Nikolette straightens her blouse and skirt then adjusts her shoulders. She attempted to be a corporate secretary but was fired so she kept the threads. She felt silly in the high heels and skirt. Like she was going to fall at any moment. She knocked softly on the door and waited. A kick of red hair broke through its boundries, her bobby pin fell to the floor.

"It's unlocked." Mike called at the door. He was leaning back in his chair, reading as he usually did in his free time. He closed the book with a loud thunk and looked at the door, waiting.

Mike opened the door and smiled warmly. "Of course. Just wait here and I'll be right back." He said as he gestured for her to sit in one of the chairs in front of his desk.
