Description:

The coordinates given to the Nairan's point to a highly advanced civilization that is very young. They evolved naturally, under the protection of a non-interfering Energy Being, and followed a typical course for natural, cultural, and technological development until just under a century ago when they entered a technological renaissance centered on a technology they call a Gravity Lens. A Gravity Lens is a device which allows the regulated transfer of a gravitational field between distant points in space. The true means of the transfer, a Quantum Duality field, is not understood by the civilization but the technology has ushered in new prosperity (for some) by linking Lenses to a nearby micro-black hole.

The planet is called Paxia, and is comprised of a 'Republic' that has devolved to economic and political oligarchy. One of the largest families is the Tan family, whose patriarch is Orvar Tan. Lara Tan is one of his five daughters and is the one most interested in travel to other stars. She is the natural choice for negotiating first contact with aliens.

After much reassurance and explanation to his men, Tiberius used the coordinates he discovered to change course from Bologna to this unknown system. As the Demeter enter the system TIberius stares intently at the tablet trying to discern what other secrets it might hold.

When the Nairan vessel gets within range of the EM-based sensor stations on the planet's moon, there is considerable uproar. After some emergency conferencing, a representative is chosen to attempt contact approximately five hours after the Nairan vessel is first detected, Lara Tan, daughter of Senator Orvar Tan travels to a moon base to direct First Contact. Using a radio telescope station on the moon, a tentative greeting is sent to the Nairan ship. A single-frequency sequence of energy bursts that form the Fibonacci sequence over time.

The information provided to the Nairans by the IPU includes several language reports based on intercepted radio emissions from the planet and translation techniques that should allow the Nairans to communicate with the planet's inhabitants with relative ease. The reports also include information about the most common frequencies and encodings used for global communication so that the Nairans will be able to interface with the planet's comm infrastructure.

((OoC: Been a while and life has been crazy around here. So if I make any mistakes/inconsistencies let me know))
The comm officer of the Demeter reported, "Sumens transmissus a luna planete. Signum est composita series numero escalatus." Tiberius rose and gave a hand signal to accept the transmission.

He addressed the open channel, "This is Vice Admerial Tiberius Quayym of Nairan Interstellar Kingdom. I am here on a private errand. I received the coordinates of your world as a meeting place. I do have any other interests here and mean you no harm." He stood waiting to see if a reply would come.

Tiberius pondered if the people of this world were connected to the ones who sent him the tablet and he waited to see if it would react to anything. He began to feel tense as the number of variables surrounding him increased.

(Translation: Receiving a transmission for the planet's moon. It is a escalating, compounded series of numbers.)

(ooc: I'm going to assume that the Nairans are using the comm protocols provided by the IPU for this contact. -DC)

The telescope station is in uproar at the transmission, in their own language on their own standard comm frequencies. "Hello!", Lara responds at once bewildered and overjoyed. "This is the Republic of Paxia. We welcome the opportunity for trade and the exchange of knowledge with other cultures."

While Lara continues first contact, military personnel in other parts of the facility are in contact with Lara's father, Senator Orvar Tan, relaying all the information they have gathered about the Nairan vessel.

Tiberius, uncertain where to go from here, played long, "Greetings. Does the Republic of Paxia represent a unified world government or is this just one nation of many I speak with?"

Becoming frustrated, Tiberius weighed his option carefully and in seeing no reaction from the tablet as of yet he decided to play it safe and not reveal his true purpose of being there further. He'd wait to see if someone would contact him and would treat this as a standard first contact for the time being.

"We are a people unified under one democratic government," Lara replied proudly. Muffled voices come through the transmission unintelligibly before Lara is heard again. "I'm told we have a ship. It will leave this base and meet you in orbit around the planet." From an enclosed bay in the moon's surface nearby the telescope facility, a vessel approximately equal in size to the Nairan ship launches and enters a wide orbit of the planet, an orbit outside that of the planet's moon. Though tenuously positioned, the vessel does not seem troubled by its orbit, quickly powering down its engines so that the only glow comes from sparse portholes. Even in the dim lighting, the large, unpowered four-barrel gun turrets are evident and the size and shape of the portholes reveal the impressive thickness of the hull plating.

The vessel sent to dock with the Nairans is military, but only as a precaution and because no civilian vessel exists that could maintain such a distant orbit. That said, the vessel is equipped with graviton pulse weaponry that, though fairly short-ranged, does not require an advance build-up of energy thanks to the Paxian Gravity Lens technology. That same technology allows the vessel to maintain its tenuous orbit with efficiency instead of having to constantly fire thrusters or other traditional means of propulsion.

The hope is that the two vessels will dock, or at least attach to each other, so that the Paxian cruiser can tug the Nairan vessel into a moon base for further diplomatic negotiations, assuming Paxia's environment to be compatible with the newcomers.
