So what are your thoughts on Legacy?

I'm honestly really mixed on this one. As an action/blockbuster movie fan I loved it! The plot was pretty solid, the action was great, visuals were awesome, characters were fun, acting was decent and the music was beast! Only problems were the explanations went by fast so if you missed something you were pretty lost until you figured it out for yourself. (Tron the betrayal and Tron Evolution [I believe as I haven't played it yet] explain most of the stuff more in detail so I'm pretty satisfied)

As a Tron fan however I didn't like it that much. The story fits in with the first movie. I can see Flynn seeing potential in the grid when it comes to video games, science, religion, everything! and make his own grid. So I don't have a huge problem with that. Though I wished Cindy Morgan was in it (could have made Lora be with Alan to take care of Sam!) that wasn't my main issue. My main issue was the world of Tron in this one aka the Grid.

The never really show how the programs literally do their work. For example an E-Mail Script would literally deliver the message in the Grid. Only examples were Clu and the Sirens. In the original they showed that when you play lightcycles that the little dots were programs literally playing lightcycles on bikes.

I like the new costumes and other designs look but this takes place in a 1989 computer so it really doesn't make sense. Honestly they could have the same or similar story in an updated computer and they should have! Especially to show how the programs in the Tron world have evolved over the years!

Obviously another problem I had with the movie was the lack of Tron as himself. sad But at least we got a good enough Alan biggrin

As a side thing I liked the Very Dudeish Kevin Flynn! XDDDD

Honestly to me this was a nice movie to watch but it had a lot of wasted potential. sad Hopefully the next movie will have these things. smile

I'm hoping for an upgraded MCP >w< made by Dillinger's son. biggrin

So share your thoughts please and you may respond to mines. 3nodding

End of Line, Man.

You said it, dude. I liked it, but there was an element of predictability, and everything else you said.

Other than that, it was great!

Plus it does sound like there's a sequel on the way.

One random thing I'd like:

A WIFI virtual reality game of TRON. They have the technology already in the military, why don't they use it for recreational use?

*End random note, lol*

As far as the Grid being different that the original, do keep in mind that the first was not Flynn's design. also, as far as asthetics, the original was built from the outside with no actual thought or anything as far as how things should "look" whereas this grid was built from the inside with Flynn litterally designing everything.. Also, technology wise, 1982 - 1989 is a huge jump in terms of technology, not to mention that Flynn was basicly the "Bill Gates" of his world, so he had access to stuff that was worlds away from what the public had access to...

Despite the quick recap and backstory, I think it was very well done. It brought people up to speed and explained things well, but also in a brief way that could catch people up without them having to have seen the first movie or wasting a lot of screen time and whatnot. Granted, it did completely disreguard all the Tron 2.0 story and such, and now all that is considered "non-canon" which is a shame considering how much went into it and it gave the hardcore fans their first new taste of Tron since the original..

Overall, I personally loved it. I only knew of Tron, but never paid much attention until now... I have now discovered a story/universe that was created back in 81 that people have actually caught up to today, and I find that absolutely fascinating!! I am now absorbing everything Tron and have become a big fan for life!!

I walked in with VERY low expectations and was VERY VERY satisfied by the end. the biggest thing for me was the subtlety of the tron 1982 references. for example: at the the very beginning when jeff bridges was explaining the grid it fades to city streets. in the original tron the computer elements also fade to city streets. and many other small things you catch when you have total add. also the music!!! LOVED IT! i don't know why but every time i listen to it i get this warm tingly feeling from my ears to the center of my brain!! its like music crack!! and thirdly the visual effects were stunning! also the characters!! as you said flyn was rather dudeish and clu was soo evil!! and i just wanted to squeeze all the evil i could from rinzler!!! and every time i think about it i think nooooo tron!!!!

anywho i loved this movie and want to watch it again and again and again!!

I heard that... There is now a reason for me to want to get a 3-D TV and blu-ray player, even tho I won't be able to afford one for many years, buy you can bet that if I do, that movie is going to be the first played, and shall be replayed many many more times after... Trying to see it in the theaters in 3D as many times as possible as I won't likely be able to do so ever again... Unless I was to own my own theatre some day... <.<; hmmmm....
