A while ago I had seen the mysterious trailer for a movie called Catfish. Finally after a long wait I got to see it.
The movie is a documentary about a photographer from New York City who gets a photo of his published in a magazine which is seen by a family in Michigan. The family's eight year old daughter sends him a painting she made of his photo and he soon becomes friends with her and the rest of her family, mainly her mother and older sister through facebook, texting, and phone calls. His friends who are student film makers decide to make a documentary about the friendship and finally they all go to Michigan to meet the family.
Everything about this film is so emotionally and beautifully done. You feel like you are getting to see all the details of all the major developments. The movie feels so pure and you have to keep wondering how far things will go.
I wish I could say more, but I don't want to spoil anything. I will say that it is not a horror movie (even though the trailer makes it look like one).
This is one of the best documentaries I have ever seen and I feel it is truly a masterpiece of cinema.
