(yeah, this is long. But seeing the absolute low of a DDR machine provides quite a nice laugh)

I was in town this week when I decided to check up on the old DDR machine at the bowling alley. Back in the day, it was the first DDR machine I had ever played on. It was never a great machine in the first place (pads were pretty unresponsive, and it had Extreme like every other freaking machine (upgraded from 3rd mix)), but this is just insulting.

Feast your eyes on the worst pad in the world. Not only did they pry the arrows off of a TX-1000 and slap them on there (understandable though, the old ones were pretty cracked), but they can't read worth s**t. Left and Right barely work, Down doesn't work at all, and Up works if you give good head (on the left side, right side doesn't work period). The arrows that do work have about a .5 second delay time. Combined with the fact that Life Difficulty is maxed out, I only lasted about 10 seconds into You're Not Here. Normally, I can AAA that with my wenis.

User Image
Rotating Start button hooray! Noting the .75 to play, the fact that Life Difficulty is maxed out, you can't use mods, and "One Player Only" disclaimer, I can only assume that "Play at your own risk!" really means "This is a ******** rip, but we like money! Hail Satan!".

User Image
Yes, that's Move Your Feet. Yes, they did gut Extreme AC, toss in a PS2, and give it Extreme US. Yes, they should've just put 3rd mix back in. Also, the top half of the screen has Purple Screen Syndrome. Annoying, but slightly amusing seeing "Perfect!" in purple

User Image
In the end, I got really super pissed and flipped out on the machine in an attempt to express to the asshat called Manager my concern.

Seriously, I enjoyed spinning the Start buttons FAR MORE than I did actually playing.

That's pretty terrible. I've played on abooout... 5 Extreme machines. The worst was in a recreation centre in Michigan.

It was pretty much in the middle of a little arcade thing lobby thing, and it was awful. The volume was down SO LOW it was barely audible at all. The screen was all magnetized in the corners, like the one you posted seemed to be. The mats were okay, but the rest sucked. Oh yeah, and like NO songs were unlocked. Bah.

And the best would be a recent one we found in the city, which is pretty much unused. 1$ a game for versus, 4 songs, and everything is in excellent condition. My only complaint is that they have a speaker RIGHT BESIDE the ******** machine and they blare music all the time. Next time I go I'm gonna talk to the manager about getting that removed. mad

Our arcade used to have a speaker next to the machine too. Thankfully, when they saw that a lot of people used it, they kinda caught on to the fact that there's no need for radio in the first place.

sounds more like you gotten a DancingStage Fusion...
-that one got Move your Feet
-got bad timing
-weak response

try looking up topics about the DS:Fusion.

we had trouble with the DSF too, but with fixed it pretty nice, by using tape!!!
its been played alot though, its not the best arcademachine... but its cuuuute!
now, the arrows are totaly F*cked up, the hardly respond.
so now were bitching about it, and telling them about the upoming Supernova.
with luck they will replace fusion with supernova.

I feel real sorry for you. The worst I've played on was a cracked down arrow. Now they changed it so the up arrow is cracked.

Yeah, I'm hoping they won't have a problem with removing it. I mean, the place is completely littered with speakers (it's in a bar) so I don't think removing one would be too bad.

Nope, it's Extreme US. The main menu us exactly the same (arcades don't get Training Mode, Information, Edit Mode, Mission Mode, etc.). Not to mention the title says DDR EXTREME in big letters and all.

That happened to one of the DDR machines in my community. But when I went to see the ps2 ddr machine the local goth DDR freaks already tore it up. :> I mean litterally I may have the picture.

At least your were wearing an appropriate shirt for the picture. (:

Man, that is a shitty machine. I've never even had the "privledge" to play on anything that seriously sucked. The current machine I play on gives bullshit "Boo"s sometimes (both sides) and won't hold freeze arrows on the right side (which is the side I've gotten used to). Gawd, I'd cry if I ever saw a machine that horrible.

The shirt reflects the state of mind I was in as I played it all too perfectly. rofl

I always complained how "bad" the machine I played on most often was, but it was about as "bad" as yours. I'd kill just to play on it again. Anything but that one. gonk

Your shirt had me in tears.
Awesome!!!!

But I swear, that looked like this machine they were selling on E-bay. It's also a one-player and super slow.

The worse machine I've seen had so much food stuck to it. It was so unresponsive that you could Fail on "Cutie Chaser".. DX

Yeah speaking of stuff stuck to the pad, it's also got large dried puddles of what I assume to be sweat and miscellaneous shoe-droppings grafted into various places on the front end of the pad that no amount of Windex can hope to remove.

We even tried to clean them off like a year ago. Yes, the pads haven't been cleaned in THAT long.

The bar on that dance pad gave me pink eye. And I was the one taking the pic of 1un4r doing the HADDOUKEN! to the machine. And that is my right hand holding the button that spun.

Betson released some modded Ps2 Arcade US Extreme's i used to have one of these machines at my arcade too until it the machine crashed and started having smoke come out the back of the machine. (true story i was there to witness it) Luckily it had made enough money to convince the arcade owners to get us a JP Extreme machine.
