Mason X walked up a hill. Today will be fun. I am going to make it fun. He thought. Mason turned to face the slope of the hill, grabbing a tall flower, and fell down in the grass. He smiled, shutting his eyes. Look, today is already good. It was warm, and it felt nice, and the world was simple. Mason didn't like complicated things. They made his head hurt.
Mason sat up, staring down the hill at the nearby forest. He saw a flock of birds take off from the treetops. What makes them all do that at once? Are birds telepathic? Mason sat, and mulled over the thought. Eventually his head began to hurt, and he decided to not think about the birds anymore.

Karaluna sighed contently as she flew around. It was beautiful today. The sun was shining, a soft breeze was blowing and birds were chirping everywhere. Of course, being a flying cat, it occasionally spooked said birds, and they usually flew away from her, but she didn't mind.
Continuing on her usual flight path, Karaluna came across someone sitting on the side of a hill. Being as curious as she was, she decided to land and say hi to the newcomer, before she continued on with her flying and her enjoying the beautiful day.
Softly, Karaluna landed about ten feet away from the newcomer and walked over until she was only about five feet away, not wanting to startle the person. "Hello." She said, waving slightly.

Mason's eyes shot over to the source of the sound. A few feet away from him was a cat key with wings. "Hello! Who're you? I'm Mason X, but they just call me Mason. I-I guess you could call me X, I don't... I'm Mason" he felt his cheeks grow hot, a feeling familiar to him. Mason was rambling again. For some reason he did that alot.
Mason looked over the cat. Her eyes were dark green, and her fur was short and grey. Her wings appeared to be covered in short grey fur, not feathers. I wonder how it kept her aloft. His thoughts quickly wandered until he found himself imagining a jetpack that shrank into the strange key's back. He shook his head, snapping himself out of his little trance.
Mason sat up fully, crossing his legs, and absentmindedly began tracing imaginary swirls with his fingers. His eyes stayed locked on hers, eagerly awaiting her answer.

Karaluna giggled softly as the bunny before her rambled. In her opinion, she thought it was cute that he was rambling a little bit. She quickly composed herself so she could answer him. "It's nice to meet you Mason. My name is Karaluna." She said, giving him a soft smile. Karaluna loved her name, because not only was it pretty and had a nice ring to it, but even the meaning behind her name was pretty.
Karaluna's emerald green eyes took in the sight of the bunny before her. From his strange violet eyes, to the creamy beige and reddish orange coloring of his fur, to the patterned lock and the chains that bound him, until he found his one true love, to Karaluna, Mason was a very beautiful lock and soo much more prettier than herself.
She shook her head slightly to get her thoughts about Mason settled where they belonged in her head. "May I ask what you're doing on this fine day ?" She asked, being curious again.

The key, which had identified herself as Karaluna, giggled. Mason's thoughts went to bells, the kind that were expensive and intricate, and sounded beautiful. He suddenly realized that she had asked him a question. "I was just enjoying the day. It's so nice out... Can you actually fly?" Mason blurted it out before he could stop himself. His eyes immediately widened and he clamped his paws over his mouth. He hoped he hadn't scared or offended her. He wanted to get to know this key.

Karaluna giggled again when he asked her if she could fly. "I agree. Today is a nice day." She said smiling. "And yes, I can fly." She thought he was not only a cute bunny lock, but also kind of funny in his own way, whether he meant to be funny or not. And, just like he wanted to get to know her, she wanted to get to know him, which was why she hadn't taken off flying again. She couldn't help but wonder about the lock she had met.
Her little kitty ears twitched when she heard the birds, she had spooked, return and began chirping their little songs again. Shortly after that a light breeze picked up and gently fluffed and ruffled up Karaluna's fur. Anyone who was close to the winged kitty could tell that she smelled of a mix of coconut and cherry, with a slight hint of lavender as well. Most of which was due to her typical habits. She loved roosting in lavender bushes to smell the blossoms, just like she loved smelling cherry blossoms and eating cherries along with drinking coconut milk.

Mason smiled. The sound of her giggling filled the air. He stood up. "Karaluna, would you like to go berry picking with me? There are some strawberry bushes down by the forest..." Mason felt his cheeks go red again. He breathed in deeply. The air, which had smelled of grass and flowers before, now filled with the smell of cherries and coconut. Mason breathed it in, slowly, letting it fill his lungs. He jumped a little when he realized where the scent was coming from, it was Karaluna!

Karaluna smiled. "I would love to, Mason." She said. Karaluna wasn't picky when it came to berries or fruit in general and she loved picking and gathering them, just as much as she loved eating them. "Would you like to lead the way, seeing as you know where the berry patches are ?" She said after a few minutes of silence. She was enjoying spending time with Mason, for some unknown reason and she was finding it refreshing to have someone to spend time with for a change.

Mason smiled. "This way" he said, starting to walk down the hill. "They're down there, right by that tall tree with the purple flowers" Mason pointed to a cluster of bushes at the foot of the hill. It really was pretty here, and Mason was having fun wtith Karaluna. Today is already fun. As Mason climbed down the side of the hill the patterned chains that bound him rattled and creaked. Is there a way to stop it? He answered himself. Yes, you need to find the key. A sudden image of hearts filled his head. He shook away the thought, and continued walking.

Karaluna smiled back and walked down the hill with Mason, listening to the jingle and rattle of the chains that bound her friend. She wished she could help him get rid of the annoying clanks, rattles, and jingle of the chains because it had to get annoying with them always rattling with every step he took, but she didn't think her key would fit, so she merely shoved the thought out of her head and focused on how nice the day was and how much fun she was having.
"Do you often come here ?" Karaluna asked, to distract both herself and Mason from the sound of his chains. Of course that wasn't the only question she had for him. She had many others she wanted to ask as well.
