STAB, or Same Type Attack Bonus, is a bonus that gets added to your Pokemon's damaging move if they are the same elemental type as that move. If a Bug Pokemon uses a Grass move, it doesn't get a STAB. However, if a Grass Pokemon uses a Grass move, it does get a STAB.
A STAB is basically an extra die that you get to roll after your damage roll. Add these two together to calculate the total damage dealt. The die that you roll for your STAB depends on your Pokemon's level and is illustrated in the post below.
