Dream: Dorian wants to be a world famous carpenter and make fancy furniture for the upper class

Hobbies

Carpentry: Every since he came out of the forest and was introduced by his friend Garrett to the wonders of wood carving, Dorian has been hooked ever since. The monotony of movement when he's carving is very therapeutic for him. Not only that, he gains a sense of accomplishment when something has been completed and it also looks good. That's not to say Dorian was a master carpenter overnight. He's still very much an apprentice in that sense that he has to work twice as hard a completing a piece, simply because he doesn't have the skill or the knowledge to work faster. It doesn't matter how hard it is though, Dorian loves a good challenge in completing something difficult.

Tinkering: Whenever he can get his hands on anything mechanical, Dorian immediately rips the thing apart to see how it works. Right from his entrance into the city, he was fascinated by the technology the world around him had to offer. Whenever he sees something new or unfamiliar, he has to see how it works. He spends a lot of his time pouring over books on mechanics, soaking up the information like a sponge. One day, he hopes to make his very own grandfather clock.

Cooking: Cooking, for Dorian, is very much like carpentry to Dorian. It relaxes him to stand in the kitchen and cook a meal. He especially likes it because he knows that if he follows a recipe, it'll yield a particular product. It's very much like how a watch works. With everything combined inside a pot, something delicious happens. However, Dorian isn't particularly good at cooking. He can often times get distracted or lose track of what he's doing. When he's focused though, he can make edible food.

Secret: Dorian has a very real fear of dogs. And no, not the dog based humanoids of the city. He's afraid of those creatures that run around on four legs yapping at people. It's not a deathly fear, but Dorian will make a point of crossing the street to avoid the animal or even go in another direction entirely. If made to be introduced to a dog, Dorian generally makes a big fuss and then runs away.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
[ go away ]

Outgoing:

Dorian has no problem interacting with others in society. When he's not face with a challenge or forced to work with others, he can give his ambitious side a break and just mingle with people. That's not to say that he curbs his mouth. Not matter where he is, Dorian always voices is opinion and doesn't care what anyone thinks. In this sense he has a very healthy self esteem level. No, he doesn't think he's God's gift to the city, but he does have no problem in speaking his mind and tell people how he thinks things should be.

Uncooperative:

Dorian does not play well with others. He can do something all by himself and doesn't need anyone's help thank you very much. When he's working in a group of people he feels like he's being constantly dragged down. Heck, even if he's working with just one other person it's a problem. He's convinced himself, whether it's true or not, that he can accomplish something better on his own than with something else. This can lead Dorian to have a very short temper with people sometimes, especially when he's working with them. He'll tend to snap and generally be unhelpful until he gets his way.

Tender:

Deep, deep, deep down in the inner most part of the nougat that is Dorian, he has a creamy, soft center. For the most part, he doesn't allow himself to be swayed by these gentle feelings because he is such a self driven person. He doesn't want anyone, even himself, getting in the way of what he's trying to accomplish. That's not to say Dorian is a cold hearted ice king or not understanding of people around him. He does FEEL for them, he just doesn't show it often. This sometimes makes it difficult for Dorian to seem very caring at all towards other. It takes work for him to tone down his general self and get in touch with his inner fluff. Being nicer is definitely a work in progress for him.

Ambitious:

When Dorian says he's going to do something, he does it. He is very highly motivated when it comes to completing tasks, no matter how impossible they seem to be. This is one of Dorian's better traits in the sense that if he decides to help someone, he's going to do it. He may complain and yell and generally act like he hates it, but in the end he'll have helped that person. However, his ambition can also get in the way of him just relaxing. He makes so many lofty goals for himself that need to be completed that he sometimes just forgets to relax. This is another reason carpentry is so relaxing for him, he doesn't have to burn himself out making creating the one perfect piece because he knows the more he just practices, he'll get better. Long term goals are most often better for Dorian's ambitions side.

Pushy:

No means yes and forget it means hell yeah it's gonna happen. Dorian does things when he wants and how he wants. He might play the game with a person and try to convince them to see his way of things, but when that doesn't work (which is usually the case) he gives up and just goes and does his own thing. He hates it when he knows he can do a task better but then ends up having to catering to someone else who is below par. His temper does come into play here and his reaction to making a person to what he wants them to do can range from a polite, "I'm doing it my way," to a punch in the face.

H I S T O R Y
[ what happened ]

Dorian wanted to stay in the forest. When he was born, he didn't want to go out into the world of the City, having been perfectly content in the dark woods. However, to his dismay, he was pushed from the woods by the guardians and found himself in a strange new world where he didn't know anyone. The first few weeks were hard for Dorian has he tried to get acclimated to this new culture.

Thankfully he somehow managed to make friends with a person of the City by the name of Garrett Donovan. The man was in fact a carpenter and one of the few people who could put up with Dorian's loud and pushy attitude. Being one of the kinder residents of the City, Garrett took Dorian into his home and taught him all about the City and its inhabitants. He also started to teach Dorian the trade of carpentry as that was Garrett's main source of income.

Dorian has been content with his new friend ever since. It's only once a in while that he wants to go back to his place in the woods and forget about everything else. Thankfully Garrett keeps him occupied most of the time and Dorian can forget about such longings.

I like his traits. I'd love to hear a little more on how the sarcasm works with his other ones, though. A sarcastic and paternal person sounds like a very confusing individual. From the way he's described it sounds like he's more self-focused than not. So, does he find his thoughtfulness and his attempts to be kind are hindered by his tendency to have a quick temper and to use sarcasm with other people? How much control does he actually have over his tone?

I agree it was confusing once I looked at it again. Revamped and I think it flows better this way. Hopefully. xD

And yes. Because Dorian has the tendency to be so self focused, he's very aware of what he's doing. Whether he chooses to curb his mouth is entirely up to him. So if he wants to be kind, he'll be kind.

Just don't forget that he doesn't have to worry about the dogs... the City is devoid of living animals. Just remember that and he's great.
