Favorite skits, favorite quotes, favorite python...

Oh, you non-Americans will probably want to add a "u" to favorite.

Anyway, I'll start it off with one of my favorite skits (I can't possible choose an absolute favorite). The man is played by Eric Idle and the squire is played by Terry Jones.
Quote:
Man: "'Evening, squire!"
Squire: (stiffly) "Good evening."
Man: "Is, uh ... is your wife a goer, eh? Know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more?"
Squire: "I, uh, I beg your pardon?"
Man: "Your, uh, your wife, does she go, eh, does she go, eh?"
Squire: (flustered) "Well, she sometimes 'goes', yes."
Man: "Aaaaaaaah, bet she does, I bet she does, say no more, say no more, know whatahmean, nudge nudge?"
Squire: (confused) "I'm afraid I don't quite follow you."
Man: "Follow me. Follow me. That's good, that's good! A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat!"
Squire: "Are you, uh ... are you selling something?"
Man: "SELLING! Very good, very good! Ay? Ay? Ay?" (pause)
Man: "Oooh! Yer wicked, ay! Wicked, ay! Oooh hooh! Say No MORE!"
Squire: "Well, I, uh ..."
Man: "Is, your uh, is your wife a sport, ay?"
Squire: "Um, she likes sport, yes!"
Man: "I bet she does, I bet she does!"
Squire: "As a matter of fact she's very fond of cricket."
Man: "'Oo isn't? Likes games, eh? Knew she would. Likes games, eh? She's been around a bit, been around?"
Squire: "She has travelled, yes. She's from Scarsdale." (pause)
Man: "SAY NO MORE!! Scarsdale, saynomore, saynomore, saynomore, squire!"
Squire: "I wasn't going to!"
Man: "Oh! Well, never mind. Dib dib? Is your uh, is your wife interested in ... photography, ay? 'Photographs, ay', he asked him knowingly?"
Squire: "Photography?"
Man: "Snap snap, grin grin, wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more?"
Squire: "Holiday snaps, eh?"
Man: "They could be, they could be taken on holiday. Candid, you know, CANDID photography?"
Squire: "No, no I'm afraid we don't have a camera."
Man: Oh. (leeringly) "Still, mooooooh, ay? Mwoohohohohoo, ay? Hohohohohoho, ay?"
Squire: "Look ... are you insinuating something?"
Man: "Oh, no, no, no ... yes."
Squire: "Well?
Man: Well, you're a man of the world, squire."
Squire: "Yes ..."
Man: "I mean, you've been around a bit, you know, like, you've, uh ... you've 'done it' ..."
Squire: "What do you mean?"
Man: "Well, I mean like ... you've SLEPT ... with a lady..."
Squire: "Yes ..."
Man: "What's it like?"

Hehehe, that sketch is my earliest memory of Python.

I think my favourite (Hey I just realised that I spell it with a "u", and I'm Australian, CURSES!!!) sketch, no wait not that one, hmmn, nope can't pick a singular sketch. Anyway, among my favourite sketches, I'd definatley include all of them, but to start with, I'd say the Cheese Shop sketch (In my opinion, much funnier than the Parrot Sketch) The Bavarian Restaurant sketch, from Monty Python's Fleigender Zirkus, "Yes, in Bavaria, where the sheep seldom wear spectacles." or one of my favourite lines of all time "Well I've been in the city for twenty years and I must admit - I'm lost." I'm sure there's a million more sketches I could say, but they are what comes to mind right now

I love the cheese shop and the parrot sketches.

I also love the Spam sketch. It has an added layer of humor (humour lol ) for me because I'm of Scandinavian heritage and my family loves Spam (you may remember all the vikings in the sketch singing "Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam). A while back, I went to North Dakota (where my family and a bunch of other Scandinavians live). We went to a church luncheon, and they were serving Spam salad sandwiches. Euch. See, the affinity for Spam seems to have stopped at my generation.

THE LUMBERJACK SONG. End of story. I was in hysterics for twenty minutes and couldn't breathe.

Wow, I've never heard/seen the Lumberjack song in German. It's almost as funny as the English version. Frauenkleider whee

Well, now that I see it all written out I can't avoid it; I have to memorize that and ask some random person on the street if they know where I may find him.

I just saw "John Cleese's Personal Best" (twice!) and I must say, none of it ever gets old. cool

"My brain hurts!" Oh, that was brilliant!

rofl

Oh, and I've just remembered the mollusks "live" documentary.

This is a ballad for the good times.....

I was reading The Brand New Monty Python Bok last night, and it's amazing how well the humour carries across into text, but then again I wouldn't expect anything less from the Pythons. Here's an excerpt from "Norman Henderson's Diary edited by Eric Henderson"

"Thursday March 22nd......
Tea at the Menuhuns. A lot of fighting as usual. Took taxi home in nude but was involved in an accident with a lorry in Oxford Street. Was quite badly hurt and had to travel in ambulance to hospital. Dies before we got there though.

Friday March 23rd
Nothing much. Funeral arranged for tomorrow. Rather depressed.

Saturday March 24th
Service at St.Thomas, Belgravia. Then on to cemetery. Buried about 11.15 am."
So put a battery in your leg

I really need to get that book. XD

Oh, and here's Miss Anne Elk, for those who wish to watch on their computators. C:
I love that squawking cough at the end. And also the way Graham fidgets to try and get her to proceeed and actually say her new theory.
Ah, good times.

And Everyone Is A Clever Clone.....

Not sure if I've every mentioned my fav Graham skit. It's him as Rev. Arthur Belling and his Appeal for Sanity
"You know, there are many people in the country today who, through no fault of their own, are sane. Some of them were born sane. Some of them became sane later in their lives. It is up to people like you and me who are out of our tiny little minds to try and help these people overcome their sanity. You can start in small ways with ping-pong ball eyes and a funny voice and then you can paint half of your body red and the other half green and then you can jump up and down in a bowl of treacle going 'squawk, squawk, squawk...' And then you can go 'Neurhhh! Neurhh!' and then you can roll around on the floor going 'pting pting pting' ... "

That or the winner of the Europolice song contest "Bing Tiddle Tiddle Bing"
"Quoi? Quoi? Tout le monde, quoi? ... mais, le monde ... d'habitude ... mais ... je pense ...

Bing tiddle tiddle bang
Bing tiddle fiddle bing
Bing fiddle fiddle tiddle tiddle
Bing fiddle tiddle tiddle BONG!"
