on you." He was sure going to be sour if he ended up loosing. He walked with her to the air hockey table. That was what she deemed easy? This wasn't a game to be messed with. It was serious business, or that's what most of his friends thought.
He put in the require dollar in quarters to play, sliding the mallet and puck to her. "My lady," he bowed slightly "You may have first go." He probably looked like such a dope, but it was all to impress this hot thing in front of him.

Trecia couldn't help the snort of laughter that tried to escape. When he bowed, his hair wiggled in the breeze from the table. But then it was game time. As promised, Simon started out easy. Trecia was getting the hang of it and got the first point. But then she lost the next two. Oh, it was on. She began trying harder, concentrating on the game. A point to her! The last round. The final point. she had her game face on- which meant her tongue was peeking out of her lips as she focused, her blue eyes narrowing as she concentrated on the game.
They had a great volley gong back and forth for a while. Neither one of them were scoring the sacred final point. Tre put all her force behind this next hit. She would win for sure!
Or... the puck would bounce off the table and slide under a racing game.
Which it did.

The game was just getting good too! He watched as the puck bounced under the racing game, a frown on his face. He paused a moment. "I'll be right back." He walked over, all the while thinking how cute Tre had looked when she was concentrating. That's the only reason she got those points- because he was distracted. At least that's what he told himself.
He bent down and peered under the machine. Dust bunnies ran from his worked up breaths. There was candy, something sticky, oh! And there was the puck, just out of reach. He stood up, dusting himself off. "I guess I win this round." He chuckled, "Anything you would like to do next?" He brushed the dust bunnies from his knees as he looked her over.

She blushed when he actually went and looked for the puck. She set the mallet down and half jogged over to him. Mostly, she was leaving the scene of the crime. "Ah, I don't know. What game do you want to do?" She was afraid she'd pick lame, boring games and he'd not be interested. It wasn't like she was going to play that girly pony racing game. Puh-leeze.
She hadn't realized that she'd taken his arm and started walking. She just wanted to be away from the game where the puck was now lost. "Maybe something without projectiles..."

Simon took immediate notice to Tre taking his arm. It was quite a shock. "Oh so that means you want to play basketball?" he chuckled, leading her over to a less crowded area, if that was even possible. "How about this?" He patted the game's rail. It was worn for so many people stomping on its arrow pads. "I've seen kids here doing competitions..." He turned his head away to look at the screen. "But I'm horrible at this game." Not horrible, more... Dance challenged.

The basketball comment warranted him a warning glare, but that faded and Tre's eyes lit up when they reached the dancing game. "OH! We have this back home!" She grinned "I'll go easy on you, ok?" She chuckled, slipping her arm from his. She debated on if she should pay for the game.
Yes, yes she should. Wait, she didn't have quarters. She had to step to the change machine but insisted she pay for at least SOME of the games. This was, after all, a casual date. He cold take her out proper next time.
Next time? Whoa, getting ahead of herself there.
"I'll let you pick the song."

Ah... He missed his chance to pay. Maybe if he hadn't been contemplating on how to do decent at this game then he would have slipped the quarters in. He smiled, "I guess it is your turn to take it easy on me." He liked Tre's spunk! Just more of a reason to hang out with her. No, date her. That was the way to go.
"Let's see..." The game started up and it blasted a melody in the background as they selected their settings. Beginner always felt too slow... So he went on a limb and picked intermediate. Now for a song. He must have gone through the play list a dozen times when he realized that the timer was running low. "Uh... This one!" It was a fast song. Great... He sighed, readying himself.

Tre set herself for hard mode If nothing else, making it more difficult for herself would give him a chance to do better, right? Of course the song he picked would have to be a fast one. Tre held back a groan as it started. The colorful arrows were scrolling up her screen near twice as fast as they were up Simon's, but she was good enough to hit most of them. She had a good chain going before she flubbed, then flubbed again, got her groove back, and flubbed at the end. But now she was breathing hard. Though fast, that song was long.

Simon was failing, and fast. The arrows were scrolling by too fast, but not as fast as Tre's arrows. How was she doing anyway? He glanced over discreetly at her dancing form. She was doing extremely well, and looking mighty fine while she did it. Now what was he doing? Oh right, the game.
"Ah... You're too good for me!" Too hot to handle. He was working up a sweat. And finally, he was out. Just before the game ended. He crossed his arms. "Let's give this one more go." He put in the quarters this time.
He placed a hand on his chin, picking a decent song. "How about we get dangerous?" He smirked, "We'll switch pads at the good part, what do you say?"

Trecia brushed some hair from her face when the song had ended. She was breathing hard and ever so delicately wiped her brow with the back of her hand. "Oh?" she placed her hand on her hip. "Switch pads, hm? Then we should totally set it for the same difficulty. How about we do insanity mode?" She figured it was a hard enough mode they would both be flailing like fish on the dance floor.
She watched as he picked the song. One of the hardest, catchiest songs possible. "Feeling daring? Or are you just trying to impress me?"

Simon panted, leaning a hand on the machine, "Maybe a little of both." He winked, catching his breath and stood ready for action. His lips parted as if he were going to speak, but the song had started to play its fast-paced tune. Simon's muscle tensed as he glanced over to Tre. Her form was poised and ready for the intense show they were about to put on for the people who just so happened to be watching.
The beat was pulsing through the speakers, a few kids had gathered to watch as Simon pounded on the arrowed pads. Tre was a bit more graceful. Now was as good as time as any to put his move into play. "Ok Tre, this is a good part." He paused for a moment, "Now!" He turned away from the screen to face her as they brushed by each other, smirking.
But that was his downfall. His foot caught on the ridge of the machine, sending him tumbling off into an arcade racer. He laid there, head against the side of the game as people began to giggle and laugh. "Ugh..." He stared there more out of embarrassment than anything. His face was flush with bright red, dulled by the arcade's lighting. That had obviously not been a good idea.

Trecia couldn't help but smile at the answer. Well, time to see how good he was at impressing her. As the next round started, he didn't need to tell her when it was the good part. She already knew. She slid past him as they swapped machines, her back to him though she cast him a sly look over her shoulder. She didn't realize he'd tripped until people started laughing.
The game didn't matter now. She looked to where Simon had landed and hopped off the dance pad and pushed past a couple of kids to kneel beside him. "Are you ok?" she asked, gently running her fingers through his hair. She wanted to make sure he wasn't bleeding or hurt before she laughed at him. It was a pretty epic tumble. "Maybe we should grab a soda." She offered.
