... This seems to be a good spot to make a map of my weyr. Erm. Stealing shamelessly from Ray's example, because it seems like a good idea:

First Post: The weyr
Second post: Updates
Third post: About K'makin
Fourth post: About Nakoreth
Fifth Post: Nimakio, etc.
Sixth Post: ? I dunno.

Updates

Right now: Kya is the designated Errand Boy to bring Ray food and klah.

Earlier: Not much. Hunting with Nakoreth, idle conversation, regular duties.

Before that: Remained sober at the celebration of Tolara having a baby.

K'makin

Name: K'makin (originally Kyamakin, often called "Kya" by friends)
Age: Roughly 26 Turns
Birthplace: A small hold near Nerat
Searched: Nerat's Smithcrafthall at 16 turns
Impressed: Brown Nakoreth at Ista Weyr at 17 turns

Appearance:
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 163 lbs
Hair: Everywhere. whee
Hair Color: Darkish, but going grey prematurely.
Eyes: Light reddish-brown

History:
K'makin was a mischievous youngster, and an equally troublesome Weyrling, but took his duties in caring for Nakoreth seriously. After graduating from their Weyrling group, K'makin was content to be a regular dragonrider; the life was a lot more enjoyable than that of a Smith. He and Nakoreth did little to stand out from the crowd, and thus maintained a middling rank and an overall decent reputation among the other dragonriders in his wing.

After Nakoreth caught a queen, Wrath, in a mating flight, K'makin requested a transfer to Benden Weyr. Since then, he's not really done a whole lot, slipping back into his customary role of a middle-rank brownrider.

Nakoreth!

Looks:
Nakoreth is a brown dragon, a bit larger than average, but not by much. He's brown like a penny that's still fairly new, but has lost it's bright coppery shine.

Personality:
A reflection of Kya in some ways, Nakoreth is a lot more self-honest and is a bit more outgoing and active than the average brown.

Other things.

Nimakio:
Kya's first flit, a blue, Nimakio's egg was given to Kya by Rayi, from one of Isskio's clutches. Normally a sweet flit, Isskio bit Kya to wake him in time for Nimakio's hatching, a precedent that was taken up by the hatchling.

The name was suggested by Rayi, as a combination of Kya, Nakoreth, and Isskio's names. Kya often refers to Nimakio by the nickname "Mack."

Thankfully, Nimakio has calmed down somewhat since his hatching, though he still tends to unwittingly cause his person injury. He tends to only hang around if he wants something, or if Kya has Nakoreth call him.

Some of K'makin's Current Thoughts.

Location: Riding Nakoreth overland to Fort, accompanying Rayi and Wrath.

Well. It seems Ray and I are friends again, or something. She doesn't seem to be angry at me, or acting strange, though I still feel kinda weird about our arugment the other day.

Oh well. Nakoreth flew well in the mating flight, and I'm proud of him for accepting his defeat gracefully. He knew as well as I that the Weyr needed a strong, large clutch, and that we especially needed bronzes.

I don't know how things will work out now, now that Benden's been disbanded. Or ... I think it's been disbanded. The miners were talking about how it'd take Turns to make sure the Weyr was liveable... Some of them went so far as to speculate that we might be able to return at some point during the Interval.

How many Turns are left until the end of this Pass? I forgot. You'd think that it'd be the sort of thing that's always on a Rider's mind. "This many Turns left until the Interval begins, this many seasons, this many days, this many hours, this many minutes..." But honestly? I cannot recall.

I wonder how far we've gotten. I'm not used to flying long distances like this, except while flying Sweep. And those are routes that have regular landmarks all along the way. We've already passed a lot of the familiar territory immediately around the Weyr ... and I haven't really been a Benden Rider for long enough to have seen everything.

I should really start thinking about things. Ray seems to be getting rather attached to P'las. I don't know what the difference is, between him and me, beyond the color of our dragons. I can be honest, I'm not handsome--and neither is he. In fact, P'las and I seem to have a lot in common, judging from our brief conversation.

Do I want to interfere with them? I don't know. I mean, yes, I do want to meddle, but would that really be the best thing to do? I don't meddle so well, I would likely be pretty obvious about it. I should just talk to her... but it's so hard to talk to her sometimes, especially about serious things like this. I mean, she's fine when it's a really serious issue at hand, but when it comes to emotions, everything's a joke. I can't tell, sometimes, if she's really angry at me, or if she's pretending to be angry because it amuses her, or if she honestly likes something, or if she's pretending to like something to avoid hurting people's feelings.

And I joke around her so much, because it's easier to joke around her than it is to be serious, that if I did tell her, she'd probably take it as a joke.

...

Nakoreth's telling me I'm a wherry.

If only things were as simple for people as it is for dragons.

I kinda like my new weyr. It's a bit bigger than the last one, and Nakoreth loves having a larger couch than the old one. I had to clean it up a bit though, before settling in. I've even gotten most of my things from Benden, the miners have been doing a pretty good job of finding our possessions.

Ray's been pretty busy lately, and I don't see much of my old wingmates, they've been pretty disorganized, since our Wingleader and Wingsecond were among the injured, and although they've recovered, they seemed reluctant to have us drill as a group or anything.

Nakoreth and I are on the duty roster though, we fly sweep for most of the old Benden territories; there still hasn't been a Weyrleader's meeting to determine a territorial re-division; they're waiting on Tolara, I suppose. As a tempoary measure, all of the Weyrs have been sending a wing or two to fight thread in the Benden territory, and ... well ... someone's been organizing the sweepriding.

I'd like to find a way to spend my free time a bit more socially. Most of the senior riders here are working on some project at the Smithhall.

Someone told me a wherry was set loose in the kitchens today. I'd have liked to have seen that!

Shards! I just ran into Rayi sitting next to P'las. Where has he been?

The Weyrwoman's baby was a boy. I'm trying not to get drunk; I drank with the toast R'ign just announced, but the memories of the last time I got drunk are still too fresh for comfort.

Today, I had two weird conversations with Ray. One at breakfast, and then later that day. I meant to apologize to her at dinner, but didn't see her.

Nakoreth's been hunting well. He prefers wild wherries to the ones in the pens, and for some reason, likes the fishy flavor of the ones off the coast. I'm not about to object.

Wrath started clutching, and Nakoreth made me take Ray some food and clothes. She was so embarassed to be standing there in just a long shirt.

Nakoreth just told me that one of the greens is rising. I wonder if I've met her rider. But it seems Nakoreth is too worried about how strange Wrath is acting to be interested in chasing this green. She's drawn quite a crowd though, from the image Nakoreth just sent.

Just my luck, pulling a long sweepflight duty the day of the Gather. I should be off duty toward the evening though, maybe I can get some dancing in. Or maybe I'll get to see Ray in a dress, I heard a Weaver came and bullied her into being fitted for one.

Now that would have been something to see!

Was too tired to attend the Gather. Really too tired for anything. I think I'll sleep.
