Things were picking up again in YMCA after a long dry spell of nothingness, where the most interesting thing that had happened for several months was that Tantalus had actually agreed with his mother on something. Not that it mattered very much: off went Merrill's girls to that uterus-power pack of bitches anyway. He didn't know much about the girls, but Tan knew for sure Arianna wouldn't be able to handle it, and Mavican . . . Mavican would probably forget she had ever been in YMCA, knowing that scatter-brained idiot.
And for a while after that, things had been quiet. Stirrings of love from the local couple, sure, but the adolescent had no interest in his aunt's love life of whoever she chose to be her mate. No interest until the day she gave birth in the midst of a storm, right when he and most of the pack were away on a hunt. Now he had five extra cousins and yet again more males.
Sure, he disliked the whole "women power" deal his mom always liked to exert. But after quite a bit of puppy dumps into their pack from the Amazons, YMCA's male population was starting to seriously outnumber the girls. And he could only take so much testosterone before his head imploded.
Rather than let it do so, Tantalus managed to excuse himself with Merrill, who was on border patrol, to take a walk and clear his head. And the more he thougth about it, the more his home started to feel crowded, with him pushed along on the fringes. He frowned as he continued onward, pushing a brilliantly red leaf to occupy his attention.
