Gail: Wing Rider in First Wing: Fort Weyr

User Image

Character Profile
Name: Gail
Postion: Rider in First Wing
Appearance: Gail is of a average height being at 5' 5", her hair falls to her shoulder blades, cascades of a rust red-brown color. Her eyes are a shade uncannily like that of her dragon's hide, a dazzling dark green with flecks of lighter blue. Her laugh and voice is musical and lovely. Her build is sturdy, like that of most Bitrans; broad shouldered and well toned from swimming and constantly scrubbing her dragon's hide. Her face has a sulty look and her skin is tanned; well accustomed to Istan heat.
Background: Gail was born a Bitrian to a family of known gamblers. She learned how to pick her first lock at the age of 4 turns and could play a loaded dice better than any her age. She was fostered to an Istan family when she was eight turns, before she could perfect her card skills. After spending four turns coping with the dazzling heat, cheating the local kids out of quarter makes, and learning all she ever needed to know about sand and sea the Harper discovered her and noted her stong lyrical voice and perfect pitch. One Turn later she was accepted into the Harperhall as an apprentice, a novel since there were at the time still few females accepted as full apprentices. There she stayed cultivating her beautiful voice and making man friends of the male variety. Because females were still so few she was very popular with a group of journeymen and was ahead in the news moreso than most of the other students. She never advanced much despite her obvious talent. A women Harper just would not be tolarated. She was considered an unofficial journeyman and was often set to journeyman tasks without the knots. This all suited her. Her world turned on it's head as she encountered a injured girl on the doorstep of the Hall and had a chance meeting with Fort's Weyrwoman.

Dragon's Proflie:
Dragon: Green Xaith. Xaith was hatched from Glith's seconed clutch. Her skin color is a dark rich green with whorls of darker blue beneth the intial color. She has a scar disfiguring the right side of her muzzle, twisting it into a constant mischeivious grin, showing the points of several sharp teeth.

Xaith settled on the ledge extremely disgruntled. She hadn't been bathed properly in days and Her's was unhappy being stuck in the weyr on the ground. She resettled her wings and lounged, her slightly redish eyes sweeping over the weyr. All the Benden dragons were stettling on the heights anxiously watching. The flits zoomed about chattering endlessly. She wanted her Mine to be better and up here with her. She thought of going down the where her Mine was staying but it smelled musty and her Mine was in and out of sleep, barely noticing anything, so she would stay where she was, roaring a half hearted welcome to the incoming dragons.

Gail stripped off her heavy riding jacket and boots and left them neatly near the open of sleeping quarters. She heard Xaith settling down on her couch, scrubbing in the sand. Gail made a mental note to sweep it out, Xaith liked it but it made her dirty much quicker.
She stepped lightly to the bathing chamber; it was shared by two different weyrs but only one other weyr was filled by another Green from her clutch. She was from a lesser rank, and, Gail hated to admit it, a horrible flyer.
She stripped off her hot, sticky clothing and carelessly piled it by the wall. The bath was a rather large thermal pool and Gail made haste to get in. The water was warmer than she would have like so she scrubbed quickly soaping up her hair and body with the herb mixed soap sand. She looked down to admire her skinny self. She'd been doing so much work lately she carelessly skipped meals and she was shrinking.
Shells, I look like a bony drudge... she chuckled and splashed the soap off of her person, rinsing her hair under the spout that produced the hot water from the reservoiur in the walls, it supplyied many pools on the floor constantly recycling and filtering the water.
Once she felt significantly cleaner she hopped out of the pool and dried herself hurrying to dress and comb through her thick hair. She needed a trim, such hair just was too warm in the dead of summer. She twisted it, still wet, into a loose knot at the back of her neck and threw on a finely patterned skirt, loose tunic, and light slippers and was away towards the kitchens.

Xaith was sunning on the heights waiting to go fishing when she felt her riders enthusiasm. She flew back and landed on the ledge but soon learned that they were not indeed fishing, but Glith's was clutching. This seemed of little importance to her so she curled up on the ledge. It didn't get much light, it was facing the West and it was still early morning. But the rocks were still warm from the sun baking them the day before. The summer sun was hot and even the wherrys looked wilted by it's heat. Xaith was anxious to fly fall again... but Glith's had to okay her's because she thought her's was not well but that was silly. Her's was fine and had been fine even for last fall... So she curled and waited. Glith seemed very happy.

Xaith snorted, laying out on her ledge catching the fading rays of the afternoon sun. No fishing today... It sounded like fun, she had never done it before. Her's had been busy with Glith's and now she was happy and Glith was too.
She shifted a bit, flicking the tip of her tail
She had wanted to go fishing and swim in the ocean... their were waves to play in. The water didn't move like that in the lake and it was warmer.
Her tail flicked more, agitated.
She would go play in the ocean tomorrow, she'd make Her's promise.

A small ball of dust rolled desolately around the empty weyr. It weaved around the table legs and in and out of the various discarded clothing. It eventually made it's way into Xaith's weyr where it twirled around her sand and grit filled couch. It was a nice little dance.
The breeze caught it again and coaxed it towards the edge where it faught and pulled but was eventually pulled over the edge to where it floated towards it's death in the nostral of a brown sleeping on a ledge underneath.

A tiny dust ball whilred around, wondering where it's older brother went. It too followed the formers footsteps of lonely meandering until it to went over the edge to float to parts unknown.

Discarded clothing was everywhere as the couple slept peacefully (pre-waking up mayham).

Xaith was finding Morkth to be a very exasperating mate. He was eager to please, no doubt, and seemed thrilled beyond belief to have caught her beautiful self but the way he preened and gazed at her like a shiny toy. Not to mention the way he jealously guarded her any time another male flew past the entrance of the weyr. He would raise his wings threatingly and his eyes would grow red.
Pretty pompus for a chance encounter. She did not think she would choose him next time. Perhaps she would hurry up and choose another just to get him to stop thinking of her as his. But, soon he would forget. Her's said that she forgot everything.

Gail awoke, thankfully alone, after her rather long day at the gather. She found T'rin and exasporating, eager to please man, through he seemed frightened of her at the same time. She thought teasing him was fun but the poor guy wasn't going to come out of his shell any time soon.
As far as gathers went this wasn't the best but she had to say the Masterharper made quite a stir.
Another thing it Ipsen happened to be the Masterharper. This threw her for a loop. She had been so busy with T'rin that she hadn't even gotten the chance to say hello to her old lover. Though, really, she couldn't have picked anyone better to be Masterharper. She still had his letter he has sent her after she had impressed. He had been angry that she had been swept away to the Weyr without him knowing but all the same he felt that being a greenrider better suited her than spending the rest of her life as some ignored harper girl even if he had planned on marrying her.
Ha, a fat load of dragon dung that was. Ipsen would never change. He was a born skirt chaser, though he was a rather refined skirt chaser with at least some semblance of taste.
Gail was never a jealous woman but she knew better than to trust Ipsen when he was on his own. Their relationship thrived on a healthy does of threats of bodily harm and prolonged guilt trips though they enjoyed each emensly.
Well, Gail reasoned with herself. He's let his stand on the issue be known. I'll be seeing more of him.

A thin light reveals an alert dragon perched on a sleeping couch, everying is black except for the faint reflection on her eyes. A woman sleeps curled up between her forearms both both are agitated.

Gail sleeps and dreams of her sexy harem of men and one that looks vaugly female wrestling for her attention while the rest of her ignore ignores ignores ignores.
Xaith is little and flys around her head going "Look! Listen! Hey!" And glows.
Gail groans and shoos her away but catches a glimpse in the mirror and sees that her thread score is growing...scales? She's turning into a dragon! A green one! ...Actually that might be fun. But her harem! She doesn't want to lose them, but then ship fish pop out of the water and sing in a heavenly chorus about large balls of fluff and meatrolls stuffed with numbweed.
You can't because banana's don't have bones!
