Roleplay Guidelines

Roleplaying Requirements

Keeping your pet is not hard. The truth is your pet probably isn't going to be rehomed unless it's a part of the metaplot - in which case if you have a part to play in the shop's setting. But if you buy a pet from the shop, be prepared to do at least the following:

1- Get your character approved and make a journal for them.
2- Complete one RP ~or~ solo of any length every three months. Mark the thread [FIN] when you're done.
3 - Keep your journal updated with your RPs whenever you finish one.

Yes, that is actually all.

About RPing in General

Before you start RPing make sure you've done the following things!

1. You've read all the guild's rules regarding RPing and character creation.
2. You've read all of the information regarding the setting and characters.
3. You've gotten a character profile approved by the RP management in the circulation subforum.
4. You've made a journal for your APPROVED character.

A well thought-out character is essential. Part of the reason there's a week of waiting before your book evolves into a Book Child is to make you slow down and think about who they're going to be. You start out with a limit of 3 characters, make them great!

Common Courtesy

Please keep your font readable. That means keep it fairly dark in color and of a reasonable size (10 ~ 12).
Please follow The Daisy Code. Read it, live it, love it!
This is not a fighting game with a battle system! This doesn't mean your character can't get into scuffles or dangerous situations or what have you. But there's no official battle system for this shop because the plot and setting don't revolve around it, therefore you will have to navigate your own way through altercations with other characters. Follow the Daisy Code and stay fair. As far as the metaplot goes the setting is fairly peaceful, and though there will be drama and danger it'll be more of a suspense/survival type.
Remember your character cannot be the center of attention all the time. Enjoy the spotlight when you have it but never forget you must let go and share it with others.
Similarly, please do your best to contribute to making roleplays flow nicely, as well as fun and easy to write. Consider what you can do to make a storyline fun for everyone. It's hard to RP with someone whose character refuses to do anything other than sit and stare at a wall because they are SUPER MYSTERIOUS and NOBODY UNDERSTANDS THEIR BURDEN.

RP title tags! A guide to RP types.

Please mark your threads with these tags to let others know what goes on in them!

(ORP) A thread you started that is open to anyone to join!
(PRP) You and a friend pre-planned this, nobody else can join in.
(AU) You wanted crack, or maybe to RP out some life-changing s**t without having to commit to it. These can be fun but they won't be canon (the shop won't acknowledge the events therein) and they won't count towards RP requirements for you or your partner.
(FIN) An RP that has been completed! Mark your completed threads with this for RP requirements.
(SOLO) Not an RP but something written by you alone for your character. If it's really short (under 400 words) use your journal.

Here's an example!

(PRP) The unfortunate first meeting of Mr. Herp and Miss Derp!

Style

Roleplay writing should be at a "literate" level - that is, you make your best effort to spellcheck and use proper grammar at all times. A good rule of thumb for RPing is to pretend you were writing a novel in past-tense third person format. Do not use asterisks *for character actions* or writing out things in script style.

Bad!

Melanie: *sees the dog running across the road and gasps* Roger, look out!!!!! *covers eyes*

Good!
Melanie gasped as the dog scampered into the car's path and screamed, "Roger, look out!" Unable to watch what she was sure would happen next, she covered her eyes with her hands.

the most thrilling RP ever ^

There's all kinds of wonderful and creative writing styles out in the world, but most RPers prefer past-tense third person and for the sake of consistency and easy reading we ask that you use that one.
