Nearra has been flown in to the nation of Tohoku, free of charge. The various leaders of this place have hoped to stimulate the entire region's economy by starting up their very own Pokemon League and inviting Trainers from all over the world to participate. This Trainer has chosen the route of the solo Trainer for the time being and will travel on her own.

Her flight lands in a crowded city that is in arid desert. This place was about to get battered with a sandstorm, so she has been led to a nearby cave that the city use to shelter travelers without a permanent residence. The city's strange customs The storm wasn't expected to last for more than an hour or so.

As the three Trainers leave the plane, they feel a chilled wind brush against their faces. The town that they have arrived in is in the North portion of Tohoku and it is surrounded by a Tundra.

The town was so small that it was quite surprising that the town even had the means to support an airport. The leaders of Tohoku had decided to import the Trainers from around the world into random locations in the region, making sure that any one area wouldn't get too crowded too quickly. They also made sure to inform the Trainers of what kinds of clothing they should bring, as they didn't want anyone to wear a T-shirt and shorts to an Arctic habitat.

On the group's flight in, they would have seen a large Taiga to the West of their current location. In addition, they would have seen a Grassland in the east and snowy mountains even further out. They heard talk on the flight about a large and frigid City to the north of the small town, and it was likely that the City would have adequate shopping opportunities, a potential for work in order to raise money, and probably another Pokemon Gym.

The group would have the option of heading towards the City, scouting out the area for Wild Pokemon, or venturing off in a different direction, seeing what they would stumble across.

Sukotto yawned and stretched after getting off of the plane. Cold air filled his nostrils and was swept down his throat, causing it to ache slightly. He was used to the warm and humid temperature that was present on the beaches of Cianwood City, and it was a bit of a shock at first. Thankfully, the leaders of Tohoku informed all of the Trainers of the kind of climate they would need to expect, so he was dressed appropriately. Sukotto was a proud member of the Fighting Gym, so he wouldn't let a bit of cold put a damper on his spirit. It would, however, take a bit of getting used to at first. He looked back to his two new traveling partners to see how they reacted to the cold. "We've finally made it. I don't know about you two, but I'm quite excited to see what kinds of Wild Pokemon live in this environment. Would you guys like to go find out?" Thankfully, Sukotto's Croagunk didn't mind the cold too much. Doku wouldn't favor it over any other climate, but Sukotto figured that he'd adapt to it well enough.

The cold reminded Metsuki of winter time back home. He inhaled deeply and closed his eyes. He could smell smoke from a far off town permeating over the land. He was not familiar with this area, but he assumed that the town responsible for the smell could be the only nearby civilization for quite some time. Areas such as this were closed off and remote forcing the inhabitants to be self reliant. The plane that brought them here was quite possibly the only contact with the outside world this little slice of heaven ever saw. It was used mostly to bring in medical supplies and live stock rather than tourists Metsuki gathered.

"I have more interest in Wild Pokemon than I do in small towns. I think our boldness would be rewarded if we chose to wander around for a while". Metsuki's mind wandered for a moment. The smoke gave him nostalgia as well, but not the kind that brings forth fond memories.

Oratu stepped out of the plane with his arms up and his back arched while he yawned before he let out a heavy sigh. Oratu was warned about the climate, but wasn't too worried considering he spent his entire life in the same weather. After the exhalation of his breath, Oratu had an exaggerated slouch. " I left this kind of place to see the rest of the world, and I end up in a place with the same boring skyline." Oratu then readjusted his shoulder bag, straightened his posture a bit, and scanned the land. He stood wearing his robe, this time it was actually being worn properly instead of the usual lazily thrown on garment. Underneath he wore a thin material that hugged his body, and insulated his body heat incredibly well. After one last gaze at the horizon Oratu turned towards the other two "You both seem eager to explore! I would hate to be the one stopping you guys, I will follow whoever is 'blazing the trail' this time!" he said with a wide smile and eyes closed, while scratching his horribly untidy hair. His mind drifted slightly, and he felt a small warming sensation coming from inside, although he hadn't been away from the harsh environment for long, he had missed the cold, yet familiar feeling. He just couldn't help but think about Amerad, and what her thoughts of this alien place would be.

The group set off into the Tundra on their adventure. There wasn't a large variety of Pokemon in the Tundra like there would be in a Forest or Grassland, but there were a few interesting ones to be found. As the Team wandered around a little, they happened upon two Pokemon who looked like baby birds that couldn't fly.

Wild Encounter
Species: Piplup
Number of Pokemon: 2

Will the group engage the Piplup in battle? If you would like to, send out your Pokemon. If two Trainers send out their Pokemon, the Team will have committed to the fight. If you're not interested, your character should say so.

Oratu instantly retracted his statement about being the follower on this expedition, he had never actually seen a Piplup; although he heard plenty about them and had seen paintings of them back home. Before waiting for a response from the rest of the team he hucked out a pokeball and simply screamed "CHARGE!!" Any concerns he did have about how Amerad would handle the climate had vanished, and you could see the hunger in Oratu's eyes. Most had never seen this part of Oratu's personality.

Amerad shivered and had a panicked look about her face, but was ready to help Oratu with whatever he wanted to achieve.

"How interesting...." Metsuki said as he crouched down in the brush. Piplup's have the potential to become very powerful Pokemon. He knew a few trainers that had used them in the past and they were nothing to scoff at. Their harmless demeanor was simply a guise that they wore very well.

"Joules, I have a feeling that you are going to be perfect for this" Metsuki said with a smile as he summoned his Minun.

Sukotto had only known Oratu for about half of a day, but the look in his eye was unmistakable - Piplup was a Pokemon that he really desired to have. "You two can each go for one of these. I'll wait for something else to come along!" With that said, Sukotto tossed out a Pokeball while shouting, "Go Doku!" The Croagunk let out a loud croak as the cold wind tickled is moist skin. It then shook the feeling off and looked back towards Sukotto, awaiting instruction. "We're going to help my friends catch these little guys, okay Doku?" The frog-like Pokemon croaked in agreement and prepared to attack the two small birds.

Sukotto has elected to allow Oratu to use his Trainer Action before him, so there is no need for a tie-breaker.

"Why don't you guys let Joules and I take the lead on this one?" Metsuki said as he turned towards the Piplup. "Joules, use your Thunderwave to paralyze them. It will make it a lot easier to capture them. Try to do it quietly."

Joules seemed to get excited at the idea of having another Pokemon around. She began to charge silently. Visible sparks could be seen gathering around her and her hair began to stick up. When it looked like her tiny frame could hold no more energy she let out a loud squeak and released the Thunderwave in the direction of the unsuspecting Piplup.

Both Piplups are now paralyzed.

A note to any readers: Outside of the guild, I told Metsuki to roll a 1d20 to determine whether or not both Piplups became paralyzed. This isn't officially part of the game system, but there will be moments in roleplay that require a bit of improve such as this.

A grin crept across Sukotto's face as Metsuki's Minun began the battle with a jolt. "Well done, Metsuki and Joules. Doku, let's continue the assault with one of your Mud Slaps." Doku grabbed a handful of frozen earth and hopped towards the pair of Piplups. It then hurled this collection of debris at the nearest one, aiming for its eyes. Sukotto wanted to use Mud Slap first to test the endurance of the young Pokemon. He didn't want to overdo it with Doku's Astonish, just in case it managed to hit the little guys too hard.

10(Mud-Slap) - 7(Piplup's Special Defense) = 3 Damage Dealt

The attack doesn't seem to harm Piplup too badly.

Piplup #1 is still standing strong.
