Nicohlas led Helena down the path and to a small watching booth created alongside the pasture. Within a gazebo style archway a stone bench provided moderate comfort for anyone who wanted to sit and watch. A circular stone table offered a place to set drinks or other small items. Nicohlas carefully maneuvered his chair in through the gap that was barely wheelchair accessible. "We can sit here and watch Nathan." He explained as he backed his chair into the small wedge of empty space that was clearly meant to be for his chair. His gray eyes looked up at Helena expectantly.
"Your really going to be my sister? I've never had a sister before. Do you have any siblings? I only have Nathan, but he's a real good brother. Just wait and see, you'll really like him" Without Nathan or Sampson present to curb his enthusiasm, Nicohlas rambled on excitedly. He could see Nathan speaking with the instructor, who still appeared to be mildly agitated. Nathan shrugged his shoulders once, then climbed up onto the black Arabian stallion. "That's Thunderstruck. Nathan won't ride anyone else but him. You know he helped when he was born?" Nicoh explained without barely a pause of breath. He pointed towards the horse in question. "Sampson and Eugene won't let us have pets, so Thunderstruck is the closest we have. I try to feed him but he has a tendency to bite."

:: The surrounding grounds really were lovely and as Nathan had mentioned, plenty of room for skiing if she wanted... she'd come down into the sitting booth with Nico, looking out at Nathan just as he'd give a shrug of his shoulders and go to mount the lovely black stallion... "This does have a cozy feel to it..." she'd noticed how there had been barely enough room for his chair to fit through, it was as if the builder had opted for style rather then accessibility for the young boy. "..and we can get to know one another better.." as she sat down on the stone bench she looked over at Nico with a smile as his question started to burst from him like unspent energy.
"Yes, one day I will be your sister, when Nathan and I are old enough to marry and we decide it's time..." but then Nico would go on, barely giving her time to process what he was saying before moving on to the next thing that would fly into his mind and he'd just have to share it... Something she locked on though, the no pets thing... her lips tightened into a thin line and worry creased her brow.... "No.... pets?..." she's start to fidget with her hands, wringing her fingers as if she were holding a dish cloth... "oh.... oh no..." looking back up towards the house where Nan and Sampson were talking... wondering if the butler already knew or there would be problems even before her little Tokei got here. "Surely, Mamma and Pappa mentioned Tokei....." she'd speak in a troubled, distracted voice. ::

Nicohlas settled back and watched his brother posting on the stallion. Up and down, up and down his long legs moved while he road the horse according to the instructors directions. He gave a small longing sigh. How he missed riding with his brother! Nicohlas glanced over at Helena as she would answer his eager questions. "I am looking forwards to the wedding then. I think it would be fun to go to a wedding! Though..." He paused and pursed his lips thoughtfully. "Yes. No pets. Mother doesn't like the thought of them messing up her house or chewing on her expensive tables. Or making it smell. But she wouldn't even let Nathan have a pet fish" He frowned a little bit more.
"Who is Tokei?" He asked curiously. Nico pulled his eyes away from his prance riding brother to look eagerly at Helena.

:: She couldn't keep her mind on the very attractive young man that was basically preening on horseback for her... .she did think absently that she'd probably break her groin if she tried to do what he was doing... like some cartoon character falling on to a flagpole that would be her on the horse's back... but she kept her mind on basically one thing now... her pet... "Not even a fish? That seems a bit... overly strict?" Frowning as she'd look over at Nicohlas.. She'd never been denied a pet, granted she'd never asked for anything too outrageous, but not so much as a fish?
"Tokei is my puppy... and.... oh dear..." as if on cue, the van with the words "Animal Airlines" pulled into the drive, smaller writing below proclaimed... "We make your pet's comfort our #1 priority..."

Nicohlas spread his hands and half smiled apologetically. "I suppose my mother is very particular? I do not know, but it is not so bad a rule. I have heard horrible stories about pet's ruining books and eating home work. I never would like that!" Nico glanced back towards his brother, then blinked at the sound of a vehicle drawing up the drive reached the little gazebo area.
Nico twisted a little to look over his shoulder and blinked. The van's bold lettering was easy for him to read from where they were. "Puppy?" He repeated with surprise. A dog? There was a dog coming there? Nicohlas pushed his chair forwards and carefully exited the gazebo with a surprised expression. Behind him, Nathan drew his mount up to the fence and watched with a perplexed expression as well. He blinked his eyes and pushed the loose purple bangs back from them. "What is that?" He called out while ignoring the sharp command of his instructor to resume his practice.

:: Helena exited the gazebo with another look up towards the house, half expecting a dog catcher to come bursting forth with net in hand... "Tokei went to puppy training school, he does not chew on paper products, only his toys.... oh dear, oh dear.... " she hurried past Nico and started to jog up the path and then across the lawn towards the stopped van... glancing over at Nathan as he'd brought his mount around... "It's... it's Tokei... I didn't know your parent didn't allow pets... oh I do hope Mamma and Pappa made sure it was alright!..." she was jogging through the snow now, her slippers making a crunch and she thought she'd take a spill a couple times but she made it to the van...
... "Miss York?" a young man came around the side of the side of the van to where she was standing behind it... that worried frown still on her lips.. "don't worry, he made it all the way here like a champ... here, could you sign this please?..." quickly scanning over the delivery papers she scrawled out her name and then held on to that as he opened up the back of the van and there was Tokei in a neat little kennel, his black coat thick and soft and those expressive eyes with white about them and the perk of faux eyebrows over him gave him a look of surprise at the sight of her... and then his excited little bark... "well it looks like someone's happy to see you!.." Helena opened the cage door and up the pup scrabbled into her arms, happily licking at her face... "Thank you!" she told the driver as Tokei continued to give her 'kisses' she'd turn from the truck and head back towards Nico, wriggling pup in arms... she didn't even make it half way before Tokei wriggled so strenuously to be let down that she did as he wished, the little ball of energy visible one moment, then vanished into a pile of snow the next... Tokei made it to Nico first, happily racing around his chair, sniffing at his feet and looking up at him with pale blue eyes that looked almost white, his tongue lolled out to one side as he'd bound around the chair again, trying to sniff at his hands. ::

He couldn't believe it. He couldn't! Nicohlas finally managed to get halfway to the house, when the small creature came vaulting over the snow at him/ "Ahhhh!" Nicohlas managed to cry out as that furry black face popped op over his knees. He'd never been so near to a dog before! Nico threw his hands up over his head, half afraid, half excited. "Don't bite me!"
Nathan had sat upon his horse as Helena ran up over the snow to the van. For a moment he was merely surprised. But the moment he saw that little black form...he knew exactly what it was. A dog!? Nathan's jaw slightly dropped. It was the sound of his brothers uncertain yell that propelled him into action. Nathan swung himself down from Thunderstruck and vaulted over the wooden fence surrounding the pasture. With long and quick strides, his booted feet had a easier time crossing the snow covered grounds then Helena's slippered feet had.
As Nathan came up to Nicohlas, he dropped to a knee and slapped his hands in front of him. "Here puppy. Here boy." He called to the dog. Nico turned his head, and the uncertainty melted away as he caught a glance at the unrestrained smile on his big brothers face. If Nathan was smiling that big, surely there was nothing to be afraid of!

:: Boy were her feet ever cold! Helena made it the rest of the way and by the time she got there Nathan was by Nico and Tokei was contemplating Nathan with the most adorable tilt of that dark head. It seemed the puppy knew the signs that he was using but there was something that made him hesitate. Tokei looked up at Nico one more time, his pink tongue lolling out of his mouth in a doggy grin before he'd turn his attention back to Nathan... Finally seeming to make up his mind when Helena was there and spoke to him in a few words of Swedish the pup then bounded towards the waiting arms of Nathan... "Nathan, Nico, this is Tokei... he's only a few weeks old but he is a very smart little guy..." Tokei mean while seemed to want pettings from all of them, sniffing at Nathan's hands before he'd let him touch him, then all was well and right in his little doggy world. "Nico was telling me that pets weren't allowed here, would you happen to know Nathan if Samson made any mention of Tokei because I'm sure that my Mamma and Pappa would have made sure that it was alright with your Mamma and Pappa..." she couldn't stop her teeth from chattering, she would have to go inside, it was only a matter of time before Nan came outside and scolded her fiercely for running out in the snow dressed as she was... sure enough the door was opening and Nan was coming out with a blanket in her hands and a scowl of disapproval on her lined old face. ::

Nicohlas twisted his chair around to watch Nathan with the dog. The reaction was...incredible. He had seen his brother around birds and cats, and even with Thunderstruck. But none of them ever seemed to make his brother act like this! "Tokei?" He repeated softly. "He's so cute! Oh I hope he can stay! I want to make him something to wear!" Nicohlas couldn't help the eagerness that crept into his voice. Oh! He could make him little booties! And a cap! and a CAPE! That said Super Tokei! Nico's head turned a little then, as he heard the sound of other feet crunching through the snow. "Oh oh! Nan looks mad." He whispered to Helena. Nico watched as nan bore down on them with that blanket. It looked like she was going to catch Helena up in it and drag her away! Like a pirate after a Lady! For a brief moment, Nico was able to see Nan wearing a eye patch and a tri corner hat. He barely managed to smother a small giggle from escaping his throat. And behind her was first mate Sampson, scampering through the snow in an attempt to keep up with nan as she moved more quickly a woman of her age and size seemed capable of. At least tot he young boy it seemed.
Nathan could not take his eyes from Tokei. His silver eyes seemed to lighten to a whiter shade with how wide open they had grown. His lips as well were parted into the largest grin that he'd worn in years. He couldn't care less about Nan coming. Nor was he occupied by the worry that Helena obviously was fretting with. He didn't care. All he could think was.... "Puppy puppy puppy! C'mere!" He coaxed Tokei after he sniffed his hand. He saw the small husky bouncing in the snow, and he did not hesitate to drop to his knees and palms with him. "C'mere! I'm gunna getchu! I'm gunna! Grrrr!" He playfully spoke to Tokei with that uber cheerful voice that denoted play. He reached his hands out to playfully bat at the dog, as if he were going to snatch him up. Though, once Tokei was close enough, he did try to snatch the puppy out of the snow, so he could plunk a kiss on his forhead. "Gimme kisses!"

:: Helena looked at the frightful Nan decending upon her... biting her bottom lip she nodded her head in agreement with Nico. "Very mad..." very, very, very mad... she almost had the impulse to run because Nan was a very intimidating person... but she stood her ground and even lifted her chin a notch when her Nan would swoop down upon her with that blanket... wrapping it around her shoulders so it hung down to nearly her ankles "I'm fine Nan, I just panicked a little bit... see Nicohlas here told me that pets were not allowed and if they aren't allowed I can't stand the thought of little Tokei being all by himself for months and months while Mamma and Pappa are gone!" She'd shift her ice blue eyes to Sampson, looking to him and imploring for the sake of the poor little pup... "I'm sure they said something about Tokei, Yes? Right?" she couldn't help but glance down at Nathan over and over again when he'd fallen to his knees... she had to press the back of her hand to her mouth to keep from giggling. "You have done enough mischief today young woman, you will come inside and rest now, I will talk with Sampson," The old woman literally did swoop her off back to the house.. Helena's slippers skidding and skipping across the path.... "Catch your death of cold you will, oh I have no idea what you are thinking half the time, running out in the snow dressed as you are?! You are not a snow nymph Helena! The boys will watch Tokei for now, do not worry over it. Come, come, come... what were you thinking!?" Shepherding her back into the house.
Tokei didn't take long in getting up into the playing... his ears perked forward with the way that Nathan was talking and now down on his level... he'd race crazily back and forth in front of the young man, staying just out of reach and making wide arcs out to the sides where he'd crash into the snow and make big sprays of it up into the air when he hit. Yapping in his tiny bark happily he'd growl in his fiercest puppy growl that he could and rip roar closer and closer. Making a huffing noise each time he'd get close enough to pounce on Nathan, but still being too far he'd race off with huge looking pale eyes for the whites of them were showing from all the excitement. Play Play Play!! Closer and closer he'd come to Nathan until he'd pounce into his arms, licking his face furiously and wagging that fluffy tail madly, wiggling like a wild thing in his arms. he could feel that tiny heart beating so fast within his chest when he held the warm body of the puppy close, getting a flurry of puppy kisses on his cheeks and chin as Tokei wriggled about while he held him. ::

Even Nathan would have felt the daunting power of the old maid's scowl. If he had not been thoroughly engaged in playing with the puppy. Somehow, nathan's oblivious state to the rest of the world save for that dog distracted Nicohlas enough that he was not half as terrified as he knew he should have been. Old man Sampson huffed a bit as he managed to catch up with Nan. She was like a bulldozer through the snow. Moving forwards like a great Juggernaut heedless of any obstacle that might get in her way. Thankfully it was only snow.
When the old man caught up, Helena had already been thoroughly wrapped up in the blanket and Nan was in the process of ushering her back to the house. He held up one hand to Helena while the other pressed to his chest.
"Sampson, your face looks really red." Nicohlas observed tactlessly. The old man shook his head a little, then reached to take the young boy's chair by the handle.
"We shall...discuss later." He panted, then inhaled a great breath before pushing Nicohlas up the walk. "Miss Helena should change immediately out of her wet shoes. You, young master, shall be heading to the parlor to warm up by the fireplace." He brusquely decided.
So much for them being able to observe Nathan on his horse. Nicohlas gave a glance back to look in a very perplexed manner at his brother. He was acting so very odd. Needless to say, he was going to ask him many many questions tonight!
Nathan personally knew that he ought to be returning to his lessons...but he had the puppy now in his arms, and he tried to clasp the wiggling bundle of fur to his chest as best he could. Nathan rolled in the snow on his back, puppy kisses wetting his cheeks and flipping his hair at off undignified angles. "I got you! I gotchu gotchugotchu!" He spoke in that exaggerated excited voice as he rolled with the pup for a few more minutes. It was only after the two elders, Nico, and Helena were back at the house that Nathan realized what a fool he had been making of himself. Nathan sat up in the snow, and purposefully ignored his tutor as he straightened his helmet back on his head. He reached a hand out to ruffle Tokei's head and cleared his throat. Ah...hem... yes...well...that's enough of that...go to the house dog." He tried to calmly direct with a point of his finger. It was time to get back to his lessons...regardless of the fact he was now soaked with snow melt.

:: Helena blushed furiously under the chastisement of Nan...really it wasn't that big of a deal... she just went running... through the snow... in her slippers... Dear! She was lucky her head was still on her shoulders and not knocked off due to Nan's sheer force of presence and of course her unswayable ire. "Please Nan, it's alright... it's more snow then cold, really I can barely tell it's cold!" Nan grumbled right back at her "Flicka du kunde inte berätta kyla från näsan! Det är kallt nog att frysa dem tår nu inne, inuti!" whatever Nan had just said made Helena's blush rise to a higher shade of red as she'd see the door... she just could not seem to grasp that these people didn't understand Swedish and that would have made her berating words a lot more embarrassing... Helena was sort of glad they didn't know and Nan kept forgetting!
...being swept along as she was, she barely had the chance to shout over her should to Nathan as he played with the pup, Tokei "Nathan! He only responds to Swedish commands so it's 'Komma!' to Come and 'Bo!' to Stay!" She would have gone on but she found herself safely inside the house and now, pleading for something else... "Really... I would like to watch the riding lessons... can we please watch from where you two were watching? Surely it is warm enough there for Nico is it not? And... and..." chewing her bottom lip "I was looking forward to the cocoa that was being made for us and I can use some food, I am a little bit hungry... plus Nico and I were just getting to know one another....Please?" She was looking at both Nico and Samson with pleading eyes... knowing Nan she'd get her into her room and tuck her in up to her eyebrows for the little stunt that she pulled... But maybe her heart would soften as it did before for Nico... he was so youthful and cute.
Meanwhile outside, Tokei had just tongue bathed Nathan and was wagging his tail so hard he was lucky he was being held or he would have knocked himself over with the effort... little yips coming from him as he'd have a grand old time playing with the 'big one' Lick! Lick! Lick! His tiny heart beating so fast and his pale blue eyes shining with excitement... he bounced around at his feet for a few moments... lunging at him as if he'd n** his ankles though he was a good puppy and he wouldn't dare.. his head wobbled as Nathan scruffled the top of his head setting one of his ears back comically... still very excited his butt wiggled with the force of his wagging but a command! He'd see the pointing finger... and race off in that direction, only to turn about half way there and come bounding back with his tongue lolled out of his mouth and snow fluffing up all about him "Raarrff!" turning circles in front of Nathan, sitting on his bum and then as excited as he was he'd yap at him twice more as he'd turn, bouncing in circles again.::

Nicohlas was clearly dissatisfied as he was rolled into the mansion and Sampson unerringly pointed him towards his own bedchambers. However, the young boy knew better then to argue with his caregiver. Nicholas rolled along the floor in the same general direction that Helena would surely find herself ushered. His eyes darted up towards Nan however, a curious expression clearly on his face as he puzzled out what that rather long rant of her's could have possibly meant. She didn't look too pleased, nor did Helena for that matter. However, Helena seemed to be aptly pulling at Sampson's heartstrings with her pleading. His old gray brows furrowed and he looked between Nico and Nan.
"If your guardian feels it is acceptable...I will set out the coco in the breakfast nook." He offered before turning to leave the three. Nico glanced up at Nan and half smiled at her.
"Please ma'am? I want to get to know Miss Helena more." He pleaded of her before he heard Sampson clearing his throat from the other side of the hall. Flushing a bit, Nico rolled his chair down to his room to change himself from his school cloths, and into something a bit more casual for around the house. After slipping his white bunny slippers onto his feet, Nicohlas quickly rolled himself to the nook where he could look out the wide glass windows and see his brother.
Nathan had sort of managed to collect himself, and after a uncertain 'bo' command to make the dog stay, he resumed his riding lessons around the paddock.

:: But Tokei didn't want to stay and even though he did, he gave a long whine in complaint... sitting there with his ears perked up, watching everyone walk off.. Now he was all alone and he couldn't look more miserable! Finally laying down on the sidewalk and giving the riding pasture where Nathan was and then the house, longing puppy dog looks before he'd look back and forth between them again... heaving a sigh as he'd watch from afar.
"Nggg....Fine, you may have your cocoa with the young master. But I expect you to take a nap right after, no arguments!" She'd take Helena by the shoulder and lead her to her room upstairs, her luggage placed about the room, some of them open from Nan starting to put away her clothing. Now the old woman gave her a few grunts of disapproval before she'd help her find a nice warm pair of clothing and a pair of slippers to wear downstairs... "When you are done, I will continue to put away your clothing young lady... and when you are done with your visit, you are to come straight back up here and lie down, it has been a lot of excitement for you so you need to rest or you will get wrinkles!..." Nan left her alone so she could change in peace... switching to a soft woolen sweater and a pair of bluejeans that Nan did not really approve of but knew that her parents thought it was alright to wear, in her mind young ladies always wore skirts but times had changed since she was young herself. She took a little longer to get redressed then Nico had but a few minutes after he was sitting at the nook, Helen would come strolling in, her smile sort of shy as she'd take a seat across from him where her cocoa sat, warming her hands on the mug... "I really like your slippers...." she'd comment, taking a sip of the hot drink. Her eyes wandering to watch Nathan so skillfully riding his beast. ::

Nicohlas was left to sit in silence for a short period of time. Unlike Helena, Sampson did not hover with disapproval and orders. The older gentleman had much to attend to now that he had other guests in the house. Nicohlas assumed that eventually he would find his way up to Nan, where he could offer his help and attempt to get to know the other guardian without the children hovering around.
When Helena came to join him, Nico looked over at her with a smile. He cupped his mug and wiggled his toes at her. "Do you? I made them myself. I have a pair of kitty ones too and I'm working on a pair of bird ones. They are not turning out so well though." He lamented a little while looking down at the black glass bead eyes on his feet. "I could make you a pair of your own if you like? I just need to measure your feet." He offered before looking back outside. He watched his brother posting about the corral, even from where he sat he could see Nathan's very serious expression. Years ago, he remembered a smile being on his brothers face when he rode. Now though...he knew that riding was a hobby he would have long ago given up if he had the choice. So instead he looked so grim as he listened to the instructor.
It was now, perhaps as a delayed reaction, that Nicohlas paused in his mental reflection. His fingers tightened on his cup, and slowly his eyes dropped down to the bunny slippers resting on the foot cradles. The slippers had wiggled. His toes had moved? But...how?
Outside, oblivious to the occurrence within the mansion, Nathan counted the minutes in his head while performing the usual routine. His instructor knew he had no more drive to fulfill these lessons then he did in mowing the lawn. He was grateful that she had decided to limit his lessons to something more like exercises then an attempt to improve his riding skill. From the corner of his eye he could see the little dog. It was a very obedient canine and he honestly just wanted to get off the horse and pick the thing up again. Finally his instructor gave him the approval to end their lessons. Nathan swung off the saddle of the horse and led it over to the instructor so she could put it away for him. Smiling and politely thanking her for her time, he quickly headed towards Toki. "Here dog." He called to him and made a coaxing motion with his hand.
