I would guess that the god of unlucky days would be there so tey could pray and appease the god to make the days good and not unlucky. That's only a guess but it does make some sense, and Ihu would would probably be about children. The god of safe childhood or safe birth. I have a feeling that the rattle is just a symbol for the child or baby.

They all make sense to me. Know why? Because most people don't look deeply into other cultures.
1. The cosmic coconut would be like the native american version of the giant turtle, or the Norse Yggrasil, it's their explaination for universe or galaxy.
2. As for hairdressing, you don't know how important hair style is to tribal dance and courtship rituals of the Oceanic peoples such as Rapa Nui, do you? O.o
3. The god of unlucky days is self explanitory. Kinda like the Mayan Loki.
4. God of 4. DUH! The Mayans were a people who loved numbers and mathematics. It's only a no brainer as to why they have a god for a number.
5. As for Bayanni, another 'duh' being. Certain tribes need to do things precisely or they'll be damned without salvation! Ok, a little too much on the damned part, but still, you get the idea.
6. God of Bergs... that one does elude me. But It depends on which Native amaerican tribe this god was formed from. If coastal, then it's simple, they have a god for icebergs!
7. God of the sacred rattle. It's sacred, isn't it? O.o And again, the importance of rituals.
8. Another duh. Goddess of feather bedding. Another one I actually haven't read about as of yet.
9. Have you ever tried to swat a fly and have it dodge you? Or have the luck to catch it? Think primatively, what would you do if you were part of a religiously driven society and being frustrated that you can't kill a pest? Well, I don't know what you're thinking, but I would pray for a certain god to give me speed and agility to smite my rice sized foe! *swat*
Depending on the culture, certain gods of different things may seem strange to you, but if you were to talk about the god of icebergs to someone who doesn't know what ice is...would call it strange, too.

1) The Earth, probably. To many cultures, the Earth must have seemed like a coconut -- hard on the outside, but filled with precious fluids within. 2) Lugh outdid me here. 3) Well, why is there a God of the Underworld? 4) Lugh covered it, but also the Mayans saw 4 to be a heavily consistant number in "sturdiness." Most animals have four limbs, most buildings are best-sustained with four sides, etc. 5) Them tribes and their headdresses. All of their deities are represented in masks. 6) Long ago(10000-15000 years ago), the entire North America/Canada region was covered by the Wisconsin Glacier(or was it Wyoming? I'm sure it was Wisconsin). It eventually broke up and created the Great Lakes and almost all, if not all, rivers and streams we brag of today. Chances are, at some point after their arrival, the indians experienced leftovers. 7) Lugh cool Back in the barbarian days, you often were reduced to sleeping on rough earth and s**t, so I imagine feathered beddings were seen as somewhat...heavenly? This is a guess, of course, but I'm curious enough to go look into it. 9) What Lugh said, and in addition bear in mind this deity hailed from the old days when we didn't have soaps and deodorant abound, though baths were often taken, but many still went quite smelly for long periods of time, animals likely never washed, and everything probably just generally smelled like s**t(not like they had indoor plumbing. razz ). It was certainly like this in the Middle Ages. Flies, especially horse flies, were probably a common nuisance. Hell, what about Beelzebub, Lord of Flies?
Edit: I brokedsded the rules. All fixed, now.

Thanks for those.
I think that the fly swatting guy sat at Zeus's side to keep flies away or something, but I'm not quite sure.

Yeah, can you imagine what it would be like today?
Zeus: Where's Tipitelicus? Hera: Who's that? Zeus: The God of Anti-Virus...that blasted worm came back...

8 )....
Holda? Goddess of Feather bedding?... Never heard of her and its very doubtful her creation was little more than a joke... When the Aesir and Vanir pantheons took their rise, feather beddings werent something the Germanic and Scandinavian tribes had. Straw "bunks" covered with a skin was more in line with the times. I think I have a picture of a Norse long house somewhere that shows the interior with its bed places also. I'll post it when I find the right disk.
Maybe "Ye old b*****d" or Thor had a romp with a maid after feather beds became a common commodity? Then named her thus. xd It was a way for greek and roman mortals to get their deity, immortality or favoritism greencards, why not a Norse milking maid? XD

XD Sounds true enough XD And my extremely short skit between Zeus and Hera ealier in the page would be what life today would be like if more gods and goddesses were added to the ranks. Cuz you just KNOW that there's gonna be gods of computers and such if that happened XD

We sacrifice miscreants to her regularly.

I can't what until I have time to read this.
Am I the only one who doesn't find the God of the cosmic coconut strange? After all it seems to go back to the idea of the cosmic egg, form Chinese mythology. I will post something on that next Friday.

Nootaikok is actually Inuit, not Native American. Inuit would be what most people call "Eskimos". So it actually makes perfect sense.

If Holda is an acutal deity people worship/ed somewhere, maybe the featherbedding is just a minor aspect of her domain. She might be a goddess of sleep or comfort.
....just a thought.
