The Sound Five exist as the Otokage's personal bodyguard detail and are reputed as some of the strongest shinobi in the village. Four members protect one gate of the village each, while the fifth - being the leader - protects the central hub. The Otokage appoints shinobi to these special and honored positions, and each of them are generally only filled with shinobi who exhibit special talents or are at least of Jounin-level strength and skill.
