It had been months since Kimiko had arrived in Japan, and, yet, the girl was still no closer to being any more fluent in the language than she already was. The book of useful phrases she had brought with her had been lost long ago, and given that the brunette had holed herself up in the Aizawa mansion for so long of a period of time, well, Shuuji was simply lucky she had yet to offend anyone too terribly.
As luck would have it, Minto, no longer entertained by the sight of Kimiko humiliating herself with her lack of language skills, had finally shoved the 'Pumpkin Queen' out the door, given enough yen to buy what she needed, so as long as she walked Mikki.
Granted, the brunette should have more than likely been a bit more grateful, but instead, she muttered darkly, trudging into the bookstore with the Pomeranian following her.
"I should look into getting a job..."

The dark haired girl let out a rough sigh. She was walking home from Kendo practice, her bag of equiptment hung over her shoulder. It had been a long practice, but she managed to beat most of her teammates. Of course, they always muttered comments about her being on the Kendo team and being a girl. But she was better than most of them, anyway.
"They're just jealous.." Suika murmured to herself, brushing her dark hair behind her ear as she walked down the sidewalk. What really bothered her was the fact that because she was female, and so good at sports, she wasn't all that popular.
She only had one friend, and new student she had run into at her school. Her eyes darkened as she thought about it, before the teen moved into the bookstore.
"Do you have the new book on Kendo?" Was the question that she asked once she made her way to the information desk. She was pointed down towards the back, and she moved quickly to see.

Kimiko started to scan the shelves, her stubborn pride and her lack of the right words keeping her from asking where the language books where, Mikki following right alongside her. Then again, the dog was being kept on a leash, so short of taking off after whatever small dogs like him chased in these parts of the world, Mikki wasn't going very far.
Frowning, she looked at book after book, momentarily distracted by the comic section, before giving off a sigh of frustration, slightly defeated.
"Isn't there anything around here in English?"

Suika had already grabbed three knew books on Kendo, and she planned on spending the rest of the night working on them. A foriegn language caught her ear and she looked around. That wasn't Japanese.. With a small yawn, she noticed a dog. "Kawaii!" She squealed and moved closer to the girl with the animal.
Not knowing that the girl wasn't Japanese, she pet down and started to pet the dog. She started to mutter a few things in Japanese. Asking things like it's name.. her name.. If she lived around here.
When she didn't hear a response right away, the dark haired girl blinked a few times and stood up.

Kimiko stared at Suika in helpless confusion as the girl asked her questions. The brunette knew enough to know that she had been asked as to what her name was, but the other stuff was beyond the short one.
"Um...I'm sorry, but I don't speak your language," Shuuji told the dark haired girl, speaking slowly and as clear as she could. Perhaps Suika would know enough English to direct her to someone who did?

Well, then. This was where her stupid English class could come in handy? Her English was very broken, but at least she could pick up a few words. "You.. no.. speak Japanese?" Suika asked in the girl's language, canting her head slightly.
Of course, the dark haired girl knew that her English was very bad, but she hoped that the other girl would at least be able to understand what she was saying. Her gaze went from the girl back down to the dog. She could have sworn she'd seen it before, but she wasn't sure where.

Great. So the girl's English didn't seem all that clear. Resisting the urge to correct the younger teen's grammar, Kimiko shook her head.
"Nope. I only know enough Japanese to tell you the basics. And even then, the stuff I know comes from books and CDs, not an actual person who speaks the language," the brunette explained, shrugging.
Noting that Suika had once again focused on Mikki, the Pumpkin Queen silently hoped that she would not be assumed to have kidnapped the small canine. Like she really wanted to.
"Um...this is Mikki. I'm walking him for a...eh..."
What was her relation to Minto, anyways? Certainly not a friend.
"Relative."
Nice going, idiot, Kimiko silently cursed.

Suika understood about half off the girl's ramblings, and smiled slightly, shaking her head. She gave a small wave of her hand, bitting her lip slightly. There was obviously no way that the two could have a full conversation, but she still thought the girl was rather interesting. "..Mikki." The girl repeated, at least picking up that much from the new girl.
"Anou.. gomen ne!" The kendo girl mentally slapped her own forehead. She hadn't even introduced herself! "My.. name.. is Suika." It was said slowly, she really didn't like English too much, it was hard to learn. "Your.. name is?"

"Ah...eh...watashi no onamae wa Shuuji Kimiko, desu," the short one replied, knowing at least how to say her name correctly. The language wasn't as hard to pronounce as some stuff she learned way back when in her old Spanish classes, but it was still tricky.
"Um....um...."
Oh, shoot. What came next?
"Hajimashite yozo yoroshiku."
Or at least, Kimiko figured that was the correct phrase. For all she knew, she could have been telling Suika to drop dead.

The girl understood what she was saying, for the most part. And she decided not to correct her Japanese as not to offend her. Part of her felt pretty bad, there weren't too many great English speakers around Tokyo, but there was bound to be someone she could talk to. "I.. sorry I don't speak English good," She shook her head, showing that she knew that was wrong. "If you like, I show you where you find someone American."
If Kimiko agreed, Suika would probably just show her to the Library. One of the workers there spoke very good English, she'd heard him once. "If not, I leave." Shrugging slightly, she glanced down at Mikki one more time before smiling softly. **

"Um...okay? I guess that'd work," Kimiko said, giving up. She had honestly just come to buy a phrase book or even a dictionary, but the library was just as good, and er...
...well, she'd have to find out later if they allowed dogs in the building. The Pumpkin Queen could only imagine how Minto would react if her precious dog were to be stolen.
"Sure. Where's the library?" **
