Hello, senshi! Once again, here is a major revision to the lore, with as much added in as I can based on discussion responses throughout the guild. Let me know if I've gotten anything wrong.
So you know, this is going to be considerably long since a lot more of this information has been roughly decided. Don't be too mad at me for the wall of text! heart
Just to make sure this is clear to those who didn't feel like reading through the whole thread after reading through the whole post, Season One will be written by everyone (in stages, don't worry about this part yet though!) in story format. All characters will have the option of showing up in Season One. If you aren't one of the Season One senshi, so to speak, than your civilian form is still likely to be in the area. Then, Season Two will kick off with more roleplaying. There is a thread for it already in the RP forum, so feel free to jump in to it or to start up your own. Anyhow, let's start at the beginning! It all starts with Sailor Rainbow and the planets that the senshi guard. Each senshi guards one of the many small bodies in the Kuiper belt, the same belt that Pluto is in. Rainbow is our princess, and at the start of Season One she's currently missing.
You see, Rainbow has been imprisoned. She was captured by youma (demonkind) and falsely accused of crimes she did not commit. This was orcastrated by Sailor Black Rainbow, who is currently free and pretending to be Rainbow while poor Rainbow herself suffers the sentence. Black Rainbow does have some degree of control over the youma, though no one save herself is currently aware of that fact. While posing as the true princess, she is secretly influencing the youma to gather up the keys – the relics – that can be used to free Rainbow. The senshi need to remove the imposter princess and find and release the true princess.
So now we get to the senshi. Both Black and White have awakened to their senshi powers and have discovered the situation with Rainbow and Black Rainbow. However, thanks to a dream, Sailor White believes that Rainbow is the true princess and needs to be set free, where, thanks too SBRs maniputalions, Sailor Black believes that Black Rainbow is the true princess and wants to keep Rainbow imprisoned. White is looking for a way to find and to free Rainbow, and Black is looking for ways to thwart White. The two of them started off working together, but they have gone their separate ways.
And then Sailor Violet, our leader, awakens to her senshi powers. Violet has a small celestial goat as a guardian. This guardian, Murasaki, tells her that she needs to find the other senshi and to find their princess. Murasaki does not yet know that the princess is trapped, only that she is missing. Youma begin to attack the area frequently, as if they are searching for something. Violet must fight them, and during the course of a number of battles in a number of different places, the rest of the senshi are awakened as well. The other senshi are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, and Blue.
Yellow is the next senshi to awaken. She is attacked by a youma while working as a model and is found by her guardian, Jaune. Jaune gives her her transformation item, and she is able to awaken and defeat the youma. Later, she and Jaune are able to meet up with Violet and Murasaki. Yellow joins Violet's team.
Red is the next senshi to awaken. She has had healing powers since she was young, and has learned to use them. During a battle where Red is nearby as a civilian, she sees either Violet or Yellow get hurt. (Details as to who to be determined.) Red runs in to heal that person, and they sense that she is a senshi. She transforms, and joins Violet's team.
Blue is the next senshi to awaken. She purchased an item at an aquarium gift shop that turns out to be her transformation item. The item took over her body as she slept, transforming her into Sailor Blue and sending her out to fight youma. During one particularly strenuous battle, Blue uses up all of her power and faints. When she regains consciousness, Red has found her and is healing her. Red is able to tell her what happened and that she is another senshi. Blue transforms, and her item no longer takes control of her. She goes with Red, and joins Violet's team.
Green is the next senshi to awaken. Her transformation item resonated to Violet's first transformation weeks earlier and forced Green to transform, but Green thought she was losing her mind and tried to hide from her powers. Then she witnesses a youma attack where Black is fighting alone. Green is finally able to transform and assists Black by holding the youma in place. Green joins the Black team.
Orange is yet to be determined, but will fit in this sequence somewhere.
Each senshi, of course, will contribute to her team in different ways and react to the situation in different ways. The majority opinion for the Rainbow senshi as a whole seems to be towards a generally driven and mischievous attitude. Whatever she wants, the senshi will stop at nothing to get it, even if something gets in her way. There will, of course, be a few senshi that lean slightly more towards the “good” side of the spectrum, senshi who refuse to hurt and innocent or break any rules or even kill a demon, for example. And there will also be senshi who lean slightly more towards the “evil” side of the spectrum, senshi who revel in battle and mercilessly strike down all who oppose them. How you play your character is up to you. All of them have their own personalities and motivations, so of course all of them will be slightly different from each other.
And now, after all of the senshi have been awakened, we are in phase two. Violet is told that she is the leader (by Murasaki, and possibly Jaune) and that she must join the senshi together to find the princess. White briefly appears and Violet sees her for the first time, and Violet believes that White might be their lost princess.
This is when the youma finally discover one of the items that they are looking for, a relic. The relics are small charms or medallions, and the one that is found at this point is the yellow one. Violet and her allies manage to beat the youma and capture the item, which spurs the memory of the two guardians. They remember that this relic can be used to find Rainbow. The relics are drawn to the true princess, in a sense. Murasaki and Jaune also think that there must be two more, blue and red. Violet and her team begin to search, as the youma are also searching. Black, realizing that Violet's team has a relic, takes her team and begins to search as well. Because Yellow is on the team that captured the relic, she is able to activate her relic and use its power. Please go
here to learn more about these relics.
White then finally approaches Violet's team. She is wary, and demands to know why they are searching for these relics. Violet asks her if she is the princess, and White realizes that they do not know that the true princess is imprisoned. She tells them about Rainbow, and that Rainbow is locked away somewhere. She confirms that the relics can be used to find Rainbow, but also that they can hopefully be used to free her. White then joins Violet and her allies, motivating them to find the remaining two relics.
Through a series of battles, the remaining two relics are found. The youma take hold of the blue relic, and Black's team takes hold of the red relic. At this point, both the blue and the red relic are dormant, because the appropriate senshi is not in the right position to activate it.
But the youma continue searching as if they aren't done, which makes all of the senshi (regardless of which team they are currently on) realize that there are more relics. Three more, in fact: orange, green, and purple.
So now, of course, there are more battles. The next relic to be found is the orange one. The Violet/White team gets that one. This is followed by the green relic. The Black team gets that one. The final relic is the purple one. The Violet/White team gets that one. During all of this, the blue relic will be stolen from the youma by the Violet/White team. At this point, the blue, violet, and green relics are now on the appropriate teams and can be activated by their senshi.
After all six relics are eventually found and the youma have none, Black and her team start to raid the other senshi to get the relics that they have. Over the course of several confrontations, the Black team tells the Violet/White team why Rainbow must be imprisoned, and the Violet/White team tells the Black team why Rainbow must be freed. No senshi has currently chosen to switch sides, but a few of the senshi may have moral dilemmas and/or general confusion. There may be relic theft from both sides, and a senshi who previously had her relic may lose it to the other team just as easily as a senshi who did not yet have her relic might manage to get a hold of hers.
Remember, not all senshi will have access to their relics at all times. The youma will have control of a relic for a time, and it will have to be retrieved. The senshi on the opposite team may get yours, and you may not be able to take it back right off. Even if your senshi can't use hers at first, she will be able to take hold of it eventually.
Anyway, back to the storyline. There is the moral dilemma and the confusion and now all relics are captured by either the Violet/White team or the Black team. The youma have none. A black cloud begins to form over the city, and the youma fortress appears in the air amidst the storms. Both teams independently charge in to attack the youma, and Black Rainbow is revealed. The whole imposter princess thing comes to light, and both teams finally join under Violet to fight off Black Rainbow and the youma. This is the final big battle of the season, and both teams will have to work together to destroy all of the youma.
Black Rainbow gets away and the senshi attempt to find Rainbow, but the relics do not work! Black and White finally produce the last two, their own. With each senshi finally in possession of her own relic, the senshi are at last able to discover Rainbow's location, which is likely some place not exactly of this world and not exactly very comfortable. The eight relics are connected or locked together somehow and enter into the newly-freed Rainbow to restore her powers. (They're sort of sucked into her, if you will, similar to Sailor Moon borrowing the other senshi powers in the Black Dream Hole movie.) When Rainbow is released, her powers split off into many many colors, far more than eight, and then the new relics fly off in different directions.
And now, Season One is over.
Season Two begins!
The eight senshi have to find and retrieve their relics. However, with Rainbow's release, a number of new senshi have awoken to their powers, and there are new relics to find as well. Teal, Indigo, Pink, Brown, and whoever else (many who we saw previously in their civilian forms) suddenly discover their powers and must decide what to do with them. This is where our roleplay is currently picking up. The new senshi will discover their powers in a number of different ways, and then decide where to go from there. (Again, it's all up to you, though keep in mind that
eventually the Rainbow senshi are all a team. Season Two major villains and such are yet to be determined, but that can be taken care of much later.)
The story is taking place somewhere near the LA basin in California, generally in a fictional suburbian area. This is not to say that all of the characters are
from this area, or even American-born! Many of the characters have migrated to the area for different reasons.
The story is also taking place in the modern/near future. Both of these should make it relatively easy to roleplay, as we should all be marginally familiar with modern technology and American customs.
Many of the senshi who are high-school aged (such as Violet, Blue, White, and Indigo off the top of my head) are attending the same school and come in contact there. If your senshi is older or younger or attends a different school, there are plenty of other ways to meet everyone! Brown, for instance, graduated from that school and is an alumni there. Green works there as a teacher's aide. Pink is a bit younger, but will be attending that school once she's out of middle school. Again, pick a way you like to get involved with the others!
Sailor Moon cannon will not be involved with the Rainbow Senshi. We are outside of the control of Neo Tokyo, as it were.
Feel free to use this lore to help you flesh out your character, but keep in mind that there are some things still up in the air. Please post if you have questions, problems, or something that needs to be changed.
