If you get a pm that says anything about needing your Password and your username do not send them. Even if they say they are with Gaia and they need it because you are considered a hacker.

This is called phishing and its a person who wants to get into your account and steal your stuff.

Gaia will never ask for your username or password.

If you at any time cannot log into your account you have probably been hacked if so file a hacking report.

Suggestions for all new gaians ^^

Make a list of all the items u own in a word document. You have no idea how hard it is to come up with all the names of your items when you just got hacked...

I was hacked once and it took me about 4 hours to make a list of the items. Which is part of the hacking report.

Also make your password long not too long mind you but 50 is the maximum you can have. I recommend it be a mixture of words and numbers. something that has no real meaning. That way its hard to hack...

I got hacked once upon a time it was not fun and they somehow figured out my password.

If anyone asks you for your password at any time report them.

^^ This is a safety message that is good to know for all you gaians.

Also if you get a message saying you need to pass it on or your account will be deleted in 2 weeks it is also false. I know it says from Derek the creator of Gaia but it is fake and in the Forums they even say they will never delete accounts even if they aren't active because it would mess with the systems numbering.

I don't know exactly what the game is with that message but its a fake so just ignore it.

Any other questions about this matter just ask me ^^

I suggest you all get familiar with this form it could save your gaia gold and stuff one day if you know what it looks like and where to find it! The official hacking report.

Thank you for the info and the warning.
I heard also about phishing pop ups which may appear at the forums or on profiles asking for your username/password.
Fortunately I never ran into some phishing stuff so far, but if this happens, I'll be warned.

0.0 where did u get such awesome hair! and yes it does happen. That is basically what that pm was phishing... they wanted you to give them your password and info.

So just look out for people like that. There are also hackers who don't need those things and are persistent and will try hacking you as much as you can... I think I had one of those yesterday.

The hair is from the CI that has been released yesterday. It's called Little Lemon Lime and it's not very expensive. I bought it for 13k at the marketplace.

How do you notice the hackers you mentioned who don't need those things? And what can I do to prevent being hacked by those people?

Amazing questions!

First of all have yourself a back up account these are called mules. Just have it lie low and dont have it look like its related to you. Sometimes its great to have store expensive items so if u are hacked you have at least some of your stuff.

Second Have a long password filled with gibberish words letters and numbers you can have a password up to 50 characters long... so go bonkers. I always have mine pasted into a word or notepad document on my computer.

Third Change your password fairly frequently. like once every month or two.

Fourth Make a word document and type up the name of every item you own and do it alphabetically... just do the items you wear the rest isn't a big deal unless you have the special rings you can only buy (Fortunes favor, or Sugar Rush ring) It took me a long time because part of the hacking form says to put the item information in it. So I had to type it all out which is what took me so long to report it... So making a list can be great Also its easier once its started to just occasionally fill in the new items you get. Much better to do it now then to do it all from memory if you are ever hacked!!!!

How I noticed that I was possibly being hacked. No way to be sure of coarse sweatdrop was that I normally have several tabs open on the internet. I moved on one and I was logged out for no reason. So i went to another one and logged back in very quickly and changed my password asap!

It happened again where i logged out for no reason so I changed it one more time and changed my user name. I also changed many other things to make me look less expensive and to blend in.

Those are my recomendations for the true hackers the ones who prowl around...

I was hacked once that way when I was on ZOMG i was so frightened! When you are hacked there is a form to fill out and i will post a link on the first comment where you put the information you need if you are ever hacked and cannot return to your account.

I got all my stuff back luckily, But hacking is no fun!

Thanks. I will make myself a mule and a list of my items immediately. When I joined Gaia my password was considered great, so I guess it's ok when I change it next month. ATM my account isn't even worth to be hacked (the mage is my only item that isn't that cheap), but I think it's better to be careful from the beginning. 3nodding

well and if you make the list now its so much easier... I had oh about 1000 things to list from memory! if u start small it works. Also with a mule you can make nice money going through zomg on both accounts. And your right it isnt worth it now but it could be later so if you have two smexy accounts running around your chances of losing all your stuff is lessened. and you can do what i do i have my avis split up into color themes and i tried balancing out net worth as well... not as great as I would like it to be but good enough ^^

also if u have a mule make another list for its items... its best to do that.

Did you list every wearable item, even the lucky pants you get almost daily? Or did you just list the more valuable stuff?
