 Yak yak yak. Why did it seem that other Soqs never ever stopped talking. Lian hadn't been like that, but even she had her moments. He wondered, not for the first time where she was, how she was doing. But he pushed those thoughts aside. He raised her the best he could, it had been her idea to go off on her own, his duty was expended. That was it. He had just taken care of her because she was in need, a basket abandoned by a cowardly mother. Yep. That was it. Nothing more. Nuh-uh. Nothing. Zip. Zil. Nada. He hopes she was remembering to pace herself. And to not fly into any tree branches. Again.
He shook his head to clear these thoughts, and decided to just enjoy the morning. It was cold, which automatically put him in a good mood, and better, it was quiet. He was actually in fair spirits for a change. If he were the type to believe that a good day stayed good, he might be excited to see what the day would bring, but he was a realist. What it would likely bring was another chatterbox to spoil his mood. So, he'd enjoy it while he could.
He walked slowly through the morning, just savoring the cold air on his flanks and his somewhat red, still sore nose. At least he had stopped sneezing.

It was cold... And Calamity hadn't been able to find a protective place to spend the night. She walked along a path, her wing still injured, it's bandage starting to look dirty and in need of changing. Her muscles had gotten a bit stiff and she has a limp because of it.
She hadn't expected to meet anyone, she figured she'd be wandering around alone for a while. And she didn't even notice the other that was on the path that was heading toward her.

Pachu'a saw Calamity, and nearly turned aside. He knew that an encounter was inevitable. The world was simply too active for his solitude to last. Still, he wanted to preserve it as long as he could. However, as he was about to move aside, he saw the bandage. More, he saw a bandage in need of care. Great. Just great. He told himself to move along, that it was not his problem. He told himself to just move on. Told himself. Continued to tell himself as he walked right up to Calamity, and nodded at the bandage firmly, indicating the need for it to be fixed. Perhaps she would do so on her own and they could go their own ways. Maybe she would even be the quiet sort, and note babble at him as she did. Yeah, and maybe clouds were made out of grass.

Calamity stopped when he walked up to her. Her empty glowing eyes watched his head nod at her wing. Yes, she did know it was broken. Coming to Earth had been nothing but one bad thing after another. She shifted the wing which was a bad thing idea. Since the bandage was loose there was nothing keeping the bones straight, and the end of her wing took a strange and unnatural turn and drooped. The skin that had started to repair itself, was pulling and starting to again.
This send shivers of pain along the mares spine, and she quickly lowered her wing to let everything fall parallel.

He stepped forward, with a frown, using his head to support the drooping wing. It needed more then a bandage, it needed a splint. Of course, with his head now the sole support for the broken appendage, how was he supposed to communicate to her that she should lay down while he got what was necessary for fixing a broken wing?
Of course, it was primarily thanks to Lian that he had any clue what to do with a wing at all. If only she were here, he could send her for a healer and be done with his obligation in minutes. However, she wasn't, and he would have to make due. So for now he used is head to hold up the wing, thinking hard about how to communicate when the angle was wrong for her to see him well, and he couldn't risk nodding.

What an odd thing for the stallion to do. He took up the weight of her wing... It was a kind gesture though. But now he seemed to be 'stuck.' Her hallow eyes looked down at the the ground. Calamity was already causing him an issue. She carefully pulled away, her wing would slide off his head, and flop to the side... She cringed when it happened, but after a moment it felt okay, and she went to go on about her business. Though having stopped, she realized just how tired she was.
The small stream to the side looked like it had some clear water, and she made her way there to get something to drink. She would have liked a large pond or something to wash off in... But this would work for the time being, and she settled down next to the water.

He followed, and when she settled, he dashed off. He scouted about for cloth scraps, and found a length, the sort the humans liked to use, hooked on a bush. He took that then shouted for herbs that he knew. Some to kill pain, some to encourage growth. He piled them into the cloth and then made crude bundle of it and brought the bundle to her. He spilled the greens onto the grass and nudged a root towards her. He nodded at her, and at it, indicating with an ear flick as well that she was to chew it. Meanwhile he used a hoof and teeth to try and tear the cloth into strips for bandaging. Why were there never unicorns around when they were needed?

Calamity looked at him. She was suppose to chew on that stuff? What WAS that stuff? For being on the Earth for such a short time, she has been subjected to such strange things... She leaned forward and she chewed on the herbs. They didn't taste very good, but she'd had worse at this point. She looked over and watched as the stallion was tearing the cloth. She knew what he was going to be doing with that. Wasn’t the first time she’d seen it done. “You… Don’t have too.”

He shook his head. It was fine, he didn't mind. And she needed it. He gathered some of the herbs back and brought them to a stone, using his hoof to grind them into paste, focusing on the herb lore healing he knew, wishing he knew more. Really, really, he wished there was a unicorn present.

Calamity watched the stallion. She was grateful. Any relief would be welcomed. She hadn't had an easy time. She fell from her home, and was stuck there until her wing was fixed. But even then... She was suppose to find something. Something that would make her feel.. whole and right.
Lately she had met some really kind horses. And nothing bad happened to them... Maybe there was something to this Earth deal.

Once he had a thick paste on the stone, he took the leaf bandage in his teeth and pressed it into the salve, pulling it along slowly so that much of the mixture transferred to the softer surface. Then he moved carefully and began wrapping and setting the injury. some of they herbs were for immediate pain relief, others encouraged healing. Still, they needed to find some one with actual skill, real training, magic even. What could he do? He was just some dumb stallion used to living off the land. He didn't even know why he was helping her. With his luck, any minute now, she's start chatting up a storm and making him regret having even noticed her. Never failed. Females were nothing but trouble. Lian's image came to mind and he quickly banished it. Not like she ever even visited.

The mare looked over at him and winced lightly as he put the stuff on her. It hurt, but it started to feel good, like it was getting cleaned, and numbed at the same time. She let him do what he needed too, and tried not to fidget to much. Letting her eyes close, she started to fee very tired. She laid her head on the ground.
"Thank you.." She said softly to him. She had to at least say that much to the stallion. Landing in the new world, it was a lot to handle. She had run into issues all over the place, and hadn't really ever gotten proper sleep since.

He winced at her thanks, waiting for the torrent of words that he was sure would follow, that always followed. When they didn't, he blinked, surprised then studied her again. Clearly she needed rest. He hesitated then moved to lay beside her. He moved carefully to get under her wing, to support it if it drooped, then nudged her cheek lightly with his nose before nodding back to his shoulder. A silent invitation to use him as a pillow, if she needed. So far she had been quiet, and that was... pleasant. Was it because she was in pain, or was she naturally quiet? If it was the second, then he was doubly happy to have helped her. It was rare to meet others who felt as he did about speech. Rare, but wonderful when it did happen.
