 Darius was curled up against a tree trunk, he was glad the ground underneath was dry, though it was still very cold. Shivering and curling a bit tighter, thinking he should have waited a little longer before coming back. Sighing, he would be fine though, he had survived some very cold places, though it was probably made worse by the fact he had come from the desert to this cold place.
Looking into the distance, it being the direction where his family lived. He should really show his face again, though he wasn't sure of his welcome, his parents would be happy but his brother might be very peed off at him. His younger brother, that was another he would have to see, he just hoped he could get him to understand.
Tucking his nose back into his body, it having gotten cold while he was looking towards home. Sighing, he needed to find something to do with himself

The chill in the air was apparent as Ostara walked through the woods. Though it didn't bother the small rosy mare. Her eyes scanned the ground in search of new flora. She became so engrossed in her task as she sniffed around some bushes and trees. Underneath the dense brush she finally found her prize, a small white blossom. "Ah hah!" she cried out happily.
It's petals were closed tightly in a spiral. The flower was either a moon blossom or the even rarer 'Unicorn's Horn'. Only one way to tell, so Ostara gently nudged the petals with the barest touch of her nose. The flower remained still. "Oh darn...just a moon blossom..."
Slightly disappointed, she rose up and glanced around in search of her next endeavor. A bright color unlike the forest glinted in the wood's dim light at the foot of a large tree. "Interesting..." she pondered wondering what type of flora it could possibly be. Perhaps it was even a form of fungi. 'Stara grew excited as she neared. As before, she lowered her head and began searching the ground as she approached. She rounded a small leafy bush to come face to face with an usdia. "Oh!"
She raised her head and backpedaled. If she hadn't been paying more attention, she would've bumped right into him. "So sorry..." She took a closer look at him, he seemed very cold lying in the ground... "Umm...do you need any help?"

Darius's nose emerged from where it had been warming up and he blinked up at the usdia mare that had spoken to him. Help, did he need help? Well it was a good question though he didn't really need it, he just wasn't used to the cold again, it was all poor timing on his part. So he offered a slightly wonky smile. "No I'm fine really I just picked a bad time of year to return home, I'd forgotten how cold it could get here." He had been gone a long time after all, and a lot of the places he had travled had been warmer compared to cold. Not that he preferred warm over cold generally but usually he had a slow progression into winter from summer or vica-versa, but he had come from the hot desert to this cold snowy land so he was feeling the cold more than he usually would. Though he had to wonder what she had been about that had brought her round the bush he was next to, then again often enough it would be the stars in his mane and tail, they could shine and twinkle at the smallest amount of light. "Is there anything i can do for you miss?" Figuring it was at least polite to ask.

"Oh. Where did you come from then?" Ostara wasn't aware of too many warm areas nearby, just the plains during summer.
She was a bit surprised by his sudden offer of help. She looked down at him still in a bundle at the tree's trunk. He's cold, and he's the one asking to help me. How sweet, the mare smiled at her thoughts. "Oh no I'm fine. Just poking my nose around to find any new flora that I haven't catalogued yet." She looked around the woods, not seeing any visible plants. Ostara looked back to the usdia, "You wouldn't by chance have seen any?"

Smiling at the mare, not because she was funny but he found something about her amusing and endearing. "Your a botanist then." It wasn't really a question, his travels had ended up in him having acquired a rather varied education over the years he had been gone. Deciding it would be polite to answer her questions in order he shifted, not having been so glad of his scarf for a while. "I was in the desert before coming back here, so it was much warmer, but I've been traveling for years all over the place so I totally lot track of what season it was back here." Shruging a little its not a big issue, just a little uncomfortable for a while. "As for new flowers, I've not seen anything new around here, though I saw loads of new and amazing ones while I was away, even flowers that eat insects." Shivering having had a few bad dreams about those flower trying to eat him.

Ostara perked up at the mention of being a botanist. "And Naturalist," she said proudly. Another subject peaked her interest - travel. "The desert? I've never been there before. Alas my travels have only taken me so far. But goodness it must have been exciting to encounter such flora, albeit a bit scary." She shared in his shiver at the thought, a carniverous plant was intriguing but nerve-wracking.
'Stara's eyes widened with genuine curiosity. How she yearned to hear more about this usdia's adventures. She planted her rump on the ground, the chill barely bothersome. "Oh! I think I forgot to properly introduce myself," she laughed to herself, "Hi, I'm Ostara. And you are?"

He tried not to look at her too oddly, but he couldn't totally school his expression into one of plesant blankness. Flowers to his thinking were all fine and dandy, and some had very good uses, others were just pretty and smelt nice, but plants that ate animals, even if it was just insects were just scary. He had had nightmares for a few nights that there would one day be a plant that had grown from these that ate usdias, yes that had not been a good experience.
"Ostara the naturalist, nice to meet you... I'm Darius." Not really having anything remarkable to say about himself, yes he had traveled all over the place but that was about the only interesting thing about him. His odd expression having faded with the introductions, another nice smile on his face now, though in the back of his mind a little voice did wonder how the heck he could smile and think about conversations when he was so cold. Pondering how to suggest they walk and talk now she had sat down. She might not be cold but he was, he would be glad when the weather warmed up. Then again if things went badly with his family he might just be leaving again soon.

"Darius! Pleased to meet you. I'm such a travel enthusiast that I'd love to hear more about your travels." She was about to continue jabbering away when a sudden thought popped into her head - almost like a nagging little insect that just wouldn't go away. Ostara remembered why she was speaking with this usdia, he had seemed so cold and in need of help. Though he had reassured her he was fine, he did admit to being colder than usual.
"Oh! Silly me!" 'Stara rose up to all fours. "You must be cold sitting on the floor like that. Would you like to take a walk with me, get the blood flowing and all that?"
